At “Least”, There is Hope

I had a very short dream this morning.  I and some loved ones were cleaning the house.  I don’t know what I was doing but I was not cleaning I was organizing or polishing or something.

Someone sent someone somewhere else to do something else and I asked to be able to go clean.  The newer member of the family said to me, “Are you sure you want to do that?  You don’t do well when it comes to detail”.

His comment was true and it cut my heart like a knife.  I woke from the dream and did not go back to sleep.

For hours this morning I have pondered the meaning of this dream and it is not obscure.  In fact it reveals something that all men struggle with.  And though that is true it is not less painful to speak of it.  In this topic there is no safety in numbers.

There are great men and there are small men.  There are some who are able to do wonderous things, and there are some who can barely learn to tie their shoes by themselves.  The pitiful thing is that the majority of us fall somewhere in between.  We are neither great, so as to be praised nor small, so as to be coddled.  Most of us are forced to accept who we are, silently suffering a peculiar loss.

Please forgive the length of this article, but there is more to discuss.

In this world we have tribulation.  Men will push each other out of the way.  Men will kill one another.  Men will despise one another.   And men will trample one another.  You will be told you don’t matter in a variety of ways.  And if by chance this “telling” falls on truth your shame is within you.  So their attack is far more painful than they realize.  Yes, in this world we have tribulation.

If this were the extent of our being who could stand to live another moment.  But there is something that is so much more than flesh.  There is a life that is not full of tribulation.  And without further adieu, I introduce you to Jesus, The Son of God.

He will accept you specifically as you are; even as you grow in Him, or possibly regress from time to time.  In him there is no abuse because you are not the greatest.  There is hope for every one of his people to become what they envision they are able to become.  And where do his people get their vision?  They receive from the Word of God, the Bible

All that the Lord asks of us is that we continue to try.  Now someone may ask me, “Try what”? Let us allow the Lord to speak on his own behalf in this matter.

“He has shown you, O mortal,
what is good.

And what does the LORD require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy

and to walk humbly (prudently) with
Your God.  (Micah 6: 8)

And if by chance you find you are unable to do any of those three, the living God is quite able to teach you how.

In Jesus there is freedom to be least, as well as freedom to be great.  Only bring him your desire.  Only believe in him.  Only wait on the Lord.

The Living Art of The Living God

I see the young man.  He strides about like a little superman.  He will never loose, and if he does it’s not a fault of his.  (he’s only got a few moves to perfect.)   I look at him and remember, “Let us make man in our image”.

Please everybody, notice the young woman.  Isn’t that what all the “bling” is saying?  I look at her and remember the women I’ve met who were in their 80’s.  The bling wears off, breaks or gets lost somewhere between the first born and retirement.  Weight and wrinkles replace the tools of wicked enticement.

Let them parade.  Who will affect their pageant of pride, flesh and greed?   But may God have mercy to teach them what they could not learn from elders: humility, holiness, propriety, mercy and restraint of desire.

I turn my eyes.  Even witnessing their wicked display of youth seems a sin.  Yet, even now, I remember my own years of utter folly.  How many and who had to turn their eyes away from me?

God is He who saves.  When He moves hearts are changed.  Where He is life sprouts up.  And Holiness attends His presence as a shimmering shadow of brilliant light.

May the Living God have mercy on the youth of America.  If not, they will die in the millions.  For what sin will ever find an audience with the Lord of Life?

Riding the wind

How amazing it is!  How delicately horrific!  Finding peace in a hurricane; joy in a tornado.

Who can find the strength to plow when the very ground beneath your feet is ripped to oblivion?   And what shelter in what cave will you find when the very rocks themselves are thrown about?

If by chance you seek a friend, his face becomes filled with terror as he sees your life.  Isolation, faith and trust these are what remain.

The Lord himself has encased you in testing.  Yet you will stand even if death consumes you.  He made you.  He bought you.  He promised you.  He loves you.  And by the torrent of testing the proof is upon you.

All praise to God the Father through Jesus, His Christ!  He alone is true.  He alone is good.  He alone can be trusted.  He is the living God.

Comparison of interest

I remember how it was before the Lord opened my mind.  I cared very little about what I did as long as others didn’t punish me for it.

There seem to be a particular delight in speaking of things that were righteous, joking about them to make them unholy.  The more vile the more delight, and I rarely lacked friends to enjoy it with.

It seemed that joy came from the base things not the basic things.  Wouldn’t one expect that of an evil man.

But the Lord appeared and gave that man a different tongue.  Where the tongue had enjoyed what is sweet to the flesh, such things now became bitter.  And if by chance I could stomach the taste, the Lord changed my heart along with it.

There is a food for the soul which the body knows nothing about.  Many men have fasted for weeks; while their heart feasted on a great banquet.

Where before nothing was forbidden, now only certain things are acceptable.  But it is no loss.  The fact is, what is now less is far more satisfying than all that was.  And shame has made way for peace.

All of this has come to be because Jesus first loved me.

A reflection of Fog at Twilight

“In Him we live and move and have our being”.

“Now we see as through a glass darkly”.

I speak but I am limit.  I understand but only through destruction.  I use words but they are limited by my vocabulary.  And if I happen to say the right things would I perceive it? Could you hear it?

Before “this” was, there was more.  When this place is gone, eternity will lack nothing for its demise.  What was before is living and cannot die. What will be is the same as what was.

” Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever”.  “Those who put their hope in Him will never be ashamed”.

We who place our hope in him were not, now we are and we will never die.  Perhaps you think this is too much to say.  God does not lie and God has promised this.
