TO THE WILLFULLY ARROGANT

He gives man a place to do as a man pleases.

Wickedness thrives and the bloodshed is plentiful; blood of body, blood of soul, blood of mind, heart, and righteous potential.

But a moment comes.

The soul of every man is required.

Judgment is made, the man is sent to his proper place; his mouth shut, his hands bound forever.

Desire and prosper in what you will.

The Lord has desired and will prosper far above your reach.

Snatched away in a moment, eternity obeys God’s will.

Why Such Choices?

Why does someone say there is no God? Why does someone believe they cannot be saved, even though the testimony of the Gospel says otherwise?

Why does someone continue to trust their own strength, even though they have seen themselves fail miserably time after time, and have no hope that that will change? Instead of looking up to God and asking for help, in everything, they resign themselves to failure.

Scarred through and through, they continue to lead a helpless and hopeless life.

Why?

I don’t have a PhD in psychology. I don’t even have a Masters of anything. But I’m going to take a stab at the answer with one word, and I am absolutely sure I’m right.

PRIDE

Expected Usefulness

My left foot works just fine.

When I want to open the door, mindlessly, I command my hand to turn the knob and the door opens.

If I want to see where I’m going, all I have to do is raise my eyelids.

Like almost everyone else, I don’t see the miracle of this very often. My body is slave to my mind. There’s no need for pageantry regarding the foot, hand or eyelids.  But let any of these be injured so that they don’t work as they should, you’ll find me quite concerned for the welfare of my body.

The apostle John said “The true light, coming into the world, that gives light to every man”.

The light. Have we become complacent about righteousness?  Have we begun to treat it like our body?  We take for granted that we know what is right to do.   Where did we get that knowledge?

Complacency quickly evaporates when we realize we have done something stupid and violently broke the laws of God.

When is it the proper time to fall on our knees and give thanks that God himself has placed righteousness in our minds and hearts?  Without the Lord Jesus we would immediately fall into disrepair (No matter whether you believe in him or not.).

What Do You Rxpect?

The religion of the world worships in a temple.  It lay on the sand of ignorance, but temple was built with two materials. One material is expectations. The other material is assuming.

Here’s the question. Is the temple made of expectations or is it the foundation? Or is the temple made of assuming and the foundation is expectations?

This is not a “chicken or egg” debate. I am personally very curious about the matter.

Because if the foundation of world religion is expectations, I simply close my ears. But if the foundation is built on assuming, then I can expect that everything I am will be dragged through the mud of suspicion long before I am excepted on any level.

Don’t think the Christian Church is exempt from this trouble.

P. S.

Expectations are often written down as rules and regulations.

Assuming is a pure derivative of opinion.

What is the Measure?

He moved into his new apartment. Of all the things he enjoyed, there was one new thing that intrigued him the most.  The kitchen faucet was different.

The first time he went for a glass of water, the faucet dispensed but a few drops.  Pulling his glass away, he turned it off then on again. A flow came out that would’ve filled his glass.  “How curious.”

He put his glass under the spigot again. Turning it on, he got one third glass of water.

Over the next few weeks it was like that for him. He asked no one for help, simply enjoying the intrigue.

We approach God in prayer, asking for many things. By our faith we expect a response. And surely enough, we get one.

Sometimes it’s but a dribble.  Sometimes we ask, with the weakest of faith. We walk away from prayer missing the overflow he intended to give. Without possibility of explanation, we know what we missed.  So our intent to gain faith strengthens.

But the giving seems random, doesn’t it.

Here is the understanding I reach tonight. The sum of his giving to us is not found in the small experiences we receive. The sum is found where the sum belongs; at the end of our life.

How many people give up because they are not satisfied with the small things he gives? Rather than remaining faithful, they turn away in disgust and futility. But the faithful remain, fully believing that God will accomplish those things he promised at the start.

Of course I want you to ponder these things. Of course I wrote this so that we all might benefit for the sake of God’s glory in Jesus. But doesn’t it break down to this, it is up to each of us to develop the faithfulness required

There is a wedding to attend. No wedding is complete without gifts.  And no gift will be accepted but those things which have come from God; The profitability of his Spirit at work in those who remain faithful.  Amass a mountain, or a mole hill if you will. But by all means and desire, bring him something.

Purpose

The river of will from God does not cease to flow simply because the man to whom it was sent says “no”.  Without judgment, it moves on to find another.  God’s intent will be done.

But what loss is there to the many who said no?   Name it.

Those who said “no”, do not know what profit they might have received.  How can they know the immense loss they keep from the lack of exchange?
