Rather, Be Trivial

We are taught to give up.

We are taught to be trivial.

“Do these things and you will be satisfied.

Abstain from the things of God;

See how complicated and unknown are God’s things to man.

See how many versions of God scream to be first.

See how it is right to give up the search.

Be satisfied with what you have, and do not seek more than is reasonable.”

Rather be trivial.

Rather live with the love that you have.

Rather be diligent with the things you already know how to do.

Perceive the beautiful things of living life;

among your fellow men,

Among the sustaining of this world.

Among the limitations of chaos,

Among the decaying pattern of this place,

And among the innate desire to laugh.

Truth says clearly:

“You KNOW this is not the sum of things.

You KNOW there is More to be had.

You KNOW the ways of man are not the fullness of life.

You KNOW you will one day cease here.

You KNOW you will be inspected with absolute scrutiny.

Do you KNOW the name of the One who will inspect?

It’s Going Terminal

The doctor said America’s sickness may be terminal.

He recommended daily ethics exercises, the majority of which should be done from the kneeling position.

He did not recommend heavy lifting; the lifting of one’s hands is best, given the ailment.

He also suggested that America might want to join a therapeutic group; one that can lay out a clear path to recovery.

I asked him if he had any particular group he would suggest more than all the others.

“Yes.” He said. “I have found that the only group capable of rectifying this kind of emergency, was the group they call ‘The Way'”.

And he recommended strongly that America should distance itself from those who simply give up and die.

I asked him what caused this. He told me it was a drug addiction.

America has been drinking the poison of liars for far too long.

What we really need is a prescription of truth elixir. But he was afraid to prescribe it because the patient is so weak.

Constraints Enslave

From our freedom in Christ we are able to speak more freely of the Gospel than those who are constrained by rules of religion.  This was so for the Lord, as he lashed out at the money changers in the temple.  It is so for all who seek the freedom Jesus offers.

Setting apart from the established folly of man means we will not be allowed certain fellowship.  Our hearts will not allow such fellowship without encountering loss, for the Spirit will convict as truth demands.  But the freedom we are given in this purposeful isolation is more precious than all possible friendships of man.  We are promised friendship with the Lord of Peace.  And a knowledge of eternity quickly follows behind.

Let men desire what they will.  They develop their religions by the senses and reason of man.  But the Lord sets us free, by degree, from the necessity of obedience to their regulation.  As the Lord is free from the constrains of fleshly rule, so we are being called to come apart.  Therefore, let His wisdom come home.  Let His power in Grace find a place to eat and sleep in our house.  As often as we entertain the Christ as Lord, we learn to be free.  Likewise, as we succumb to the rule of man, we learn to become enslaved.

If this post is not clear, I apologize.  It is not meant to be a hidden line of thought.  Ask and I will strive to explain.  What I have said here is useful to all who would be free from the constraints of this world.
