Christmas?

OK, it caught my interest. I went looking at the news this morning. I looked at world news. I looked at national news. I looked at local news in various places. I looked at politics. I looked at storms. Yeah I know, I was pretty bored.

But I come away with something very interesting. I found out how to be incredibly offensive. I’ll try to describe it in very few words.

The petty nature of human interest is astounding. And it seems to be a year long tragedy. I always expect, stupidly I will admit, that the Christmas season will heighten the people’s regard for the living God and his holy son. But it really doesn’t. Instead of pondering the beautiful things of heaven and eternity, the people focus on Christmas lights, presents, good works, good stories, and so on. Their interest is solely human.

I’m interested in this because I realize that pointing this out is offensive to almost everybody. Really? How offended would you be if you intended to give good things to someone in need and they just turned away from you as if you didn’t exist? That’s what humanity does to God. And I see them do it all year long. Worse than that, they ignore the giver and praise their personal holiday about him!!!!!!!!!!

End of post.

A billion thoughts about this are swarming around my head. But apparently the majority of people don’t have to worry about being swarmed by thoughts of holiness. If they did, surely the news media would pick it up.

Social Facade

How I wish the entirety of America would respond to the following question:

Why do you celebrate Christmas if you have no intention of serving the living Holy and Righteous Son?

Cutting the Difference

Christmas is coming.  Many will now turn to a false religion.  From their daily life of caring nothing for the things of God, they will now act as though the gospel belongs to them.  They will quote a portion of Scripture that says, “Peace on earth and goodwill to men”.

Smiles on peoples faces, music of God will fill the air, and winter will force a certain diminishing of wickedness.  Ungodly behavior is but a seed planted in late fall.  A treasure of the wicked waiting to sprout in spring.

Christmas is a time of year when the word of Jesus gets passed around rather fluidly.  But what about the other 11 months of the year?

Consider these tidbits  from the Bible.

1 Peter 4:
17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And,

“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”

Proverbs:
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
and the one who is wise saves lives.
31 If the righteous receive their due on earth,
how much more the ungodly and the sinner!

Luke 2:
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

2 Timothy:
19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”

Merry Christmas?

Is it ridiculous to say “Merry Christmas” to the rebellious souls of this world?  Someone would answer, “Why would you not put a smile on someone else’s face”?

Isn’t saying Merry Christmas to one who does not have eternal life in Christ, like trying to make a condemned prisoner smile by telling him the world will soon be rid of a murderer?  Do you really expect him to share in your joy?  Are you right to try to give him a hope that does not belong to him?

What does Merry Christmas mean?  Isn’t it that we take joy in the work of Christ within us?  Isn’t it that eternal life IS, because God cannot lie and has sealed his promise with the blood of His Holy and Righteous Son?  And doesn’t the promise from the Holy Spirit give us a quiet joy that is inexpressible to the ears of Man?  Isn’t this what Merry Christmas means?

For those who believe and receive His guidance toward righteousness and purity, indeed Christmas can be merry.  But for those who simply want a smile, a gift, and a good work, Christmas cannot be eternally merry.  It is impossible for such creatures to grasp the meaning of “Merry Christmas”.

I’m not saying we should be cruel.  But I am saying we should think about what tradition tells us to do.  Falsehood can come in a beautiful evening gown, dancing elegantly in a sparkling ballroom.  Do we really desire truth?

How unpopular this message must be for so many.

Christmas, Eternal

Today is the day, established by men, to give one another gifts.  They say it is to honor the Holy One of God.

Will you know the nature of the True Gift of God?  Is your soul strong enough to learn?blind

39 Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”

40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”

41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.”

How does the “giving” of man, to one another, compare?  The Holy One of God offers the gift of Life.  Will you stash it under green boughs? Will you wrap it in flammable paper?  Will you place the names of the dead within the labels?

What man gives rots, even as he prepares it to be received with joy.  But what God, in Christ Jesus, gives is a growing body of life; pure Light of Holy Life.

Will you pray with humility of soul, at the opening of each gift today?  Will you strive to give proper place to the Holy Gift of God?  Eye entrancing beauty adorns the gifts of men.  But the precious Holy Blood of the Son of God adorns the eternal offer.

Mystery to Marvel At.

Oh, Holy Lord, You are full of Truth.

We are of those who receive.

No truth lives in us, but that Your Holy Mercy dresses our hearts.

I came to eat at the table of the Living God.

Did my rising lie to me?  Did I wake to fill my belly?

Or was I wakened, that I might be filled for the purpose of proclaiming?

“Selfishness remains in bed.  But earnest desire wakes the soul.”

Life beckons,

“Come eat of the things that are good.

It is My desire that all should taste truth.

It is sweet to the soul, to breathe the Holy things of My Father.

Wake.  Wake and proclaim.”

How powerful is the sacrifice that has been offered on our behalf.  How unable to proclaim, are the words of man.

Do we truly understand the Glory of God in Jesus His Holy Christ?  How can we comprehend the Majesty necessary to accomplish the Holy Will of God the Father?  Yet He has done it!  He has overcome!

Jesus has carved that impossible Way, in this horrible wilderness.  Though this place is void of understanding, The Holy Christ has overcome!

The season is upon us to remember the baby.  But how can the baby be separated from the magnificent man He became; that God Man, The Christ.

I am filled with things I cannot express.  There is a vision of this Holy One which escapes my ability to comprehend.

I have not seen mysteries this morning.  I have been witness to simple truth: Every man is a liar, but God alone is true.  Every man merely receives.  But God alone can give Life.

Man comes to God with desire in his hands.  Though he gives the Living One praise, there is expectation within him.  Purity escapes us.

Which of us understood?  Who, of man, knew to ask God for that Holy Baby?  Yet God gave, despite our darkness of mind and heart.  Who of us understood?  Who could know to ask God that His Holy Son should be crucified?  Yet obedience was produced, through that awesome strength of Love.

Which of us understands?  Who has known to ask what all this means to us today?  Our bend to receive is so powerful.  All we perceive is need.  Even in our praise, we are held captive to need.  But the Free One has given of His endless resource called Love.

Mystery?  You want mystery?  Why?  When the simple Gospel of Christ Jesus is more than a man can eat in his entire lifetime.

Men look to prophecy.  They strive against the hidden things to unveil the “marvelous”.  How futile are such things?  When it is fully time, God will unleash answers.  But the Holy answer to our plight has already been unveiled!  Christ the King has been born among the enemies of God.  And words have been spoken, “It is Finished”!

Marvel at these things.
