Pure

In the early days of Christianity the word pure did not have the same definition as it does today. Today we might think about pure sugar, pure water, pure chemicals and the like.  These things are edible or usable because they are pure. But we say “pure” from our own perspective.  We who are impure call something better by a word that does not apply to us.

We all die and we will all appear before the Pure God.  Most people are aware of this truth.  But few give the concept the priority it demands.  To clarify what I’m trying to say let me play with a concept for a minute.

Let’s say I had a disintegrator gun and it was set to simply remove impure attributes. You consent (by signing 437 consent forms) and I begin to remove from you the things that are impure.

First the ray works on your clothing for it was made with impure thread.  Then the dirt on your skin is its object, for the dirt is impure.  When it reaches the end of the dirt it find your skin but your skin is not pure, it is removed.  Next your bones and organs until finally all that is left is your soul.  But will the ray stop there?  Sadly no.  Now it goes after lies of every sort.

When the ray is finished we take note of you that you are a micro- scopic speck of existence. That’s all of you that was true.

While I’m finishing up this article someone says “wait”! The scientists who were wielding the gun come running to me.  “Sir I’m sorry we have to admit to an error. The speck of life form we detected is not the person we begin with. Apparently the speck is simply the essence of life.  We have determined that the speck belongs to God.  Sir there is nothing left of the person we begin with”.

The ultimate reward

What is the ultimate reward within the hands of the Lord Jesus for anyone?  Perhaps we could find the answer to that by looking at Matthew chapter 12 verse 27.
“And no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him”.
I don’t know about anyone else.  But to be privileged enough to see the father is supreme.  We are told that no one will see God without a pure heart. How should my heart becomes pure except God will give me the gift.
I am putting mind of another verse, “. . . and they show all know me from the least of them to the greatest”.
Therefore in my mind, the greatest reward the Lord can offer anyone is that that someone sees eternal life.

Choose Your Place

Only the pure of heart will see God.  How seriously do we take that truth?  Are we lax in our dedication toward a pure heart because we don’t know the outcome for impurity?
Has anyone ever pointed out the following to you?  “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.  Outside are the dogs, those who practise magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practises falsehood”.  (Rev. 22: 14, 15)
It doesn’t matter if you believe this or not: Those outside the city do not get to enter the Holy City of God, nor get to eat from the tree of life.  Is that where you REALLY want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven?  Where if a man dies before he is 1000, he will be considered to have been a sinner.  None of those who are allowed to enter the gates of God’s City will ever again taste death!  What we do here matters, friends.  Who we worship matters.  And who we allow Jesus to make us into matters.
