Today’s man says, “You got 2 seconds to get my attention. If you want me to listen to you, you better come on strong.”
God asks, “How much time passes between death and judgment?”

If a man is willing to compromise he can have 10 million friends in this world. But if a man will grasp and hold tight the singular word of God he will see his friends diminished.
The sad thing is, a man does not even need to be holy or righteous to watch his friends run away. All he needs to do is fall in love with God’s Word. The more a man reads it and speaks of it the less friends he will have.
God may refer to man by many different names. The best maybe “the bride of christ”. But the worst maybe “fuel”.
First we love God. For by that love we measure all things. His law is eternally beautiful. It remains within Him unbroken from eternity to eternity.
Next we receive His Grace and mercy in Christ, who is becoming our loving Husband. For by His gentle embrace we find security and surity of His promises.
Then we are free to love as He has first loved us, showed us the glorious law of His Father, and covered us with a costly garment.
By these we are set free to love our siblings and to be kind to the world from which we came.
By these our love of the brothers and sisters in Christ is tempered. By the scathing caress of God’s law we deliver the Gospel of our Husband. And by these things we are sure that unless God opens their eyes, they will never understand our words or ways.
Man in his foolish folly looks up at God and says, “Get down here and save me like you promised to do. It’s your fault that I am full of sin. You have an obligation to save me!” With that man reaches out his hand as if to grab God by the collar and pull him down.
God does not even bother to smile. “Here I remain in my glorious throne room. If you want me feel free to approach.”
You who think the Lord is an angry beast of a God:
You do so because you are His enemy. How does it make logical sense to consider your enemy in a good light? He desires you to become His friend. But your pride is holding you back.
Look how you curse His Holy name. Isn’t that to be expected? Won’t an enemy curse his foe? But that is not what God desires. He sits ready to forgive your unholy, godless, and utterly profane life.
Your enemy is beautiful, lovely, righteous, eternal, endlessly powerful, forgiving, and full of grace. This is what you hate. Don’t you think it a bit odd that you should hate what you adore in yourself and others?
Yet, we warn. Yet we speak on His behalf among men. Yet we invite as He has taught us to do. Yet we pour out our words and very lives to convince His enemies to enter His camp as friends. But who hears? Who understands? Who bends their wicked will so that they can peer out at what is Good?
8Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
9Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
10The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
11Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
13keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
14Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it. (Psalm 34)
