The Leverage of Poverty

There has been active debate regarding the “poor” in America.  The liberals have proposed and instituted social programs which do not help the poor in their plight beyond causing them to survive for the sake of gain by those who have created these programs.  This is not the will of God that we might make widows and orphans of those who are quite well attached to family and bodily able to fend for themselves.

We have become a nation of wicked greed, for those who would translate our language into obscure meanings (as does their father from the beginning), have brought a black corruption to the very fabric of daily life in America.  We now rise from our beds daily to witness the poisonous fruit of their corruption among us.  And though we chide and teach them with all our might they only chase after this putrid religion of man all the more.

Yet, what should we expect from those who do not have the counsel of God among their members?  They are black with sin; darkened in their minds and souls by the greed that has become their clothing.  All the while they are making more dependent on their powers, they chide and rail at God’s people for not taking care of the poor.  How is this unlike Pharoah commanding the Israelites to make the same quota of bricks without their supply of straw?

May we look forward to the redemption that belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ.  There is a place where such things will never live again.  We warn with all our might, for it is our holy duty to speak against the folly of man.  But we also understand that what is unholy will prosper more and more before the coming of our Lord.

There was a letter written from Ignatius of Antioch to Polycarp, in which he addressed the proper way to approach poverty and slavery.  We are to be wise in all our dealings in this matter.  For pride is not singular to the rich.  Pride is the companion of even the starving beggar if wisdom of God does not reside in his bones.

“Despise not slaves, whether men or women. Yet
let not these again be puffed up, but let them serve
the more faithfully to the glory of God, that they may
obtain a better freedom from God. Let them not desire
to be set free at the public cost, lest they be found
slaves of lust.”

How then have the liberals helped the poor by encasing them in luxury?  How have they helped the poor by removing the calluses from their hands?   They have made them an item of profit, both for the sake of greed and of power.  Take note and be wise regarding the call of the liberals for duty regarding the poor.  The Lord’s wisdom does not make such slaves of men.  There is a freedom these power mongers know nothing about.

By His Grace.

Employing Faith

We tend to think that unless we ask the Lord for help He does nothing.  How can that be true?  He spins the world; did it ask to be spun?  He feeds the birds, did they ask for a worm to be created that day?  He sets your lungs billowing.  Did you ask to breathe last night?  He causes sleep and wake to come upon all.  Do they need to ask for either?

The problem with our understanding of God is that we tend to think of Him as a remote individual who is not immediately in charge of all things.  He saw what you needed before you were born.  He knew what was going to form your mind as you grew.  And, rest assured, He understands the dynamics of sin among men.

We cannot perceive where a certain set of sins will lead.  Sin is chaos.  Yet God knows.  Why else does He proclaim that all sin leads to death?  Jesus holds the keys to life and death.  He knows how to open one and shut the other.  He knows how to bring a man from death to life.  And He knows how to bring a man from life to death also!

So let us be wise and remember that God is not some kind of idle power house.  He is vividly active among men and angels.  Nothing escapes His attention.  And He sees farther down the road than we often give Him credit for.  Trust, do, and trust again.  If you have been blessed to know that Jesus is the Son of God, you are also blessed to be guided in all you do.   Employ your faith (that faith which God gave you to accept His Son as your Lord and Savior).

God does as He pleases.  Just sit and wait.  Do what is right.  Give Him all Glory for everything you encounter.  He will move for such people.  He will protect your faith.  He will move around you and in you to create a kind of person He can be pleased with.

Did Jonah ask for the shade God provided?  Did Nineveh ask for the message of salvation that was brought to them?  Did the Israelites love Jesus when He appeared to bring them the message of repentance and hope?  Yet God moved without having been asked.  Did any of His followers ask God the Father to have His Son crucified?  Yet God’s wisdom was moving among them to accomplish just that.

Did the Israelites ask for slavery?  Yet God brought it upon them so that they could be witnesses to His Majestic power to save.  What has come upon you?  Why do you balk as if you don’t deserve it?  Aren’t you surprised at the things God does for you all day long?  Endure!  Remain a person with a clean heart, mind, soul, and hands.  Just wait.

I re-read this message and ponder what “is” in my life.  I am struck by how we expect something from the Lord when we are but His servants.  What an amazing sort of place God has set us to abide in.  Cast about with every form of evil, we are expected to understand and obey.

It is not hard to obey.  It is hard to strain at the restraints He has placed on us all.  It is so very easy to let Him be King.  So why do I constantly look to be useful?  He alone is useful.  And as we serve Him by remaining at the ready we become useful.  It’s as simple as that, isn’t it?

It has been foisted upon them to be hated from birth.  The very nature of their name draws enemies on every side.  Yet they remain.  Lies and accusations abound against them.  If they are poor or rich, matters not.  If they have, someone else demands an accounting.  If they have not, “Well, they deserve it”.  By appearance they are no different than any other man or woman.  Yet they were carved out of humanity by the sovereign God Himself.  Set like a jewel among beads of lead, the Israelites suffer against their will.

It was not their choice to be children of a man of faith.  They were born as God desired.  And are supported even to this day by His Glorious hand.  They are the hated throng.  But the hatred they endure is only that of blood filled sacks.  Envy is the engine of all war against them.  The name they bear is from the Lord.  And it was to His people that He appeared, to draw up a bridge for all men.

My thanks to my brothers, into whom I am adopted.  I was not from you.  But Jesus made it so.  You do not stand alone.  And I am sure they will soon come for the adopted children also.  May God continue to bless your leaders with wisdom and strength.

Family Matters

In speaking with the Lord about who I have become, by His Grace, He showed me something of great value.  I was frustrated by the limits of righteous behavior I found in myself.  While I thought of Enoch, the seventh from Adam, and how he pleased the Lord so that God took him.  He lived for 365 years on this earth.  And he did not taste death because he lived in such  a way as to please the Holy and living God.

I looked at my life and wondered at my own wickedness.  As the sadness of my utter failure came seeping in, the Lord spoke an idea to me that has helped greatly.  I will try to convey the understanding with as little words as possible.

There are 12 tribes of Israel.  And each tribe has its own clans.  A clan represents a collection of families who trace their history to a common origin.  While they belong to a certain tribe they are identified under certain sub segments of that tribe.

Then the Lord showed me something I had not considered.  The Gentiles, that is those who are not Jews by birth but who belong to the line of  people who do not have the direct blessing under Moses, are divided into clans also.  Let me explain.

There are men who were raised in families who have passed on a love for the things of the Lord.  There are families who have passed on the love for traditions of men.  There are families who promote certain levels of sin in their lives as if it is their right to chase after a limited amount of wickedness.  And then, there is my clan.  Those who have passed on a boundless wickedness to their children.

The Lord in His mercy will judge us from the stock we were raised in.  What were we taught as children that has remained undetected within our memories?  A man who was raised by holy parents (gentiles, none the less) will remember things holy.  A man who was abused sexually and driven from holy behavior since he was old enough to speak will not know how to perform for the Lord like the former family.

But here is the rub.  Have you excelled beyond your clan?  Are you striving to rid yourself of the horrible wickedness that was passed down to you?  This is where He helped me understand.  There is a certain peace involved in understanding these things.  His expectation for those of the lesser clans is not as intense as those who were raised to know better.

There is a whole lot more to say about this.  But I think, for the sake of readability, this is enough to convey the message.

God Will Forever be the Key

There are men who believe that the battle between The Righteousness of God and the wickedness of man is in the hands of men.   I will agree, in part, that man is directly involved in this war.  There is a saying being promoted, “We will be the key.”  um, I don’t think so.  The battle belongs to the Lord Most High through Jesus, His Righteous Son!

It was not the strength of man which parted the sea for God’s people.  It was not the strength of man which brought the Lord’s people out of Egypt.  It was not the strength of man which provided the manna every morning for 40 years.  It was not the strength of man that shut the lion’s mouths, rendered the flames harmless, brought droughts upon a wicked land, nor brought the rain at the prayer of a righteous man.  It was the Lord who did all this.  And we will remember that those who thought they could subdue demons (in the book of Acts) were beaten bloody because they relied on their own strength.  Those men might have been (at least to man’s perception) righteous men.  But they did not embrace the power of the Lord in their attempted conquest of evil.

It was, is, and always will be, the strength of the Lord which delivers His people; individually as well as nationally.  Be wise and remember.  Or at least be wise and read.
