Oh Holy Men of God

Oh, holy men of God.  I salute you with an earnest heart.  I would have gone with you as you engage the enemy on that bloody ground in the land of lies.  But I allowed my hands to be tied with sin.  How I cried as I watched you go.  How regal you appear as you marched in the feet fitted with the Gospel of peace.  But it is given to me to carry firewood and water for your families.  How earnestly I desired to go.  But I find myself fit for the task He has given me.  And in my amazement, He has granted me this task!  Peace to you who fight the good fight.  Glory to He who calls us both.

My brothers go in assurance.  Your families are well cared for.  I will carry the wood and water till my hands bleed.  I will break my back for you.  You go to accomplish that which I can only dream.  Though imagination fill my heart with grand visions which belong to you, still I am but dreaming.  He has chosen you to fight with a strength I will never have.  He has gifted you with a righteous life behind you.  He has raised you up with a holy history that man cannot assail.

And now, I pause to wipe my eyes.  Look at how beautiful He has made you!  Look at the sparkling among your ranks from the Holy Sword of the Word of God.  How beautifully it is wielded in the hands of a righteous man!

Go in peace my brothers. Your back is where I belong.  Through tears of regret I watch you go.  But I will now turn, with all my might, to care for those you are sent to defend.  In the end, we serve the same Glorious Lord!  And we will celebrate with great joy on the marvelous day of God!  Bless you, that He has considered me worthy to serve those who rise so tall.  Glory to Jesus!

I wipe my tears and pray for iron hands, a backbone fitted with steel, and a heart filled to over flowing with purpose, for the Holy One they serve.

As I turn I consider you who laugh at this display of love.  Subduing wrath, I will speak to you.

There is a place where the wickedness of man will be decimated!  You laugh now, but you will ache with a deep and eternal sadness.  You revel in rebellion now.  But you will desire to run for shelter from the face of the Most High God.  You celebrate every wicked thing, and even call God a liar.  But it is you who will shudder as your lies are brought out for all to see.

Those men of God I salute tell you the truth.  As a man I beg you to listen to them.  For now you hate those gallant men.  But there is a day coming when you will desire even the strength to look at them.  Listen to the Gospel they speak.  They speak the truth from lips blessed by the Most High God!  They speak what is true and it will not be taken from them.  Please, please, listen to them!

1 John 3:14

We know that we have passed from the death of this world into the eternal life of God’s Kingdom when we find ourselves joyfully obeying His commands.  Those who do not obey have not completely passed from death to life.  We know that no disobedience will remain when we are brought into the presence of God for eternity.  And we also know that when we obey God’s commands we become full of a desire to love.  As we mature this desire becomes a full bloom within us.  And we have confidence before the Most High God through Jesus.

We begin in a tiny shred of belief.  God grants us mercy to grow, according to His wisdom and mercy.  All along the way we encounter items of concern within us that need attention.  And to these encounters I say, strengthen your belief.  Retain the confidence you had at first and do not begin to doubt.

To those who have begun to rest on that shred of faith I say this:

If you do not have this love of God growing within you, you will regret horribly that you did not consider it important to fan it into flame.  I do not say this to frighten you for no reason.  The intent is to wake you from a slumber the music of sin and rebellion in the world has caused in your soul.  On the day you see Him face to face, it will be far too late to cultivate that obedience and love.  What you do here is what will be presented before Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

I urge you to consider these things.  Today is all you have.  Set your face in the direction of obedience and love.  Do not look back as sin and rebellion, so as to go back to it.  This is the day your heart is being tested.  I urge you to do all you can to pass that test.  The gift of God in Jesus is free.  But it is freedom to set you free of sin and disobedience, and rebellion.  It is not freedom to do as you please.   It is freedom to do as God pleases.  Do not allow yourself to be fooled.  He who sows to the flesh will reap destruction.  He who sows to the Holy Spirit of God will reap eternal life.

May God grant you understand, wisdom, mercy, and forgiveness as you contemplate these things.

Spreading the Gospel

The “Jesus freaks” of the 70’s have gone. Other “movements” for the Lord have come and gone.  There are some who continue to proclaim the Gospel with a rather loud voice.  And I am not speaking of pastors, evangelists, or TV preachers.  There are some who simply can’t keep their lips closed.  And these are blessed to continue.  They are not enduring a fad.  They are completely consumed with the message of God.

Now the question is, is their state of affairs a direct gift from God?  Or is it a purposeful and singular dedication to what is right, good, and eternal?  In the end, does it matter?  Isn’t it true that, in the end, all that matters is that the Gospel was preached to every corner of the world?

When

When will we, as individuals, be ready to accept the will of the Lord in Jesus?

When will we, as individuals, believe to the point of walking in faith?

When will we, as individuals, step into the shoes of the Gospel of Peace?

When will we, as individuals, speak the truth in love?

When will we, as individuals, learn to be ready to serve Him in season and out of season?

When?

What are we, as individuals, waiting for?

What more can be said to us that He has not already said?

Fear nothing.  Believe the words the Holy Lord of Life has spoken, both promise of good and promise of bad.

Stretch out your hand and take what is being offered this very minute.

The very second your eyes reach this WORD, eternity is upon you.

Eternity is not the past, though it was already there.

Eternity is not the future, though the Lord has already known and prepared what is to come.

Eternity is “the now”.

Are we, as individuals, waiting for heaven?

What will we, as individuals, say when we arrive before Him?

Shall we confess that we were waiting?  Might He answer with a question?

“Waiting for what?”

Wicked men compromise.  Jesus, the Righteous Man, never compromised.  Would we expect the Lord of Life to be anything different?  And should He expect less from His holy people?

Eternity will move away from the judgment filled with the ones who love God without a shred of compromise.  It is written, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever . . .”   Do not be fooled into a lazy sleep.  Compromise with sin is to hand yourself over to punishment and death.

Though there must be a place of transformation for those who love God, do not rely on that place to become what God has created you to be.  Excel in your way before the Most High God.   Excel according to the grace, strength, wisdom, and hope the Lord is willing to give you.  To rely on the Grace of God alone in your salvation is to miss the abundant work the Lord is willing to give.  Let us not approach the throne of God, on the day of His judging, empty-handed of the fullness He is willing to allow in our “days of flesh”.  To compromise between flesh and Spirit is to misunderstand the “Calling” of God to all His people.
