Pursuit of Desire

A man chases after the things he thinks are good.  If he is cold his entire mind, body and heart desire warm clothing.  If he is parched and overheated he will desire water, shade and cool.

The desire of man is a beautiful and useful tool.  And desire is provoked by perception.

Who perceives his own death?  Who perceives his heart is cold before the living God?   Who perceives that he is dying of thirst?  Such a man will desire the water of life God offers.

Warm clothing of eternity and living water for his parched soul.  If he does not desire these things but finds himself lacking, what wisdom can be said he owns?

Who perceives that he is parched and about to die for over exposure to the things of hell?  Such a man will greatly desire to live in the shadow of the Most High.

Men pursue what they desire.  What they desire defines what they pursue.

Young men pursue lust.  Old men live in their habits of lust! Who is wise among men to pursue eternal life with desire born of God?  Such a man will live!

Love of self

Man does not have to love God.  You’re more than welcome to consume the things of this world that he has created for your benefit.  And no one can force you to thank him.

You’re more than welcome to live your entire life without thinking about him and pondering eternity.  You can choose to live in the deepest of wicked behavior, or the greatest of social graces.  You are not forced to consider your life before his Holy eyes.

You don’t even have to think about your own death and what will happen after.  There is an eternity.  But you don’t have to ponder that.  It will come and take you when the time is right.

But if you hate him now, what will you do after this life?  Have you scoped out heaven and found yourself a place to live where God is not?  Perhaps you plan to purchase a piece of land on the edge of heaven, far away from his throne.  Have you thought that there may not be such a place?

For now you can ignore him.  You can thrive just fine with what he supplies, for he sends rain upon the just and the unjust.  But what will you do when the entirety of heaven and eternity contains the vibrant, glorious and radiant beauty of God?

Everyone you will meet will be singing beautiful songs about the God they love.  But you would hate them.  The song of selfishness you sing now is the song you want to hear.  But no one there will understand your words.  And the melody would be like a squeaking hinge or fingernails on a blackboard.

It’s okay, don’t worry.  God has reserved a place for those who hate him.  But the provision is made up of things you now despise.  No delicate banquet for you to attend.  No fine clothing to attract attention.  No loving family to support you in your folly.  No beautiful parties to attend.  No entertainment to distract you from your hours. And no possible hope of release.

You don’t have to love God now.  But that won’t change when you die.  If you don’t love him now you won’t love him then.

You can fill up your life with selfishness.  Its ok.  He has prepared a place for such as you.

Are We Finished?

All of this place will disappear.   Nothing we have known will remain.  All of this creation will be blown away like a puff of smoke in a hurricane.

All the vain glories of this place, gone forever.  The names of the wicked, forgoten.  The places they have held by violence, removed.  The strength of men and the enticing beauty of women, wiped away forever.

Greed and malice, vanity and pomp, the glories of victory and the tears of defeat, financial gain and poverty, the difference between health and sickness, and all other things men now know, will never appear again.

The wailing of a perfect loss will take their place.  Unventable seething anger will rise up from some.  Blame will find no finger to point.  Fists of violence will find nothing on which to pound.

Loss is near.  Starless night is coming.  No moon to rise.  No dawn to break.  No friendly pets.  Not even the hope of death will remain.  Hell will open its mouth and receive all who have despised the Lord’s love.

For now they go about life as if these things were not true.  Ignorance is closer than a brother.  The lure of pleasure consumes them.  All for the sake of joy that never comes.

I consider my testimony in word and in deed.  Have I truly done all I can?  With tireless mind, I search with vigor.  The Lord has often heard the despair of my heart for the sake of the Lost.

So such things as this are written.  The laws of men obeyed.  The righteousness of Christ requested and given.  The wisdom of God hungered for in longing.

Have we done enough, my brothers and sisters in Christ?  Have we truly believed the extreme loss to come?  Have we crained our necks to listen for the promised wailing?  Truly, have we done all we can?

We Love?

The Love of God radiates out.
He does not need anything.

All creation, in heaven and earth, receives.   We who have nothing to offer back. Even what we do is expected service.

Shall we return love?  It is already diluted, for He gave freely from His generous heart.  But we return only that which is left over.

God sustains all.  Even the grave’s foundation rests on a place He built and knows.  Hell is sustained by His Holy consuming Flame.  All life belongs to Him.  What belongs to man?

Sin? Does rebellion belong to man?  Isn’t rebellion simply a physical admition that love does not belong to us?  What belongs to man?

Does God need our praise to be God?  Does He die if we are not thankful?   But we are born needy.  The first breath is of air He sustains.  The last breath releases to go to another place He sustains.  Is God ever lessened by man?

But our thankfulness makes Him more.  His Holy Kingdom expands as another returns in faith.  Love from man may be of duress, but something is made better by He who is everything.

Mr. “No-Name” (Who’s that?)

Imagine living your life without any name.  It might be impossible to us to imagine that.  For we are named from our birth.  And even at our death, out name is placed on our grave.

But unless you receive the Mercy of God in Christ Jesus His Holy Son, your name will be utterly blotted out of eternity.  You will not be mentioned or thought of ever again.  You will cease to be of any importance at all.

For now a man might be important by causing trouble.  If he is incapable of any righteous behavior, at least he can be known for wickedness.  How many wicked men have bragged that others will remember them by their violent behavior?  But that “name” will be taken away.  Even your opinion will not be honored with thought at all.

This is the promise of God toward the unholy, unrighteous, rebellious, those who love false religion, those who love pleasure of the world more than the Righteousness of God, and those who worship anything other than the Living God.

Perhaps you have not considered this.  It is likely.  For it is impossible to imagine living our entire life without a name.

You may say, “I don’t believe any of what you’ve written here.  You’re simply a self-righteous bigot who hates the freedom of man.”  What is such boasting to me?  If you continue in that way, your name will cease.  You will find your end.  You won’t cease because I have told you these things.  The Holy Lord will establish His eternity.  No wicked thing will be allowed to continue past that point.  A new “age” of righteous men made perfect will appear.  And all who have despised the Lord will simply vanish.  “You will look for them but they will not be found.”

The Lord has prepared a staggeringly beautiful place for all who love Him.  Do you seriously think you will be of any importance at all when His people enter the place the Lord has prepared for those who love Him?  No.

You will know your own death.  You will cease to be.  What will that be to those who serve the Living God forever?  Why would you point your finger at such as me?  Why would you chose to blame others for the unholy faults you now embrace?

Hells Gates

Listen.  Can you hear it? can you perceive it?

It is the rustling of perfect robes as men take their place for the grand finale.  It is the flutter of Fire as the messengers of God take the place assigned to them 10000 years ago.  It is the preparation for that half hour of silence in all of heaven.

Hell is about to break loose on the sons of men.

Have you prepared with them?  Is the oil in your lamp to the full mark?   Are you one of those of whom it will be said “He waited for the Lord.”?

Hell is about to break loose on the sons of men.
