Boneless people

In a world of boneless people two gelatinous  blobs decided to help one another.  They wiggled and jiggled and rolled until they were side by side.  Then they began to help each other.

Since they had no bones they could not lift their arms.  Their fingers were but tiny flaps of skin.  But they did have eyes and mouths.  And with these they spent their days helping one another.

One day the Lord Jesus passed by.  Their love for one another touched him.  He stood near them until they went to sleep that night.   With his heart full of caring he gave the men bones in their arms and hands.

When the men awoke they were delighted with their new ability.  They scratched what itches they could reach.  And they found themselves so much more capable of taking care of one another.  By reaching out and pulling or pushing they could move from one place to another.  And so, full of joy, they gave thanks to God and fell asleep at the end of the first day.

That night the Lord Jesus came by again.  He saw how they had taken care of one another with their newfound strength.  He took note that they had put salve on each other’s bed sores, and moved some of the obstacles that had prevented their comfort.  Their efforts together pleased Him, so he gave them bones in their body.  But the Lord withheld the bones for their legs and feet.

The Sun rose upon the friends and found them sitting up.  With their newfound perch their eyes could see farther than before.  They spent the day again helping one another and speaking of the beauty that had surrounded them.  Finally, with many tasks accomplished, and a lengthy prayer of thanks, the pair fell asleep for the night.

By wise design the Lord stayed away from the pair for 7 days.  When he came near them it was at the close of the 7th day and he found them sleeping.  He walked about their encampment and was amazed at their ingenuity.

A table has been built for two.  2 beds held the sleeping friends.  A tiny cabin surrounded them.  A fire pit was framed by two chairs.  And the door to their tiny cabin was wide enough to allow two men to pass through at the same time.

The Lord was greatly pleased.  He had purposed to wait for 7 days to see how these men would use their newfound gift.  To his joy they had done as was required for they had turned their gifts toward helping one another.

With a beaming smile and soft teary eyes the Lord touch them and gave them bones in their legs and feet.  Then very softly he lowered his head between the two men and whispered, “Hear me my friends.  Sleep while you listen.  Because you have discarded selfishness, I love you.  And now I will give you a token of my love.  See, I have given you legs so that together you might go about and teach others the way that you have learned.”   With that the Lord kissed them and went on his way.

When the pair awoke they were full of joy and gave great thanks to God.  They spent the rest of their lives teaching others how to be selfless.  And the Lord came behind granting bones here and there.

A sermon for the rich man

The rich man desired that Lazarus  should be sent to his brothers lest they come to hell also.   Abraham told him that even if someone rises from the dead they would not believe.   I would suspect that the rich man and his brothers had been rather godless folk.

Well here we are!   Look at us preach day n night.  Look how we strive to explain.  And where are the godless folk?  Do we see them rushing to listen?  No their feet are set in the same path as their brothers.

Apparently someone is telling them that all souls will be saved.   If this is true why did God send His Son to die on a cross for our sins?

Listen you godless folk.  Hell is real!  It is the destiny of those who spurn the living God.  And we know there is at least one of your number that desires you to stay away from his new home.  All you need to do is humble yourself and ask God to teach you.

The “Trip”

All day long and into the wee hours of the night men complain about the place where they live.  They say with a whiny nasal inflection, ” I have to work tomorrow”.  Or they may complain that they don’t like the taste of a certain food.  But it seems to me complaining drives society.

With that in mind I have only one question.

Are we there yet?

Chopin up the time

Each day is carved into 24 sections.  Each section is carved 60 times more.  Those 60 more sections are carved again 60 times.   Of those 86400 sections, how many do you let God have?

If you are 40 years old you have lived through over 3.5 million seconds.  How many of those did you let God own?

If you live to be 80 you will have passed through nearly 7 million seconds.  Did God own more then 400,000?

We gladly receive eternity from him what do we give thanks?image

Paul Walker. Are you serious?

How many people died on Saturday November 30th 2013?  How many babies were still born?  How many moms and dads died leaving children behind?  How many young men and women were murdered?  And how many thousands of souls appeared in to heaven because of War?

And we get tore up because of an actor Paul Walker?  Are you kidding me?!!!image

America, your ability to prioritize sucks! You treat the television and the movie screen as if they are family. Why don’t you go to buy a bunch of dolls and call them your sons and daughters?

You consider it your joyful duty to obey the media. Think this way, dress that like, this I hate that I love. You will obey them and never question! The media has become your God. And your life takes on a tint of folly.

You are so much more! Christ Jesus is so much more! But you would not hear my words. I don’t speak in surround sound and high definition.

Have at your god then. The media is so small you are embarrassed at that remark. Even in your evil heart you know that what I say is true. No man will ever have an excuse for rejecting the living God.
