In the Blink of an Eye

Cut to the Heart

Ah, the drunken bravado;

Drunk, and pride darkened mind.

Filled with strength,

And overflowing!

Either bolstered by

Drink, or his pride.

He spits in the face of fear.

And all his friends greatly cheer.

“I am not afraid of death or hell.

For all my friends are there!”
—————
Will you come apart,

And reason with me?

Will you put down

Your weapons of pride?

What you have spoken

Need not be recalled.

But let us speak of

The nature of dying.

What is sin?

Have you thought of the din,

That reaches the ears of God?

You perceive yourself slighted,

Freedom taken away.

I propose that,

That’s really quite odd.

Were you there in the place,

Where his loving embrace

Was so full of Life,

Tender and sweet?

Do you know what it’s like

When your best of intent

Is so callously

Thrown at your feet?

Have you purposed great good,

Then perceived that what should

Be received with great joy,

Is rejected?

Your love sent them best,

With great hopes of sweet rest.

Still, they spit in your face,

Unmolested!

“Bravado, bravado,

Bravado!”  They yell.

As if there is something to gain.

But dear friend, when you die,

When death closes your eyes,

In death you forever remain.

The one who is chiefly injured,

Is not the freedom of man.

My friend.

The one who is cut to the heart,

Is the glorious Son of Man.

The Appetite of Hell

I desire to restrain the mouth of Hell.  He has raised up, within me, and my will, yearns to agree with Him.

I am not the One who gave His Holy Life for such a restraint.

It is said that Jesus came to save the sum of those who would believe.  But He also came to restrict the appetite of Hell for the taste of worthless souls.

Why would you willingly allow yourself to become a tidbit on the banquet table of destruction?  When the “Way” out is so plainly offered?

Why Lose?

If you think God is a series of do’s and don’ts, you don’t know him.  If you think obeying the Ten Commandments will make you a friend of God, you don’t know the gospel.  If you believe all the social hype about religion, you are blinded by a lie.

Rather than explain those three statements, I’ll just ask you to read the New Testament.  If you’re still confused, read it again.  And if you still don’t get it, read it one more time.

The point is confusion isn’t necessary.  Keep reading it until you understand.  Because if you don’t understand, you’ll die.

The Chasm of Difference

John the Baptist (poverty-stricken, feared and faithful) :

“Repent from your sinful ways or die!  Seek God’s kingdom and live.”

Silk tongued preachers  (wealthy in the things of this world, beloved and accepted, and full of abomination):

“Jesus loves you.  Do as you will.  He will save you in the end.”

Notice any difference?  Take note of the kind of people they are, who pay attention to the message of each.

The kingdom of God is real, so is hell.  What God’s people say to the world matters.

Poetic Justice

The Morning News tells me about you;

The things you did last night.

You shot a gun.

And now you’ve won

Fame’s blazing white bright light.

You’re quick on your feet.

Eyes, sharp as a knife.

Fingers that blur with deft speed.

But that’s all there’s to ya;

A vibrant young body.

A brainless intent t’ward pride.

The flash of your “best” is gone in a moment.

And now on t’ward hell you will ride.

But wasn’t that your destination,

Before all this began?

Your life’s no more than vomit;

Just reeking up the land!

A baby’s dead,

You cursed spry man!

There!  Rest your frame tonight.

You have murdered your peer.

And you thought you were a man.
