The Lid

Fill a box with stink and keep the lid on for a few years.  Throw a party and celebrate the opening of the box.  Then, when the time is right.  Gather everyone around and have a ceremony of some kind, just to make it look like it’s alright to take the lid off.

Now, during the ceremony tell people they have more than a “right” to open this box.  They have an obligation to future generations to celebrate this opening.  Work them up now.  Make them start to gasp, hoot and holler at their role in societal evolution.

Open the box!  Let the stench waft through the room.  Watch their faces as their noses catch wind.  Sounds of gasps, near vomit, and revulsion go through the crowd.  But you’ve whipped em up pretty good.  They stand their ground.

Can you put that lid back on after its been opened?  Sure you can.  But you can’t put the lid on the minds of those you’ve infected with stupidity.  So it is with the immorality in America.  Once the conscience is seared, how can the scar be removed?  Forgiveness might heal the heart.  But the mind will struggle to forget.  Not to mention the problem with getting those “sinners” to band together and teach that their way was evil and that the youth should not follow their example.  Very unlikely.

By His Grace.
