I just realized something precious.  When I write I am free to write. 

I have no church quota to build.  I am not responsible to a body of elders.  The appearance of the words I am given to write are not subject to the payment of salary.  And I do not live in a house that belongs to the many.

I am not saying that all these things are horrific and should never a company a man who speaks about God.  I was simply counting up my blessings and took note of the freedom which Christ has given me my life.

I cannot discount the value of accountability among godly men.  Such accountability is responsible for bringing us many glorious things in Christ.

Perhaps it is so that if a man finds that for which he is made there is peace and joy among all his blessings.  To the shepherds of God’s flock we would expect certain blessings and desires to manifest themselves.

Likewise, though I would be hard pressed to identify my role in the body of Christ, I find certain blessings and desires made manifest.  And they do not present themselves as I would expect from a shepherd.  Rather they are the blessings I would expect in a hermit.

All of this I have written to give thanks and glory to God in Christ Jesus.  He alone raises up as he sees fit according to his great wisdom and for the sake of his body.

I ask your forgiveness.  I did not intend to write such a lengthy article. Perhaps this writing will be useful to some who’s gift and blessings and desires are at variance with the expectations of the church.

If you still think the things of this world hold any value before the throne of The Living God, allow the following words to settle within your mind and heart.  “How many put on wedding clothes last night?”

Too often we get caught up in the sin of this world or the work we are doing for the sake of Christ.  Too often we forget the “end game”.  The only thing that matters is obedience to the commands of Jesus.  If you’re living there then you have reason to hope.  If you’re not you have reason to fear.  What else can be said?
