Futile Response

The eyes of a man see the things of a man. And from his perspective he is locked forever.

He will live and breathe, move and die, locked in a futile perspective of hopeless wasting. All the perspective of man can give us is its end result, death. And don’t we see the futility of that perspective being played out as people trying to grapple with the results of the election.

From gloating to riots, the perspective of man seeks violence.

All the while, the Mercy of God whispers, “Come to me and see these things from my point of view”.

Who will stop long enough in the morning to listen to the whisper? Who will let the grace of God massage their mind and heart? The answer is obvious as you see people dance in futility all day long; not many.

Jesus, the Christ of God, offers release from futility. To know about it is not the same as receiving it. Please take the time to think that through.

By His Grace.

Define Accomplishment

They say:
I’m a good dancer.
I know how to make lots of money.
I can do cartwheels.
I know how to drive fast.
I know all the fashions.
I know why everything works.
I can predict a storm.
I know human nature.

They say, an endless bevy of useless accomplishments.  For certainly age and death will come to take them all away.

Can they say:
I know how to dance with the Living God in the Gospel of His Holy and Righteous Son.
I know how to trust that God is in control, no matter what comes to me, no matter my expectations, no matter my understanding.

Can they say: death and old age cannot rip away from me the hope that is displayed in every corner of my life!

Can they say they see Christ in you?

Value-Driven Truth

I have not yet parsed the following truth into an edible format.  So please forgive me if it isn’t a cute little saying.  I’ll try to keep this very short, but it’s packed with volumes of understanding.

Pride and education are firmly bound together.

If I try to give free advice to someone, they are not likely to consider it very valuable.  It doesn’t matter how priceless the advice may be.  If it cost them nothing they equate free advice with trivia.  Or perhaps worse, that I’m meddling in their affairs.

On the other hand.  If I make someone pay tuition to sit in a classroom and receive that same advice, they are likely to consider it priceless.  Having said that, I could make someone pay tuition and feed them nothing but lies and they would think it is priceless truth.  Oh wait, that’s what most modern colleges are doing.

If I speak the truth to a stranger, he thinks I am proudly wielding wisdom.  He considers me to full of myself.  If I put that same information in a fortune cookie, the receiver thinks he has found gold.

I’ll say it again and let the reader stew over this.  Pride and education are firmly bound together.

Consider:
The message of Jesus is free to any man who will listen.  He has come to us from heaven and given us heavenly words.  What he gave us is beyond any possible price.  But the world treats his words as if they are useless.  Or at best, they are useful for children only.

If he had charged admission, I suspect the world would treat his words greatly different.  And if the church would charge admission on Sunday mornings, I would guess the pews would be packed full.

You think that’s too much to say?   I don’t.

The Religion of Science

The temple you have built will be torn down.  It has been built by “unholy pride of man”.  Without and within, it is full of the things that glitter among men.

The Holy One finds no praise within it.  He is, indeed, held in contempt among the supposed holy things of man.  Yet He is Glory!

Science is the name of the temple you have erected to your own “glory”.  But you have built it of the very dirt the Holy One provides for you.

You define “what is”, according to your limited understanding.  And by your defining, you consider yourselves Great.  How is that any glory to you?

A dog defines his ability, according to the things he is created to accomplish.  How is the unholy “glory” of man any different?

No.  Your temple will not ascend into Eternity.  It will become ash; pulverized beyond substance.  It will not waft on the breeze of Eternity.  Not one speck will land upon any item of God’s New Creation.  It will be sucked down to the very bowels of hell.  There it will remain forever!

The memory of man’s “glory” will not remain; memories of this unholy place you have transformed to your own likeness.  In the blink of an eye, every one of God’s elect will forget your false glory.

The Glory of the Holy One, Jesus the Christ of God, will fill their eyes, desire and eternal soul.  They will worship Him with the greatest of intensity; with an eternal joyfilled, righteous, holy, and willing heart.

The things you are doing will undo your desire to remain among them.  You and all the things you presently adore will come to NOTHING.

Let the wise among men heed these things.  Let the lesser among the worshipers of science consider the things that are pure and Holy.  Let the wicked hearts, who now yearn for trinkets, consider the eternal things of the Holy Living God.  And may this be done quickly.

His Christ will come soon, to claim all that belongs to Him.  And if He waits a while longer to send His Holy Son, your own death will propel you to His presence; even as you lay helpless in the grave, awaiting your judgment.

By His “Coming”, or by your death, your time is well too short to be reliable.  Do not mistake the mercy of God to allow this place of testing to remain another day, as if it is a weakness upon which you can continue in unholy abuse of creation and pride.  Wise of men consider these things with urgent sobriety.  The foolish go to the temple of man, day and night, to worship the work of man’s hands.

By His Grace, these things testify strongly against man.  By His Grace, these words testify of the Glory that is the Gospel of Christ Jesus.  By His Grace alone, shall any man ascend to the Holy Temple of God.

Amen.

May the Holy Will of the Living God be done forever!

The Proud and the Weak

“God and religion are useless to me.  They are for the children and the weak.  I’ll take real life.  Keep your “holy” garbage out of my sight.  All it does is weaken my resolve to survive.”

And another:

“I can’t move!  I’m afraid to think for myself.  I’m afraid to accept the promises of God, for I fear it will ask too much of me.  Keep your “holy” words far from me.  I would rather hide here in my darkened cave, than turn and face what you call “light”.

Isn’t that what you say?  Perhaps you don’t say it in words.  But your actions are clear.

Weak, you say?  My friend, you have no idea what strength it takes to believe.  And what good would it do to try to explain to you how much strength it takes to submit to the Living God’s Christ?  You know nothing about overcoming sin.  And you are not able to conceive what difficulties await every moment, as His people walk “The Way”.

No, my friend, it is you who are weak.  Look how you suffer under the burden of expectations.  Look what the world demands of you.  Look at your inability to perform with consistency.  Look at your own fear level.  You’re the one who’s weak.  The very fact that you stand with bravado, tells me how weak you are.

I’ve lived among the drunks.  I’ve lived among the proud.  I’ve come to recognize the signs of fear.  The cocky one who brags about all the things he can do.  That’s the one whose the weakest.  The strength of his life is found in his violent hands and quivering lips.  You call that strength?

And you who cower in a corner.  You who keep the windows of your life closed.  How utterly helpless you are to go outside anymore.  You turn away from Christ.  You turn to religion, in its various forms.  You keep to yourself, the things that are true and eternal.  If indeed, you have them at all.

You who cower look at the victorious and moan.  You think you can’t achieve anything.  How utterly weak are you?  But at least you recognize your weakness.  You are not like the proud, you don’t brag about your weakness.  But you have it just the same.

The proud.  The fearful.  Both miss the central point of the Gospel.  “I will be your strength!  It is I who will lift you up.  Humble yourself before Me, and in due time, I will lift you up.  The weak will become strong.  The proud will be humbled.  The Way of the Lord shall remain, narrow and Holy.”

The proud looks to weakness.  The fearful looks to strength.  Both fear to move, lest what they love is crushed.  The proud fears to lose his strength.  The fearful fears to lose his excuses.  But The Way of the Lord moves through the sea of men, unscathed, unhindered, eternally set, and arriving at perfection.

Put down your pride.  Put down your fear.  Stop groveling in your putrid mess.  Look up and believe!

Promises

A man says, “I am a man of my word”.  This one means well, but I would rather be a man of God’s Word.

If I boast that I am able to keep my promises, I trust in myself and I will fail.  Sickness and misfortune, forgetfulness and sloth, crouch behind the corner and wait for a weak moment.   The one who boast in his own ability does not understand his own frail nature.

But if I trust the one who is the Living Word I will never fail.

The man who boast in His righteousness, boasts from the perspective of this world.  The man who trust in God, boasts that God alone is good.

I am a man of God’s Word.  You will find fault with me.  But you will not find fault in the one I trust.  I do not ask you to trust me.  Even I do not trust me!
