Curiosity is

It is not possible to live in Christ without testifying.   If we speak that testimony with words, then good.  But everything we are reflects who we have been willing to become before Him.  It can’t be hidden, not before every creature in heaven, nor every human on earth.

Has this come home to roost in our tree of understanding?   Have we come to place this truth in front of everything we think or do?  How would our life change if we forced ourselves to remember this, as if a “First” habit?

Give a young man a Ferrari for his birthday.  There will come a place where he will certainly test its ability.  Isn’t that the nature of humanity?  And isn’t that why we consider such parents to be foolish?

We are disciples of the Most High God in His Holy Son.  By the power of his endless Holy Spirit we serve Him.  Excuse me for stating the obvious, but how does a Ferrari compare?  Tell me, if you can, why do we suppress our natural tendency to “Give it all its got” when it comes to the promises of God?

Man is not stripped of curiosity when he becomes a Christian, in fact it is enhanced.  Despite the shocking ability of a Ferrari, it has a limit.  It requires a road, gasoline, and a human to drive it.

But what God offers us comes from his Eternal Sovereignty.  Why wouldn’t it be advisable to take some time and consider this?  What does God offer that we are not willing to test?  Why do Christians lay down their curiosity before they enter His Holy Throne?

Curiosity is not of the flesh.  It is a gift from God to our soul, that we may search out his marvelous willingness.  The flesh is only curious about the things it can get away with.  But our soul should be curious about the things we can receive.

If what you want are the Ferraris of this world, then yes, you are living in the flesh.  But if what you desire are the eternal things of God, then apply your curiosity to attain.

He has sealed his willingness to give, with the promise of the Holy Blood of His Holy Son.  How much more proof do we need, that he is willing to give us endlessly more than we can even imagine?
Let your soul enter.  Strap yourself in with the restraints of faith.  Place your frail foot on the Holy ground.  Prepare your heart for a mind shocking ride. Grip His promises with steel hands, and press your foot down hard. Why should we not try to find out how far God is willing to take us?

By His Grace

Eating the Tree

What is the stature of a holy man in Christ?  He does not gain one inch in breadth, width, length or depth.  It might even be said, in fact, that such a man shrinks physically.  For such a man’s physical stature is bent in service to others.  As pride is vanquished, he walks and works with eyes cast down.

The world perceives such a man through twisted pupils.  Darkened eyes perceive with extremely restricted perception.  They see a work or two, those works which cannot be hidden, and those works which were accomplished by error before men.  They refer to a holy man as a Saint.  But we cannot rely on their nomenclature.  What does the World know of what is holy?

If holy feeds them, they acknowledge a “good”.  If it causes sustaining of man’s desires, accolades are handed out.  And if holy produces financial gain, the World heralds the godly man as “profitable”.

But what is holy remains far beyond the perception of men.  It appears within a man, absent of physical form.  What men see, is much like the fruit of any productive tree at the time of harvest.  Men do not take home the leaves, bark, or limbs; they take the fruit.  And they do not call the fruit a tree.

Now consider something curious.  Men differentiate between the fruit they can eat and the tree from which it comes.  Yet they make no distinction between the work of God and the “work” of a man.  Instead, they refer to the man as holy, giving no credit to the work of God within the man.  Even in this, their hypocrisy abounds!

Arrival

Morning comes.

Despite the desire of drunkenness, daylight arrives.

Sleep ends.

Despite the depression of soul, waking dawns.

Sobriety dawns.

Despite the obsession with sin, Souls awake.

Judgment explodes.

Despite the secrets of man, Accounting yells.

Who was ready?

Who was prepared?

Who saw it coming?

Who shouts with joy?

Whose mouth is opened despite his will to keep it shut?

The Hungry Sea Creature

2061212_370I woke from sleep this morning, from a dream that most would call a nightmare.  A sea creature had taken to land.  It was a creature who had a taste for man.

I was perched on a narrow outcropping of rocks above the surf.  He was perched along a slightly lower place. With confidence, I challenged his right to hunger for the likes of me.

But, to my horrible surprise, he was able to reach toward where my feet stood.  I was in no fear of being caught.  But as he reached, the rocks beneath me began to loosen and fall into the sea, one by one.

“No need to remain in bed”, I thought.  So I got up to start the day.  It has taken two hours for this dream to find meaning.  But the meaning is more threatening than the dream.

The world moves from one moment to another.  What is past is like those rocks which were falling into the sea.  The foundation that saved me from becoming food, was a place I should not have been. Was I where I should be?  Hadn’t I remained too long in a place that was no longer useful?  If I had moved on from there, I would never had seen that creature.  I would not have been vulnerable.  I would never had known what follows.

God leads His people from place to place.  He is always drawing us nearer to His intended goal.  What we can be, in His Holy Power, lay before us.  What we were standing on, becomes a crumbling foundation.  The past is not a firm place to live. Security belongs to today.

The Living God’s protection applies to the moment.  It does not rest in the future, as some believe in the Gospel.  It does not reside in the past, as many waste away their lives in regret or accolade.  He is the NOW.  Remember, His Holy Name is “I AM”.

Christmas, Eternal

Today is the day, established by men, to give one another gifts.  They say it is to honor the Holy One of God.

Will you know the nature of the True Gift of God?  Is your soul strong enough to learn?blind

39 Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”

40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”

41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.”

How does the “giving” of man, to one another, compare?  The Holy One of God offers the gift of Life.  Will you stash it under green boughs? Will you wrap it in flammable paper?  Will you place the names of the dead within the labels?

What man gives rots, even as he prepares it to be received with joy.  But what God, in Christ Jesus, gives is a growing body of life; pure Light of Holy Life.

Will you pray with humility of soul, at the opening of each gift today?  Will you strive to give proper place to the Holy Gift of God?  Eye entrancing beauty adorns the gifts of men.  But the precious Holy Blood of the Son of God adorns the eternal offer.

Righteousness Silenced

There is a roar in those nations referred to as “advanced”.

A quaking of souls, massed together in humiliation,

Each one buzzes with desire.

Together a thunderous volume of hatred roars.

Against the Holy One they mummer.

For the love of sin they whisper their joy;

Now shouting with their unholy practice.

Do they think the din of unholy noise will not reach Heaven?

Adoring the parade of wicked desire.

Propriety is forced to hide;

That brilliant, lovely, gentle dressing of soul.

“Get away from us!  You have nothing to offer anymore.”

So they turn to perfumes to hide the stench.

They turn to guilded eyes to hide the darkness within.

Rich clothing, consuming of wages gained,

Adorning rotting bodies.

“Propriety is dead!  ‘Proper living’ is useless.

We will celebrate gain!  This we will elevate to holy worship.”

Chaos fills the desire of man.

Unholy things fill his unholy temples.

While the body rises to the strength of proud legs,

His soul slithers on the ground.

As the sharpened blade glints in the sunlight,

So his practices, unholy, glint in the Majesty of God.

As the blade sinks deep to cut off life,

So the practices of unholy men rest on their breast bone.

A tiny shove and life is over.

Let surprise show on their faces.

Let the Holy Lord of Life press truth against the handle.

Let temptation, enticing, lies, and desire,

Be pressed away from Him.

Salvation is offered.

But the One who offers is relegated,

To the shadows of a darkened alley.

Who will dare approach?

Who will brave death to embrace Life?

The Holy One’s promises are eternally true.

One is for death.

The other is for Life.

Rise from your drunken stupor!

You die the Death unrestrained.

How will you stand on that Horrible day for sinners?

What strength will your legs of flesh find,

When He rises to judge?

So be it!

Let your soul slither on the ground!

It is in proper posture already.

For every knee will bow,

Every tongue will confess,

That Jesus, the Christ of God, is King,

Lord,

Master,

Glory,

Honor,

Righteousness,

Faithfulness,

And Truth.

Amen, Amen, Amen!
