The folly of Secular Living

What shall be said of today’s standards?  Possessions, pride,  being politically correct and all that “stuff”, are utter folly.  We see a man in an expensive car and think how he has become something.  But we don’t see the heart of the man.  We see a “beautiful” woman and ponder how wonderful it would be to look like that (or to wake up with that next to us).   We see a mansion and desire to live in it.  We see power being weilded by people in government and feel the jealousy of desire for their power.

What we fail to notice is that what we have is plenty enough to test our hearts.  Enough with the false standards of secular living.  Look to God.   Consider how He is all powerful, all beauty, all life, all compassion.  Yet with all God owns (including you and your skin) He does not strut around like we do.  He is so much more in every way.  Desire to be like Him.  Learn from Him.  Accept His Son as your Lord and begin to learn what true life is all about.

By His Grace.

Death is not what we think it is.

We think of death as a terrifying end to life. But this view is completely uneducated. Eternal life awaits the very second we cease breathing here. Death is more like a door way into eternity. Unfortunately, since most are uneducated about God (this by their own desire to remain ignorant), most will enter eternity naked, ashamed, guilty, and vicious. They cannot expect to receive a warm welcome. Peace will reign supreme forever. Those who are not peace through the sacrifice of Christ Jesus will not live with God.

Death, then, is more like handing in our open book essay at the end of our testing. The open book is the Bible. And the terrible shame is that God’s Spirit is very willing to teach anyone how to pass the test. And for what we don’t know and aren’t able to accomplish in our testing, Jesus is the cover.

How sad it will be on that day for all who heard of the salvation of Christ and turned a blind eye. How loud and deep will an eternal being weep who realizes they are being cast away from the Living God? We dare not think of the day of judgment as a favorable thing unless we have accepted the sacrifice of Jesus and allowed Him to be our Lord.

By His Grace.
