The Great Examination

It seems to me unfair that in this life we can restart a failed task. For once we are born it cannot be taken back or done again. And once we die from this place we can never return.

It’s odd, that the two absolutes of our life are the beginning and end of so many restarts. It’s almost like everything in between is nothing but smoke and mirrors to obscure the inevitable.

By this the test is real. Will we love what is absolute and true, or will we succumb to the temporary lie?

“Fill Er Up”

There was a man who was in the habit of filling the tank on his car with just enough gasoline to get where he wanted to go.  He was careful to calculate.  And for years he was successful.

Then the day came, that inevitable day.  He waited for an hour in Sub-Zero temperatures while the road was cleared so he could proceed.  He ended up 9 miles from his next refueling.  He froze to death as his car laying in the ditch alongside an empty road.

He had a good idea as long as things stayed stable.  But it would be impossible to call his habits wise.  What, inside his pee size brain, told him this world was stable enough to act like that?

God calls every single human being to honor his Holy Son and become a servant of Eternal truth and life.  I don’t say this to judge but it is a proper question.  How many people fill their soul with just enough God to get through the day with some form of prosperity?

There is coming a day for every person, and likely more than one, where their personal religion will not suffice.  God is life.  How much Life do you carry with you?

The Religion of Speculation

The recent downswing in the stock market shows the fragile environment that Man relies so heavily upon.  Speculative investments and mass production have become the religion of the day.  And in this religion there is no god but Man.

This god that Man has created will rebell against those who have created it.  It is an unsustainable desire for wealth and prosperity.  It is created by dead desire, therefore it has no life in itself.

This is to speak of the way things are from the perspective of Man.  But what has been said here has not taken into account the active involvement of the Living God.  For while the things of man deteriorate and act against the ones who set it up, the earth itself will begin to undermine the desires for security.

Where crops were stable, feeding the creators of false religion, they will begin to fail.  Where infrastructure was dependable, it will be shattered in various places.  But still man will lie, saying that things will get better.

There is no god but the Living God in Christ Jesus.  There is no sustaining strength except that which God provides.  There is no hope but that which lay in Truth.  There is no peace but a life led under the direct guidance of the Lord Jesus.  There is no sustaining power but the blessing of God on those who are righteously bent toward his will.

Consider these things with strong sobriety.
