The Bride

The new bride came home to her new home!

She said a quick “Thank you and I love you” to her new husband. Then she went about adoring the walls and furniture, ceiling and floor.

Not a problem you say. That was the last time she paid serious attention to her husband.

She would cook for him is if it were a duty. And all the other chores of a wife she carried out without fail. She would let her lips brush his four head, as if that were a substantial sign of love.

Her heart was so detached from him he might well have not been her husband at all.

But do not judge her for infidelity. There was no other man in her life. The problem is, there was no man in her life at all. Still he was faithful to keep her as his wife.

Does this draw a picture of your relationship with your husband Christ Jesus?

The Fancy Shell Game

I’d like to say I am baffled.  But I know that’s not true.  I understand perfectly well.

What the modern Church means when they say, “I have given my life to Jesus”, is that they have given some of it but retain rights over the majority of their desires.

They like being a social chameleon.  They think they can be a Christian and while they fit right into everything the world says is important.  That’s no different than being a filthy drunk and loving the song “Believe” by Brooks & Dunn.  Liking a popular song does not make you a Christian.

I am not confused.  I am not baffled by their shell game.  And I promise you, neither is the Lord Jesus.

Mark 8:38
(reluctant to do something through fear of embarrassment or humiliation)

Hidden? No.

They hide behind their eyes;
Concealing their perceptions.

They hide behind their ears;
Morphing what they heard.

They hide behind their arms;
A fake embrace of welcome.

They hide behind their handshake;
Never intending to fulfill their agreement.

They hide behind their lips;
Speaking golden liquid words.

In this they hide from God’s people.  Yet truth reveals enough.

But they cannot hide from God.

If they hide from his people, what will they do when they are face to face with he who has seen all?
