Clear Minded

The decal on the back of an old white van:

Catch and release
I don’t think so.
Nobody released me
When I got caught”.

A cute saying.  But it lacks the fullness of clarity.  A simple question gives it a thoughtful purpose.  “But don’t you wish they had.”

I don’t care what he does in his life.  But whoever purchased the decal for that saying was not thinking with the clarity of the gospel of Christ.  How fragile is the righteousness of man, that he should speak words that are not eternally strong.

Life Worth Living

In my wickedness I am lost.  Even my breathing is labored with the weight of a guilty conscience.  Sighing consumes my days.  And there is never any rest.  Even my joints complain with stiffness because of my evil ways.  I seek release but find none.

But in the days when the Spirit of God thrives among the fibers of my body, I am found and strong.  It can be said that when we are weak, we are pitifully weak.  When we are strong there is no longer any comparison to man.  For the Spirit of God is not weak in any measure.  So the measure of filling we allow becomes a strength that has no end.  My body rests in peace.  My mind thinks clearly.  My speech is slowed and calculated, no longer frantic to explain what I believe.  Sleep is sound and joyful.  And a silent revelry reigns in my soul.

By the Spirit of God we become a union of God and man.  We no longer desire the things of the flesh.  This is why it was written, “Live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.”

Though you already know this, isn’t it wise and good to remind each other of these things?  Iron sharpens iron.  What good is a dull axe?

A Time of Clarity

This picture shows an instance of the Sun’s “lifetime”.  That flare will soon be swallowed back into its place of origin.  Yet, the picture is proof of a moment extraordinary.  It is the same with man.  There are moments of clarity and beauty rarely matched in his lifetime.

How beautiful is the Lord Jesus.  For He gives portions to men.  “Portions of what”, you may ask.  Jesus gives portions of heavenly understanding to men.  Who has seen the Lord?  Who has entered the throne of the Glorious Father of Light?  And who of those have returned to speak of that encounter?  In the lives of men, the Lord quickens the heart and mind to understand His ways.  And I know that there was a place where He did that for me.

I give the Lord Jesus Glory for His gentle kindness, to allow me to see for a time.   I was shown understandings of the nature of man and God the Father.  It was the Lord who bathed me in mercy that I might perceive things of salvation.  Thank you Lord for that moment in my life.  May Your Holy Will be done forever.  And may Your people praise you with exceeding great joy!

Amen.
