I listen to a preacher say that lot did Abraham wrong by taking the greener more lucrative pasture.  I’m afraid, dear Sir, I have to defer.

Lot: took the easy road.  For that he did not develop the muscles and the strong skin as did Abraham.  He became captive in a wicked city.  While Abraham remained free to follow the Lord’s will.

Sin and sinners take the easy road.  And that’s where lot found himself living.  Because of his choice lot lost his wife.  While Abraham  buried his loving wife under a special tree.

Take the easy road if that pleases you.  By the lesson I learned here I will strive to endure.  May God grant wisdom where we lack.

Many things truth says can cut very deeply.  And it is foolish to deny that truth is a double edge sword.  The one who speaks about truth is just as likely to be cut  as the one who hears.  Nevertheless we are compelled to teach what we learn, or at least what we have heard.

Our inability to walk as God commands us will find its root in our willingness to listen.  Even though we have not yet heard the call to higher obedience,  we have certainly heard the call to lesser obedience.   If we had learned our lesson well before, we would find our ears willing to hear the next command.

The obvious question must then be asked.  It does no good for me to ask you the question.  Nor is it profitable that I should be asked by anyone.  For the answer must appear in action, not in words.

Are you living up to what you have already learned?

All day long the godless accuse God’s people of every wicked thing done among men.  We are counted with human waste by people who claim to “love one another”.  So be it.  If we believed the same lies they do we would not be counted as trash.  Yet, if they will come and learn from our Lord they will also become counted as trash.

Come.  Taste the Lord who died at your hands.  Come.  He is willing to forgive and transform you from accusing murderers to godly disciples.   Why die?  Why remain as a child of the father of lies?  Come die with us in His Holy name.

Wrong: “Be thankful or get your butt kicked!”

Right: “As you believe thanks will flow like a river”.

We are condemned to hell already.  His release is the additional option to life.  What sane person is thankful for a promised beating?  What sane person is thankless when they realize their life was saved?

Today’s man says, “You got 2 seconds to get my attention.  If you want me to listen to you, you better come on strong.”

God asks, “How much time passes between death and judgment?”
