An Imaginary Friend

Close your eyes. Imagine that your house is perfectly clean. Keep them closed long enough, imagine hard enough, and when you open them you will believe it is clean. Imagination is powerful enough to destroy reality.

Imagine that you are a Christian. Keep your eyes closed to the reality of the things you do. And when you open your eyes, before The living God's Christ, you will believe that you have been a Christlike one all your life.

How many live their religion in the realm of imagination? The sunrise is not imaginary. Neither is the Son, nor He in us.

The Other Side

The façade is quite complete. The wall erected between heaven and earth is unmovable by man.

People stare at the wall. They imagine all kinds of things on the other side. And how quick they are to believe in their own imagination. “My mind can see it.   It must be true!”

Even scientific medicine promotes more imagination. “We can stave off death. We can bring many back from the brink of death.” They proudly say, “We are saving lives”. Still, the wall arrives, and their proclamation falls empty on the ground.  Having spent a fortune, the people still bury their dead.

Consumed with the trivial and temporary things, people waste the moments of their life without the slightest care. They entertain themselves with an insatiable lust for more. Still, the wall looms like a shadow over Man.

All the while, the Bible lay closed. An earnest searching for the will of God is pushed aside. The populace prefers their own imagination. Religions of man abound. Science-fiction appears to be more believable than the words of the Living God. The unmovable wall takes no notice.

Here is today. It is filled with the things that ARE. Imagination is like a boy filled with fear; eyes wide, screaming at the top of his lungs, and arms flailing about. He will not listen to the calm voice of his parents. Lacking wisdom, woven tightly in his fear, his ears are firmly shut.

Is there a better day to read the words of God and believe what you read? Is there a better day to pray for clarity? Will there be a better day to ask God for sanity?

Tim Linhart

Has he found a doorway?

By rationale, they say, “We can perceive the eternal things by the work of our own hands. We don’t need Christ Jesus to see God.”

Really now.

Then what is the use of Christ’s sacrifice?   What is the use of God the father elevating his Holy Son to first of all creation?  Why has he said to us, “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to God but through me.”

If a man can save himself by the work of his own hands why did God bother to suffer for our sake?  If the work of our hands can bring us near to God, then we don’t need Christ!  SUCCESS!  Right?

Tim Linhart is famous for his ice music. A friend of mine says we should go and see this.  So I looked it up.

I will not go and see it.  The what he has done is interesting and wonderful.  But in his explanation he attributes spiritual aspects he has no right to attribute.  He says that since we are made with melted water we find a connection to spiritual things through the music of ice.  Really?

Is there a door to eternity that a man may pass through by the work of his own hands?  Or is the spiritual emphasis only found in the imagination of a man with some talent to wield sharp objects against ice?  And, if self-salvation can be achieved through ice, why not cow pies too?

Read the Gospel. You determine for yourself what is true and what is imagination.  The entirety of eternity is at stake in such presumably small details.  Either Christ is King or he is of no value.

The Good Ritual

I said to the Lord, “I am a liar and a fool. The only good I have is imagined honor. Imagination is not food.

But you Holy Father, in Christ your Holy Son, are righteousness and purity forever. In your wisdom you created mercy. In your Holiness you created justice.”

Then I said, “Let me own my sins. Let justice rain on my soul. Let the condemnation of my doings come and cast me to the ground. Let me see the damage I do so easily. Let me understand the murder I inflict.

It is then that I will seek mercy. It is then that I will cry out to you. It is then that you will offer your gracious hand of love. It is then that you will forgive my sins, allowing no punishment to come to anyone else because of me.

Let the matter be finished in the blood of your Holy Son. Let my legs find strength to stand. Let my folly be replaced with wisdom and restraint. Let me bring you honor by believing your Holy Word; your promise to bring life through forgiveness of sins.”

And so begins another day. And so the next morning will hear these words again.

By His Grace.

Common vs Holy

Among the people of this world, Christianity is considered a choice.  “So many choices.  So many variations of Truth.  And if you ask the follower of any religion whether his religion is true, what answer do you expect to get?  I will just pick something because it suits my personality.”

One will be a violent man, because he sees violence everywhere.  One will worship satan, because he has heard that there is power in evil.  One says he believes there is a God, but does nothing to find out what that God desires (That is the man’s religion).  Why should I continue to write about the other myriad of variations?  You know what they are.

And hasn’t God commanded that this is the way it will be.  The blind will remain blind.  The deaf will never hear the Holy nature of God’s Son.  All the generations of men have been this way.  So it will continue to the end.

But what are Christians commanded to do?  Do not be like the world.  Do not offer up appreciation for the foul things the world thinks are beautiful.  Did not say, along with them, “Man is innocent”.  We are to be a separate people to the Holy Living God.

As you look about you, is that what you see?  Who, among God’s people in Christ, will stand up and say no to sin and yes to the Righteous and Holy ways of Jesus?  Who, by their very life, will prove that there is a distinction between Christianity and every other variation of so-called truth?  Is the power of God given through Jesus?  Or is it just a series of words put in the right position at the right time?  If you believe that the others were justified in their selection of what they call truth, it would be good to examine whether you are a Christian.

The Reality of Freedom

People like to say they are free.  They love to dream about being free.  Free to do as they please.  Free to fly.  Free to imagine all kinds of surreal joys.  But frankly, we don’t know what freedom is.

How about these:

Free to live forever.
Free to love without  reservation or suspicion.
Free to move without any physical restraint.
Forever free from Pain, anxiety, fear, doubt, and any other negative experience.
Free from lies, temptation, forgetfulness, mistakes, harassment, anger, and so on.

And all this freedom forever!

What people want, what they dream about all day and all night, is in the hands of Jesus to give.  What does he ask in return?  “Love me more than these.”
