The eternal wall

There is a wall that not even the thoughts of man can scale.  It bars the way between wickedness and Holiness.  It is made with gigantic smooth black rocks.  Nothing unholy will ever appear on the other side.  Nothing of flesh will ever see its top.

The wicked live in the dark and do not even perceive the wall.  Though  we warn them of their plight they see us only as great jesters.

The Lord Himself has built this wall.  It will never be breached nor done away with.  What then should be our response?

Up

If all we do is occasionally look up at God how might that be interpreted?  Perhaps the sins of the man have overcome him and he cannot speak for fear.  Perhaps it is a simple longing and desire that God were real.  How can either be fulfilling to the Lord?

It is better to share a deep and burning desire for holiness with him.  In this we do not just look to heaven, we reach.  And we do not just reach to the end of our arm.  But with all of our might we are up on tiptoe.   Stretching every joint of our body. Reaching out our fingers that the last scale of skin might be found desiring Him!

“Interpret that, dear lord, interpret that!

Desire

Standing with the radiant Glory of God blazing in the distance he found himself pining away for what no longer exists.   “Oh, that I might drive my beautiful car through Autumn leaves on a sunny day”!

There are no cars, leaves, sunny days, or pleasures in Hell.  There is only longing unfulfilled.

At that immeasurable distance, beneath the glowing radiance of God’s Glory, the people of God find themselves immersed in unexpected joys and pleasures which cannot fade.  Longing has been cast into Hell.  Peace and joy now fill their hearts and minds.

Fill your soul with the promise of God in Christ Jesus.  Leave these rusting pleasures while you still can make that choice.  When the day closes around us we are sealed forever.  What we desired becomes what we are eternally.

God has spoken truth.  Both promise of horrors and joy are real.  He cannot lie.  Please allow wisdom to come to the surface.

Offenses

Good morning Lord.

Father, by my very nature I am an offense to other men.  For I, like them, have needs in this place of limit.  It is impossible that my life should not offend someone.  This cannot be helped. It will be as if we all reach for the same last piece of bread.

But my soul is filled with desire for You.  By this I become an offence to many.  I would not have it any other way, Lord Jesus.  And I am filled in such a way that this desire spills out all day long.  So be it.

I cannot cease the first offense unless I leave this place.   And I will not trade the second offense for any reason,  for when I leave the first I am with You.

Only, help me please, that the offences belong entirely to them.  You are filled with wisdom and power.  Cover me with the portion You are willing to give me.  Let me witness and serve out of Your pure heart.

I have said “good morning” as best I can.   I will wait to witness His reply.  And will count the blessings on my pillow.

By Your Grace.
