The Ultimate Object Lesson

Are you ready to get your brain full this morning?

I keep saying that we should “think eternity”.  And I promise that the more you do, the more you will be ready on the spur of the moment to speak about Christ your Lord.  More and more, you will replace the fear of evangelism with an excited desire.

Here’s the ticket for the ride of your life:

Absolutely everything in creation speaks to us of the Son of God.  From a pencil and eraser to the depths of the sea.  Every conversation people have.  Every single thought that goes through our minds.  Everything we love and everything we hate.  Everything we use and everything we are willing to destroy.

If you make it a habit to think about it, the association between the common and the Holy will come to you in a split-second.  The real plus here is that it takes almost no discipline at all.  I guarantee you the Lord is willing to help us understand.

Spiritual Kindergarten

With all the things I have said on here regarding God and his salvation in Jesus, there’s a tanker load of things I haven’t said.  I made sure to close my lips where I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, pride would stop the receiving.

How I wish the elementary things of Christ where well-received by those who read these writings.  Then I could venture out to speak of the things I have kept hidden.

Perhaps someday before I leave. . .

Evidence of Belonging

How should we spend our days?  Doesn’t it depend on whose you intend to be.

Let’s make a choice with finality.  Either Christianity is a mere religion, or it is the power of God to transform.  Either the words of God are benign “good sayings”, or they are filled with Holy Fire.  The life we lead proves the choice we’ve made.

Heaven rages with eternal love toward Man.  Blazing with holy duty, all of Heaven is busy in the preparing of the sons of God.  Construction of the age to come includes the preparation of those who will inhabit it.

Those who join in this holy frenzy will enter beyond this place with little change in their character.  Having a allowed God to create within them, they are fast becoming a welcome addition to the throne of Christ Jesus.

Such people have no room for trivia.  Such people do not hide in the shadows.  Though they are compelled to use the things of this world, they do not rise every morning to satiate the desires of the flesh.  Like sunflowers, they seek the will of the Living God to grow within them; always tracing the Son across every day’s sky.

On rising they call out to His Holy name in Jesus.  Without thought, the eyes of their soul look to him in every decision they make.  They will be welcome, for the work of God within them provides what is required.

Give thought to this.  Eternity is now.  Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for He who is Righteous, for they shall be filled!

Wake-up Call

Jesus didn’t wake up my soul to be popular.  He woke me up to stand against the things I have done.  He woke me up to stand for the things that are his.  He woke me up to stand against the things that were about to destroy me forever.  He woke me up to, in some fashion, be crucified with him.

There is joy in the Holy Brotherhood of Christ.  Faithfully, he is teaching me to live in that Joy, that joy that surpasses all understanding of mere men.

Come, drink of the cup that is true life.  Approach the throne of the Living God in the name of Jesus.

Remain there.

To the Wilderness With You

I spent the first 43 years of my life burning up my days with my own understanding.  Even when I read the gospel, prayed, and try to live it, there was still my own understanding guiding my thoughts.  I had to come to a terrible end before I could relinquish my control.

Did it need to take that long?  The answer is simple: he’s not finished with yet.  Who have I become?  Who will he yet cause me to be?

In light of this I have advice for every man and woman.  Strike out.  Pack what you think is necessary and follow after Jesus.  My journey began somewhere.  So must yours.

Onward.

The religion of a man comes about because he thinks he has found the extent of God’s requirement for him.  How far the man goes in Christ depends on how much he desires to learn.  Doesn’t our obedience to the Living God’s Holy Son depend on our will?

God has in mind for us great things.  He has in mind for us beautiful, holy, righteous, eternal, and glorifying things.  But far too often man settles for some small routine.  He gathers about himself just enough to say, “I have done the Lord’s will.  He is pleased with me”.  Such religions have a veneer of righteousness.  But consider the following.

God is not my co-pilot.  He is the one at the helm.  He owns the ship.  He owns the Sea and the Wind.  He owns the place we are going to.  He owns the place we have come from.

The religion of man tends to say, “I have pleased God by coming through that door.  I will then go back through that door and return to the place I am”.  How can that be reasonable?  It is so easy to do the things we have learned to do.  Still, the Lord beckons us unto death; death to self and Life to Him.
