It’s a Breeze!

“Believe in the name of Jesus and you will be saved”.  I can do that.

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”.  I can do that!   Friends, good words and potlucks.  Yeah, I can do that!

“Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”  Um, uh……….   ok.  I can do that.

Christianity seems simple, at first.  It seems even easy, at the start.  But a man soon learns that the Lord requires more from us than we are willing or able to provide without Him.

“Perfect.  Now He has us where He wants all His people:  living on the very edge of life.  Hanging our feet over the edge; between flesh and Spirit.  Easy?  Not likely.

Who will remember you then?

They swim on the waves.

Tossed about, thrashed and nearly drowned.

Promises of sprouting wings.

Within their heart resounds.

Then one day fulfillment comes.

Of what was once a dream.

They cry, Oh Lord, the sky is mine!

No more water bound”!

We die and face the judgment.
But not as those condemned.

A place is found among His flock.

Its real!  No more pretend.

And 30 years as men count years,

Will pass in blissful state.

How can the water come to mind.

Whose  bonds the Lord did break.

With words of woe you kept us low.

You thought we would remain.

But you did not consider the way it was to be.

The hand of God in Jesus too powerful to restrain.

Folly at its Best

There is no crisis better than the one which gives those in power a chance to grab more to themselves.   There is no greater folly than to do oneself more damage by refusing to admit an error.

If there is a distinguishing difference between Christians and non-believers, it is that they recognize their folly and are willing to approach the Lord because of it.  Darkness hates the light and will not come into it for fear that its deeds may be seen.

It has been said the Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.  But to complete that phrase is the requirement that men who approach the Lord, to bear their folly, are willing to receive correction.

It is a horrible weight to bear ones on folly before the Lord.  It is folly upon folly to retain this stupidity in spite of knowing better.  For the judgment will show each man’s work according to truth. It is far better to receive failure because of our folly; the scorn of men rather than the scorn of God.

The man who writes this knows this to be true for I am a fool.

The Making of a Christian Mind.

I used to war with atheists.   In retrospect, however, the battles weren’t intended to convert them.  I began to see the odds of conversion rather piqued indeed.  I don’t even know if any of those men would remember our “lively” conversations.

No, the reason for those battles was to hone my own skills in The Gospel.  And it was quite effective.

Many thanks, then, to godless men.  By your hatred for God, you have bolstered one of His people.  Keep up the good work!

Love or lust

The father loves the Son with an undying eternal love.  The joy and bond between them has no separation or limit . Nothing in all creation compares to the love of God for His Son.

Come Christmas time you will find the world loving the Son, as they will say.  But the love of the world for the Son is of no effect.

Let us prove it with the following scenario.  Let there be a hundred people standing around a manger scene and listening to carols.  Then, while they are singing and happily enjoying the moment, let someone drop 10,000 dollar bills from a high rise apartment directly over them.

What do you think the outcome will be?  If they do not love God more than the things of this world how can they say they love him at all?

Broken Trust, Defiled Position

We created positions of trust in this country.  Such positions were created so that men of trust could watch over us.  These are much like the positions a mother holds with her children.  Or the positions of father may hold over the family.

But you have corrupted these positions for your own greedy purposes.  By these things, and more, you have proven yourself ungodly and untrustworthy.

To what else could we liken you?  You could be likened to those who may break the Lord’s command, ” do not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk”.  Disgrace is the legacy you are about to leave,

By His Grace.
