Christmas?

OK, it caught my interest. I went looking at the news this morning. I looked at world news. I looked at national news. I looked at local news in various places. I looked at politics. I looked at storms. Yeah I know, I was pretty bored.

But I come away with something very interesting. I found out how to be incredibly offensive. I’ll try to describe it in very few words.

The petty nature of human interest is astounding. And it seems to be a year long tragedy. I always expect, stupidly I will admit, that the Christmas season will heighten the people’s regard for the living God and his holy son. But it really doesn’t. Instead of pondering the beautiful things of heaven and eternity, the people focus on Christmas lights, presents, good works, good stories, and so on. Their interest is solely human.

I’m interested in this because I realize that pointing this out is offensive to almost everybody. Really? How offended would you be if you intended to give good things to someone in need and they just turned away from you as if you didn’t exist? That’s what humanity does to God. And I see them do it all year long. Worse than that, they ignore the giver and praise their personal holiday about him!!!!!!!!!!

End of post.

A billion thoughts about this are swarming around my head. But apparently the majority of people don’t have to worry about being swarmed by thoughts of holiness. If they did, surely the news media would pick it up.

The Accused

There are a lot of misunderstandings and superstitions about the gospel. Most people would make a very poor defense attorney. They balance the truth of Jesus on hearsay and supposition. They condemn him as less than useful without giving due diligence to his laws and words.

If you were innocent of a crime would you want these kind of people to represent you? If we wouldn’t like that kind of treatment on earth, why do we treat heaven with such contempt?

Curiously enough, it’s these lackluster defense attorneys who will be the ones who land in jail. The one who stands accused by them has been released by the judge of all. In fact, the accused has been pronounced the judge!

The Landscape

The wicked creatures crawl around in the darkness. They are not searching for release from their agony. There is none to attain. Resigned to what they do, they have no regard for what is Good.

The objects in their path are familiar enough to avoid. They move from one to another like monkeys playing in a cage. Caged in a place that has been theirs for thousands of years.

They seek only one thing, implant their perverted pleasure into the minds of Man. The essence of their work is simple, “Teach the Man to avoid God”.

Are they adept at what they do? Take a good look around.

Do you hear what I hear?

“When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart.”

Do you hear what I hear?

“A child, a child,

shivers in the cold

let us bring him

Silver and gold.”

What good is our profit

When the cross is in sight;

When he strained so hard

That glorious night?

Let his body be covered

With bleeding sweat.

Father’s will to be done!

And yet.

The pageantry of Christmas.

Some shiny toy, a new dress.

Does this keep warm

The Word of God?

Does this help the message

Be cast abroad?

Or is it something deep within;

Someplace that’s hidden

From our sin.

_______

Do you hear what I hear,

Whispered in the streets?

The silver and gold

He desires so

Cannot be carried

By feet.

________

Believe! Believe!

Deep down in your soul.

Let the seed of Word

Have a place.

“Come in, come in.

Come out of the cold.

Let me taste

The meaning of gold.”

Find me

Are used to post all my things here.  But it got such a tiny audience it was hardly worth my time.  Now I post here only the things that are worth mention.  At least they’re worthwhile in my opinion.

But in case anybody wants to see the other things I don’t post here, you can find me on Facebook.

I’m careful to reject the devils shills. So if you just happen to request to be a friend, mention Highway Christian.  Who knows what good might come.

Look for Paul Horton from Cardington Ohio.

Is Repetition Valuable

In our personal religion (that is to say, out response to what we know of God) there is an element of repetition. This repetition is necessary, by virtue of our state of affairs. But do we have room to receive something vastly beyond our petty repetition?

By the use of the word petty, I don’t mean that we are being childish (or even foolish and useless) in our repetition.

What I mean is that the way we perceive things is always shrouded by chaos and death. We may be doing well with what we have; those things we really understand correctly. But I’m convinced there’s something greatly more, and I’m convinced that it’s right to be so convinced.

I guess the question is this, “Is our religion designed so that we can be heard in Heaven? Or is it designed to hear what comes from the God who is absolutely life?” If our religion doesn’t give birth to the second, can it really be valuable?
