Consider:

What would you do, and how would you act, if the Lord made it plain to you that you were the last Christian left on earth?  If nothing would change, then fine.  But if you search yourself with serious sobriety and find anything lacking, why not focus and fix it?

We do as He allows.  And no one, NO ONE, does anything truly good without His power and will.  Likewise, no one can do anything to you but that God allows it to be done!  STAND!

Self Applied Wedgies Warranted.

Give yourself a wedgie if you have to, but wake up!  The times are quickly approaching when God’s people will be asked to sacrifice in a major way.  How can we listen to the news, look at the actions of the wicked, and the state of the Church, and not see something going on?

The time for sleep is over.  Hold your eyes upward and your hands to the work He gave you to do.  Come on now…….. “Every man to his post!”  Oh… you don’t have a post?  I’d advise you to go get your personal running orders.  Don’t get caught sleeping.

Legacy

We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses as we walk in “The Way” of God.  Often we will feel as though we are the only one who is suffering.  But we know that’s not true.  It seems like it sometimes.  The call to service before the Most High God has not changed.  And in every age that has come and gone, holy men encouraged each other to stand strong in the face of attack by the world we live in:

“. . .There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released so that they might gain an even better resurrection. 36 Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. 37 They were put to death by stoning;  they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated— 38 the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground.” (Hebrews 11)

We face all kinds of trials as we serve the Lord of Glory.  And this is as it should be.  It is the working out of our faith that produces the fruit God is looking for.   Encourage one another to leap into the war.  We war against sin in our own lives.  We war against becoming cowards.  We war in our prayer time as we struggle with the call of “things undone”.  We war against the love of money, fame, being alone, and more than I’d care to mention.

Though we encounter all kinds of trials which appear to stand against us, we must remember that we don’t serve God alone.  Many have gone before us to lead the way through.  And even now, there are millions actively leading the way through.  I will not bow to the pressures to forsake the trials I am asked to endure.  By the Grace of God in Christ Jesus I will stand.  He will bring me into a place of testimony for His name’s sake, and for the sake of the faith of my brothers and sisters.

How is this too much to ask?  Shall we abandon our eternal family as they encounter their own trials and remain steady?  His Spirit calls for His children to stand strong.  So, raised eyebrows here, stand strong!   My brothers and sisters, leave a legacy of faith!  Let it be spoken of you, that you endured for Him.  Encourage those yet not born.  Leave a legacy of faithfulness and contentment in the face of your trials.

Egypt, Snow, Sea, Headlights.

Screaming down a two lane road in a snow storm.  The road’s edge has melted into white.  Powder rushes like water across the road, causing it to look like the road is moving left.  Headlights blind through tiny wisps of visibility.  And I’ve got my hands on 60,000 pounds of steel and rubber.

The Lord brought me through without hardly a mentionable experience.  Thus it is for me, by His Grace.  But I thought of the Israelites being chased by the Egyptians.  Certain death was closing in.  The sand drifting all over their bodies and getting into their belongings.  Now the Sea blocks them in.  LOST!  “It would have been better if we had died in Egypt.”

But if they hadn’t left that place, they would never walked on the bottom of the sea.  If I had taken the freeway, I would never have experienced His powerful hand guiding me through the snow.

Walking as Dead

You have strayed from what is right and run after all kinds of evil.  Your body is wrapped in addictions.  Your mouth is full of cursings and wicked words.  And you think there is no longer any hope for you.

Yet there is hope.  There is no need for you to wander in this darkness any longer.  I testify that I too was encased in all these things.  I too was a fool.  I did things, said things, thought things, and chased after every manner of evil.  But it was Jesus who set me free to stand before The Father with confidence and a clean mind and heart.

People speak of forgiveness as though it were a “pie in the sky” dream.  I tell you it is real!  When you come to Jesus there is a true transformation which takes place.  Though it’s not an over night experience, you will find evil slip away from you. If you will remain with Him, He will transform you into His desire.  No longer will you chase after evil.  You will begin to desire what is good.  He will teach you what you should do.

There is absolutely no lie in what I’ve just said.  I testify as one who has been set free of evil.  Though I am still a man and stumble around a bit, it is His leading that will bring me into God’s presence clean and justified.  God is the Judge.  God is the One who forgives through Jesus.  It is God who will lift you up from death to life.  All men and women walk as dead in this world until they are set into The Life by Jesus.

By His Grace.

Who is This Jesus?

Who is this Jesus?  He was made heir of all things by the Living God.  He was given the status of Son by the Living God.  He was taught by the Father how to create all that is created.  He has loved righteousness and hated wickedness.  And so He was elevated to the status of God Most High.  He is the radiance of God’s Glory; the exact representation of God.  He is the spoken and speaking Word of God.  Who is this Jesus?

The world thinks of Jesus as a little baby.  And in that form He is conveniently small and insignificant.  Yet that is not the Jesus of God’s understanding.  He is a prophet to some, yet that is not the Jesus of God’s understanding.  He has been with the Father from the beginning and will remain with Him forever.  He is the redeemer of men; causing them to become holy as the Father is Holy.  Yet the world sees Him as a nuisance.

We will see Him as the One who endured GREAT pain for the sake of His Father’s will.  When we see Him, He will be dressed in absolute Glory.  For now many see Jesus as an irritation.  On the Day of God’s Wrath, we will see Him as He is.  No longer will men doubt.  No longer will they rail against righteousness.  No longer will they kill, maim, chide, and relegate God’s people to obscurity.

The wicked will perish like a ball of cotton in an intense flame.  They will scream with terror at the prospect of their fate.  And they will hate Jesus with an eternal hatred.  I do not wish anyone to endure what is coming for the wicked.  Please consider what He is.  Consider with a great trembling.  You are about to meet your maker.  His name is Jesus.

By His Grace.
