Two Lions

The forgiveness of Christ is the ultimate power for life.  If a man’s sins are forgiven, his conscience is cleaned.  Where then is regret?
Where then is fear?
Where then is strength to live?
What kind of joy should this one own?
What kind of man should he be able to become?

Are you willing to dissect this truth with me?  Are you willing to be free of regret?
Are you willing to become fearless?
Are you willing to become endlessly strong?
Are you willing to be full of joy?
Are you willing to become a child of the Living God?

It may be that you have said yes to all these.  But if these are not a part of your life, have you asked why?  And if you asked, were you able to endure the answer?

These things are true for the one who is forgiven.  Why then are they not true for you?

I don’t mean to attack you or to judge.  I simply asked the question that everyone in Christ is asking.  “If the forgiveness of Christ is real, then why do I struggle so?”

You believe the things of the gospel.  But the problem is application to you.  At your best moment, and full of generosity, you perceive that forgiveness is available to every man.  But in your personal practice, that application comes and goes.  It gives you strength and leaves.  Why does it leave?  If it leaves, have you pondered why it even comes at all?

If Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, why not you?  Why can’t you have that familiar strength all the time?

The answer, whether we like it or not, is diligence.  When we are strong in Christ, by His forgiveness, it is because we have taken time to assess our situation.  It is because we fail to sit quietly and make assessment, that we falter and lose our strength.  Isn’t this so?

Then it takes a strong man to receive the things of Christ.  It takes one who is dedicated purely to living the truth.  As a man is lazy in the things of Christ, so his faith will lack.  We could call such a soul, a sluggard.  Couldn’t we?

Proverbs 26 addresses this very clearly.
13. A sluggard says, “There’s a lion in the road,
a fierce lion roaming the streets!”

Yes there’s a lion roaming the streets.  And for this the sluggard keeps his door shut.

But hear this truth!  There is also a lion in your own house.

The Lion of Judah roams the streets seeking earnest hearts.  While the lion who devours, lives among your things.  The One is fearsome and free.  The other is domesticated and emaciated.

As you can understand, let me say this:  Get off your couch, open the door, and walk in the streets.  If you have faith, prove it to yourself.  Become diligent.

The domesticated one will not go with you, he will remain emaciated and sleeping on the couch.

But you!  Go out into the street and call for Him.  The Lion of Judah is free and full of fire.  Yet you know you do not fear him.  You fear your own weakness.

You know he can take away your weakness and give you strength.  You know he can decimate your regret.  You know he can make you fearless.  You know he can give you the fullness of life.

Then the choice is yours.  Remain with your pet domesticated and emaciated lion,  or go out in the street and live.

If I say to you, “I live in the street”, I would be a liar.  For I wake in my house just like you.  But he teaches me to walk past the couch and go outside.  As honestly as I can, I tell you, this takes great strength.

But my brothers and sisters, it is so sincerely worth it!  In my past, laziness has destroyed me.  But as I listen to him, I retain diligence.  This truth he teaches me, is the same for all men.

Amazing Thanks!

Let the family stand on a warm July night.
Let them coo and moan at those “special lights”.

Let the young man dress enticingly.
Let him snap his neck to see,
The beautiful girl who passes by;
Yet fades away to nothing.

Let the rich man yearn for gold.
Let the fool demand his drink.
Let the young man chase what cannot be.
I have joy I cannot speak.

For in this life I’ve come to know,
The God who made my very soul.
This wonderful, fearful sack I own;
This knit together bag of bones,
Contains the promise of his throne:
“I will yet His face”!

They pine away for what passes away.
Completely content, this place to stay.
But now I lean into the Wind,
“Lead me home, my Holy Friend”.

Skittish, No More!

The food is prepared.

Properly portioned;

Abundant in flavor and appeal.

_____

A trek is made down the mountain,

To the edge of the woods;

Where the spacious plains abide.

That place where,

Trees of potential wander about;

Without meaningful knowledge.

_____

With stealth before the dawn,

Loving hands deliver the gift.

Then quietly, invisibly,

I slink back to my place

Among the trees that Are.

_____

Watch and wait.

Wait and watch.

Will the fearful ones come to eat?

The breeze of the day

Comes down from the mountain,

Sending the scent their way.

How careful they are,

For they perceive;

This is not a natural food.

But hunger and curiosity win;

Shaky legs bring them near.

_____

“Eat, desired ones!”

This whisper finds no voice.

_____

Taste and see that the Lord is good.

Rise up and come join me.

Together we will Live,

On the mountain of His Hope.

There, we will, with unity, prepare:

Meals of Great delight.

We will, together, come;

To the place of “delivery”.

_____

Unspeakable joy shall be ours.

For the Giver, Himself,

Takes unspeakable joy at providing.

Let us provide then!

_____

Let Him add to His

Number of joyous cooks.

Blown Away Like Dust

Wonderous, Magnificent, Holy and Righteous is God Most High!

He, alone, has set Life in its place.

All of Heaven praises His Holy Name continually.

And those being transformed, on earth, praise His Holy Law.

Together, Heaven and earth sing that song of Praise.

As in unison, the mouths of all God’s creatures return thanks.

They are fed, according to the Holy will of the Most High God.

For God has chosen His Righteous One to stand in the Gap.

No sin, nothing unsure, no lack of faith will ever stand alive on the Holy floor of the Throne Room of the Living God.

Yet, He has raised up His own right hand to intercede.

There is a messenger from the Living God, who will never fail to deliver Life.

His Holy name is Jesus, the Christ of God!

All of Heaven bows at this Holy name.

It is only the putrid and ungodly men of this world who refuse to bow.

But God has allowed their rebellion.

Let them remain:

That they may be a test for those of faith.

Let them remain:

That they may have opportunity to learn.

Let them remain:

That the Glory of Christ, the Holy Son of God, may prosper.

Let them remain:

That the harvest of righteous be fruitfully tested.

Let them remain:

That the abundance of bounty from this “Place of Testing” be equal to the Glory that is God Most High.

Let them remain:

Until the “moment of ending”.

Let them remain:

Until the transformation of those who have loved He who is Love.

Then, then, let them be blown away like dust.

Then, then, the Holy Name of the Living God will be praised with a unified and explosive sound of praise.

Then, then, heaven will vibrate and shake with shout of  joyful noise:

“Salvation belongs to our God and to the Lamb!

Holy is He who has promised!

Great is the Living God!

For He alone speaks Life!

May His Holy Will be done forever and ever!

Glory to Christ Jesus;

The One whose Holy name never ceases,

Whose faithfulness has become the Living Water of Life!”

And the “Amen” will never cease to be heard.

Faith Washing

Wash me with faith Lord Jesus,

Both for now and for that day.

Wash me with faith that all my sins

Should stay where my body lay.

Wash behind and in my ears,

For I’ve heard what people say.

And my tongue, my hands, my feet, and eyes,

Are not innocent in your “Way”.

Deep Enough to Dream

“Deep enough to dream”
by Chris Rice

Lazy summer afternoon
Screened in porch and nothin’ to do
I just kicked off my tennis shoes
Slouchin’ in a plastic chair
Rakin’ my fingers through my hair
I close my eyes and I leave them there
And I yawn, and sigh, and slowly fade away

Deep enough to dream in brilliant colors
I have never seen
Deep enough to join a billion people
For a wedding feast
Deep enough to reach out and touch
The face of the One who made me
And oh, the love I feel, and oh the peace
Do I ever have to wake up

Awakened by a familiar sound
A clumsy fly is buzzin’ around
He bumps the screen and he tumbles down
He gathers about his wits and pride
And tries again for the hundredth time
‘Cause freedom calls from the other side
And I smile and nod
, and slowly drift away

Deep enough to dream in brilliant colors
I have never seen
Deep enough to join a billion people
For a wedding feast
Deep enough to reach out and touch
The face of the One who made me
And oh, the love I feel, and oh the peace
Do I ever have to wake up

‘Cause peace is pouring over my soul
See the lambs and the lions playin’
I join in and I drink the music
Holiness is the air I’m breathin’
My faithful heroes break the bread
And answer all of my questions
Not to mention what the streets are made of
My heart’s held hostage by this love

And these brilliant colors I have never seen
I join a billion people for a wedding feast
And I reach out and touch the face of the One who made me
And oh, the love I feel, and oh the peace
Do I ever have to wake up

Do I ever have to wake up
Do I ever have to wake up
Do I really have to wake up now
