“I Found One!”

Puzzle piece

Two people work together to put a puzzle together.  It’s not a small puzzle, built for a child.  There are 600,294,385,001 pieces.  And they search with furrowed brows to find even one match.

“I found one!”  One of the people screams out with great joy.  The other’s head levels with inspecting eyes.  “Are you sure?”  Deft little fingers put the two together.  All the edges match perfectly.  The colors blend in seamlessly.  “YES!”

“What is it?”  A pause ensues.  Turning the two joined pieces around and around, they inspect the item of joy for any hope of understanding.  But in the end there is no possible way to know what it truly is.  Oh there’s colors that could be identified in various ways.  But in the end, there is simply joy that an answer has been found.  And back to their work they go.  But now they search with a renewed vigor.  For they have been given proof that some of the pieces DO fit.

This is what walking with God in Christ Jesus is like.  We hold in our hands only the answers we know we have found.   But we leave the Glory of understanding the bigger picture to the Lord who supplied both the puzzle and the two who work together.

What or Why

In understanding life, far too many ask the wrong line of questions.  Instead of asking “What”, we find asking “Why” to be far more fruitful.   When we begin to ask why, we begin to receive answers that “What” can’t supply.  Even so, when many begin to understand the answers they get, they don’t like them.  So they return to asking “what”.  But if you endure, and are willing to receive the truth, “why” will provide them.  In the end, you will find Jesus as the answer.  Asking “what” things are is a matter of definition.  It becomes a simple exercise of language.  People who have no serious interest in understanding life limit their questions to “what”.

And let us remember that “why” is the central question of young children.  And look at how irritating that gets to their parents.  Could it be that the parents haven’t asked “why” enough?

The Rants of an Old Man

Yelling Bird

The story is told of a man; times of old.

Who ran through the streets all alone.

His yell could be heard above all the herd,

As he spoke of judgment to come.

So tired of he, did the people become.

He simply became “just a noise”.

And they went bout their day, without notice of him

Paying deafness, as if his reward.

Till one passerby was struck by the plight,

Of this old man who no one did notice.

So he stopped the old man and spoke with concern,

“Why do you make such a fuss?

You yell and you scream, as if to arouse.

But none of us pay you a thought.

So why do you insist in becoming a stench?

Surely you notice your lot.”

The old man stopped moving, his face became soft.

And his eyes danced as he looked deep within.

Then a frown slowly grew, and his eyes became strong.

And he focused on this one who would ask.

“I don’t scream for you, nor the hoard all about;

These words of Truth and Sure Terror.

I make such a noise, and travel about

For the sake of my own soul, my friend.”

Police Officer Jailed for Jailing Law Breaker

It has come to my attention that I have a distinct and vibrant hatred for the pride of man.  Now, I would take offence at that but I can’t.  I remember we are told to hate what is evil and cling to what is good.

Don’t take my hatred for the pride of man to mean that I hate man.  In this particularly vibrant hatred, I actually take some solace.  Some might assume that I mean to commit a hate crime.  But we don’t charge police officers with a crime for jailing one who has broken the law of society.  Or maybe times have changed and I haven’t noticed.  This could be.  There has been a whole lot of liberal thinking running amuck lately.

Just a note:  In selecting the tags for this post, I simply clicked “Apply all.”  Personally I see no sense to be politically correct here.  And WordPress seems to know what I mean by what I type.

Just one more note:  The picture is the best shot I could get of the Policeman………. LOL

“The Faith”, Fuel to Drive into Eternity.

When the Son of man returns, will He find The Faith?  My soul is given pause to consider the meaning of this.  I take note that it is not called faith.  The Lord was speaking of “The Faith”.

The Faith is not the faith of demons or the wicked men of this world.  To them, faith might mean anything.  Or it might mean an awareness that there is a God.  The Faith, however, is not like that.  The Faith we have in Christ Jesus teaches us to do the will of the Father in Heaven.  It teaches us all things good (The Good of God).  It teaches us to abstain (that is to “not do”) the things of this world; it teaches us to say “no” to sin and “yes” to the Righteousness which comes from God.

Don’t let the world fool you into believing that Jesus will receive everyone because they intended to be a good person.  Only what is God will survive the judgment.  And to whatever extent God’s will lives in you and is accomplished through you, this is the part of you which will survive the coming judgment.

So I am given pause to consider the things of God within me.   Jesus offers, we receive.  One without the other is no faith at all.

Wings of Vapor, Muscles of Iron

Canada Goose flying

The Geese fly over head, speaking words of encouragement to one another.  Noticing how majestic their formation remains as the winds beat against their path, I marvel at their unity.  They have one purpose, yet does any one of them know the destination of sleep tonight?  I consider their strength as they push through what cannot be seen to arrive at a place unknown.  Their muscles are steel chords, flexing wings of vapor.  How majestic is the Lord’s creation!  How much more has He in store for those who He has set apart to worship Him forever?

He has shown us what is good, and what is to be desired.  Speak kind words of encouragement to one another as you travel to the marks along your path.  We speak the language foreign to the world.  Love one another with a unity born of Heaven.  We have One Lord and One purpose; that we might learn to please Him in this place of testing.  Those who are called “out” will mount up on wings as eagles (or geese, house wrens, hawks, bats, bugs or whatever you chose to be compared to. . .).   Where was I?  Oh yea. . .  “Bugs?”  At least rats and slugs don’t have wings.  Thank you Lord!  I’d rather not be compared to a rat or a slug.  Certainly not by You.
