Fake It Till You Make It.

Years ago I was told that we should pray.  As a duty, I prayed.  And in my innocence that was good enough.  But as the years have passed and the Lord has shown me a better way, I’ve learned to turn to prayer often, deeply, and with joy.

What this shows me is something interesting.  You might have heard the phrase, “Fake it till you make it”.  There is some truth in that saying that can not be denied.  We struggle as babes in Christ to do what the mature tell us is best for us to do.  Then, one wonderful day, we find that we are doing with joy what seemed like a chore.  Isn’t this so with all the maturing in life?

So if you’re having troubles learning to turn to God, relax.  God knows your heart.  And there are times when He moves in to help you stand regardless your weakness or lack of understanding.  Just summon all the strength you have to obey what you know is right.  God will do the rest.  In fact it must be said that even the “faking” is supported by your God.  You never stand alone if you call on the name of Jesus.  Though it is possible to stand better, He has you in His Holy Hand.

By His Grace.

Holy Fire.

Fire, meant to purify

All that my works just cannot buy.

If it’s gold I seek, I testify,

Through heat of trials my faith He’ll try.

He is the fire; that consuming Flame.

And Glory to His Holy Name!

Before His Throne we all will stand.

Shall He accept from a filthy hand?

I need His burning hand anew.

I pray you let Him burn you too.

By His Grace.

WWJD. WijtutdN!

Considering WWJD: Does that mean we are guessing about what Jesus would do in our certain circumstance?  Why do we approach the will of the Living God by guessing?  Havn’t we been given the gift of the Holy Spirit?  And hasn’t He promised that this gift should be sufficient for All our needs?

I propose another saying: What is Jesus telling us to do NOW.  Don’t you hear Him?  If not there are at least two possible reasons:

1. You’re not a Christian.  Though you might say you’re one, where’s the proof of the Living God living in you?

2. You’re a Christian in rebellion.  For wasn’t the great accusation made against those who stopped their ears from hearing God’s will?

Mealy Mouth Christians?

The Kingdom of Heaven belongs to Christ Jesus.  Who among us would dare risk it all for His Name?  While the world considers Christians weak, we know the horrors which await the faithful.  A question arrises: “Who will have the ‘guts’ to enter into the war for the sake of God’s peace?”  We do not war for reward.  We war with sin because we desire that our God might have the peace He seeks.  He has every right to the blessings due His magnificent ways!

Who will suit up and embrace the selfish enemy in battle for the souls of men?

The Parting Warriors.

I was with them as they worshiped the One who is life itself.  And the power of His presence caused us all to reflect on eternity and true power.  The gathering was sweet and we shared our stories of His love.  And when we parted there was a feeling of joy mixed with a tiny loss of fellowship.  We all went out to live this faith He provokes.

A bit later, as I sat to order my meal, I saw others who had shared in His presence.  I didn’t know any of them.  But as I watched how they interacted with each other and those around them, I knew they were my brothers and sisters in Christ.  They are warriors of truth as all who profess His Holy name are.  And we see each other in passing as the warmth of fellowship fades away.

Then, as I watched a few finish their meal and leave, it occurred to me that they did a marvelous thing.  One by one they leave and go where I don’t know.  But as they leave they recede into darkness from my perspective.  They all go out into the dark world around us to do the will of He who is Light.  Though I don’t see them His work is accomplished every day.  He places His mighty hand before them as they walk away.  Directing their minds and hearts, even as I watch their backs leave my sight.

We may not see each other again in this place of testing.  But I know they serve the same Lord as I.  They are His and they do His will.  Yet there is another, more marvelous, thought.  Someone watched me go from there.  As I went out to serve Him, did anyone else notice how I faded into the dark world?  And does it matter that I might not have been noticed for the Glorious One’s Name?

It was just a moment of revelation.  Yet it builds the warrior up to do what is right without acclaim.  It is He who will be glorified by those who He teaches to love Him.  All Glory to the One who gives new life!
