Rejection = Murder

I know why displaying public affection for Jesus is a no no.

Why would the people who murdered the Christ want to be anywhere near his Father?

A Letter

“Dear” demons:

I write this letter so that others will know you are still around.  Your buddies have done a pretty good job of convincing people that you don’t exist.  So I think it’s only fitting that I should send out notice.

Sometimes it takes me awhile, but I always seem to figure out whose vile thoughts plague my mind.  It’s you.

I know you can’t manipulate me.  You can only whisper sweet nothings to the wickedness that’s already in me.  That gives me some joy.  It’s good to know that you can’t do anything to me unless I agree.  And it’s good to know that you only play on the parts of me that have nothing to do with my Lord Jesus.

You are wicked beyond the human imagination.  And apparently you have no ability to bring pleasure to yourself.  Frankly, you’re nothing more than a vicarious vulture, just waiting for the desire for God to languish.

All this is fine.  The Living God has made contingency for you and for me.  It’s good to remind us that he is Hope in Jesus.  And somehow it makes me feel better to remind you that your end is destruction.

Have a hopeless day.

Sincerely, Me.

The Reality of Freedom

People like to say they are free.  They love to dream about being free.  Free to do as they please.  Free to fly.  Free to imagine all kinds of surreal joys.  But frankly, we don’t know what freedom is.

How about these:

Free to live forever.
Free to love without  reservation or suspicion.
Free to move without any physical restraint.
Forever free from Pain, anxiety, fear, doubt, and any other negative experience.
Free from lies, temptation, forgetfulness, mistakes, harassment, anger, and so on.

And all this freedom forever!

What people want, what they dream about all day and all night, is in the hands of Jesus to give.  What does he ask in return?  “Love me more than these.”

Love -VS- Fear

Love has a name.  So does fear.  The first is referred to as Light.  The second is utter Darkness.  Where there is no light, the darkness muses like a toxic fume.  But even a lantern can dispel enough for a man to work.

Food for thought.

Making Christians

This place is filled with words.  There are virtually no movies.  Pictures are sparse.  Music is virtually non-existent.  All I have is words.

They sit here like gold in the ground.  It’s not that my words are beautiful and holy and Majestic.  But they can certainly lead anyone to that place.

I asked the Lord repeatedly to open the hearts and minds of a certain few.  Today I received a response.  “Let them desire it”.

I can’t make anyone into a Christian.  I can’t give them eternal life.  All I can do, and it is enough, is point the way to the One who is all Good things.  All I can say is, and quite repeatedly, humble yourself before God that you may live.  Life is in His hands.  The choice is in yours.

The Engine of Peace

I look at what Man has accomplished.  How he has established law, regulation, procedure, and expectations, to force love upon the people for one another.  What I see is that punishment is the motivator.  Look with truth and you will see it also.

If you do what is evil the law will come and take from you.  If you contribute according to the law of the land you will reap what they say is great benefit.

I see how they encourage one another to do good works.  But again, the motivator is gain or severe loss.

Every day, every man wakes knowing that if he does not do what is expected he will lose horribly.  This is not the gospel of Christ.  It is the so-called good news of Man.

This good news of Man is dependent on the resources available.  There’s only so much money in the world.  There’s only so much food.  Politics restrains the gain for all.  And the vast majority find themselves suffering loss as the sun goes down on each day.  Even the so-called winners are exhausted from their efforts.  And there’s no need to itemize the broken families the come from the so-called good news.

In this good news of Man greed must be honed to a fine edge.  Look at the advent of training and implements that has been made available to help.  In all these things, the motivation for adherence comes from outside the man.

You know what’s funny?  With all this trust toward the ability of Man to create peace, the world is no better off.

What does God say?  “14 . . . if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  (2 chronicles 7)   This Promise of God does not present itself as a manipulation.  It’s the offer of free and complete help.

Take note of how God strips the strength of greed.  In its place he only requires humility.

This is no empty promise.  But who will take up the mantle and respond?
