The Search

I am not an accomplished professor of all things.  There are vastly more things I do not know than what I do possess.  I am not a smart man, as men would call one smart.  I am vastly more a fool, than wise and elderly.

The time I have left, to be among the things of this world, is far less than the years I have already seen.  And my time to become what men speak of a “special” is passing quickly.  If it has not passed already.

But I will impart what I have learned.  Perhaps there is benefit to some.

I have examined the world from the perspective of sin, and found it utterly lacking.  In the way of sin, I have walked more vigorously than most.  And so I can testify with surety.  Life is not there.

I have examined other religions from a distance, as I sought release from my pathetic state.  I did not have time, nor inclination to immerse myself in their teachings.  To do so would have required pledging myself.  I did not possess such earnest intent.  Nor would time allow.

But every religion established by man is full of fault and worthless tripe.  None of them held sufficient truth to remedy my plight.  They said “do”, but I could not.  Therefore life is not found among them.

I examined the law of God and found it true.  I speak of the law of God as found in the Holy Bible, not as men say is the law of God.

I found the law of God in the Holy Scriptures to be founded on eternity.  But one does not need read far, to realize the Holy Law of the Living God is more than man can accomplish.

In the law of God I found life.  But by the law I found I was put to death.  At last my struggle is over.  But what should I do, am I to die?  Is that the summation of this struggle?  I still had desire to live.  So though law of God is life, I found myself dead in its reading.

Now I will testify of what I have found.

There is one who has fulfilled the law of God on behalf of all men.  He is willing to enter a man’s sin and drive it out.

Now this is life!  All he asks is that I am willing.  Having searched what is, of course I am willing.

I have proof in my soul that he has come and made drastic change.  I have proof in this testimony that he is true and able to save.  I find that I believe.  So I proudly wear that name.  I find myself doing the things I thought were too hard for a man.

If I had last words, these would be it.  Search for all you will, you will not find anything greater than Christ Jesus.  He is Life!

Believe!

Men do not believe.  They do not believe that God is true.  So they go about their hopeless affairs as if God does not care.

Why?   Why can men not bring themselves to believe that God cares?  Is it that they have not read his promises?  Or is it that they have prejudged the Holy Lord and decided even his writings are of no value.

Men do not believe the words of the Holy Lord of life, because they themselves are the only witness they witness.  And they count the Holy One as if he were like them.

They live their lives in error, far more than correctness.  They are full of fault and double minded in everything they do.  Their lives are a series of catastrophic failures.  All the while they live in a place that renews, even by itself, sustained by the Holy Lord, for the mercy of salvation.

They are wicked to the very core of their existence, and cannot find one righteous pure action within their members.  They wake in the morning having sinned on their bed.  They go through their day without knowledge, and lost in futility.  Evening comes to them and finds them immersed in trivial and worthless things.

Everyday is the same.  Therefore they judge from their own knowledge.

They know they are made of such things, and they suppose there is no better than they.  For along with the futility of their life, comes pride.  Humility is not desired, for certainly their weakness will be known.  Truth is far from them.  And embracing life is better.

So with a small wave of their hand and up raised chin, they dismiss the things of the Holy Lord of life.

They have lost nothing for they had nothing.  They stand to gain nothing for they will not believe.

They look for proof that God is, and that He is righteous.  They set their feet firm saying, “I will not move until I know for sure.”

They spout great things of how the Lord will receive them because they are good people.  They are vicious creatures against the rule of God, while they consider themselves as pure.  All the while the Lord remains a fire of pure Holy Righteousness and merciful Love.

They look for mercy but do not repent of their sins.  They make no effort to learn of, or please the Most High God.  They count him as less than what is flushed down the toilet.  How then shall they be received by He who is Holy and Eternal?

You who do not believe.  You know that there is more than yourself.  Yet you remain like stone in your rebellion.

Remain then and die.  The Lord’s kingdom will move far from this place without you.  You will be left a beggar with your own witness witnessing against you.

The good news of God is all over this world.  The glorious news that God has prepared a way to embrace you, abounds.  Make your choice today.

Again…….

Why did you leave in such a great hurry?

It was not that your work called your name.

For once in the door, to your coffee you scurried.

A sigh left your lips without shame.

Did good conscience allow you to taste the small sips?

Did you listen to conscience at all?

While in haste you retreated from my threatening lips,

Your darkness still covers your pall.

Opportunity came and was wasted again.

You had not the strength to ask.

The hope that releases the severest of pain,

Is forsaken for some trivial task.

“Nain”, the Pleasant Land

You think you are dead.  You look back with horror at the things you have done.  You take stock of the sum of your life, and find no beauty in it.

You are rightly afraid of the sin you have loved so much.  It will indeed consume you, even unto the second death.  But I tell you there is hope.

There is one approaching this land of what men call pleasant.  In your recognition of failure you are the dead and only son of a widow.

The life of men is like a wife whose husband is dead.  They are widows of righteousness; helpless to provide for themselves.  The mercy of God is hidden from them, for they have loved all things that are not God’s.

He has compassion on her, as she cries with unquenchable tears.  Let Him come close.  Let Him touch the coffin of your folly.  He will speek to you, “Child of demise, I say to you, awake.”

You will wake and be revived.  Not by your own strength, but by the will of God to be compassionate.  And you will not wake to return to a life of demise.  You will be purchased for the sake of life eternal.

Does your hollow heart think these words are useless dribble?  Do the tears you cry cloud these words to obscurity?

Read for yourself the compassion of God in Christ Jesus His Holy Son.  You will find the story in Luke chapter 7 verses 11 through 17.

I testify to you as one who was dead.  I tell you these things are true because I now live.

I was once like you; lost in horror at the sum of my life; dead to hope.  I now live in comparatively blazing difference.  All of this because the Lord had mercy on a dead man.

The hope I have is living and active.  It is impossible for God to lie.  I have received his promise and it does not disappoint.

Call out to him with what belief you can render.  Reach deep inside, and continue to call out with what strength you can find.  In due time, according to his excellent wisdom, he will lift you up.  Only dare to believe.

The few

When men reach the end of their days; when their time in this place to testing is done, they will find that everything the Lord’s people have said to them is true.  They will leave this place only to enter the most hideous of circumstances.

I do not say this to laugh at them.  I say this as another means to wake a few.

I know that most men will receive what is hideous, because the Lord Himself has testified so.  He himself has said that the way to destruction is broad and many go in there by.  And he has said the way to eternal life is narrow and few there are who find it.

Will you listen?  Will you let your ears hear these words?  For the sake of your own life will you give a moment of consideration?  Or you will you continue in the broad way to respond as most will?

All things in this world are either a warning of curse or a test for those who will live.  Which camp do you desire to enter eternity belonging to?

Certainly you want to live.  Even the most wicked among us desires life.  Have you asked yourself, “Why then don’t I take it?”  Or have you walked through time oblivious to all these things?

The Lord’s people stand still and testify day and night.  Who will hear and cease scoffing?  Who will eat at the Lord’s people’s table?  Who will remain?  Who will feast with us and find strength to live?

If there are few who understand and enter in, who are they?  If the majority of men do not consider these things and die in hideous shame, who are they?

You are urged to ask.  You are urged to separate yourself from those who die.  We are dead in our sins, even as we live with the majority.  It is by the prevail of holy struggle that we live eternally.

I did not write this to those who will die.  I wrote this to those who will hear, understand, grasp and do.  Is that you?

Will you humble yourself and receive?  Or will you retain your pride and die in hideous shame?  The door of salvation stands wide open to those who will enter in.  But it remains concealed and eternally locked to those who refuse.

Who’s your daddy

In the year 1888, written at Town-end, Grasmere, William Wordsworth wrote a poem entitled  “My heart leaps up when I behold”.

My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
              Or let me die!
The Child is father of the Man;
I could wish my days to be Bound each to each by natural piety.

He speaks of the reverence of a child; the wonder and amazement that comes naturally.  It does not have to be remembered, provoked, or stimulated.  It is not contrived my media.  And such a child needs no help to be awestruck.

Of such is the kingdom of heaven.  For the Spirit of God in the Lord’s people speaks of wondrous things.

Many who call themselves Christians lack this sense of wonder.  And the following is the reason why.

The child is the father to the man.
He remembers the humiliation of ignorance among the people of expectation and intelligence.
The man senses the difficulty within him but cannot explain why.
He has forgotten forgiveness.

He once heard and understood.  He was glad to receive the gift of God.  But the things of this world; the concerns of the flesh, have caused him to put it away.

Neatly stored in the place of future, forgiveness is something to come.  It no longer finds use in the toil of the day.  The work of his hands replaces his play.

All the while he wonders.  “Why do I find no joy?”  Anxiety reaches deep into his heart, and replaces a child’s dearest toy.

With hopeless abandon the child sits alone.  And whispers a low lonesome song.

“Am I now dead that you no longer look to see if I am sad?  I see beauty about me and want to reach out, but you stifle me, dear old dad.

But I will continue to whisper to you the things that once were true.  The things that took shape in making the man that has become poor old you.”

If you will not be a child, then you leave but one possibility.  You will be a man; accountable for all his sins.  All the while the child whispers, ignored by this world’s demands.

Belief is freedom.  Unbelief is a heavy chain.  If you would be free, then remember the child you were.
