Astounding Warfare

Man goes to war with tools of death, that he may bring a “ceasing” to his enemy.

God goes to war against the “deceased”, that he may bring them to life.

Man’s enemy says to him, “We will not die today. It will be you who’s eyes will close!”

God says to his enemy (the dead), “Ask of me and I will open your eyes”.

Curiously, how many say “NO!”, choosing instead to remain in death.

What in odd battlefield the Holy One inhabits.

Freedom À la Violence

“Wherefore, if you see another sin openly or commit a serious crime, do not consider yourself better, for you do not know how long you can remain in good estate. All men are frail, but you must admit that none is more frail than yourself.” Thomas à Kempis

                          BE SOBER!

There is no one more vile than I. For no one is more adept at destroying the work of God than my selfish nature which lives within me.

No matter what knowledge I have concerning righteousness, my roommate called selfishness knows nothing, desires nothing, and can produce nothing on his own. At the base of things, he only knows how to play with mud.

What counsel is there in these things? I see this: be careful not to judge the sinners all around us. For with one touch of the love of God, anyone of them can out strip us with the doings of the Holy Spirit.   Despise the action, but be ready to embrace the actor.

The one to whom much is forgiven, the same will love much. The one who is released from the deepest and darkest of dungeons will love the open spaces more. He understands captivity, and now embraces freedom with a violence.

But the one who does not perceive his own wickedness, this one sees no need to praise. Righteous humility eludes him.

God has raised mighty men from the sewer in the past. Rest assured, he is doing so today.

The Definition of Beauty

It is not my clothing that makes me beautiful. It is not the most exquisite possession that makes me important. It is not the agility of my flesh or mind, nor formidable power of my heroic will.

It is that the will of God works in me to accomplish the will of God. This makes me eternally valuable and pristinely beautiful. Such beauty is not open for debate.

It is so with everyone of his people whom he himself has called.

Jesus is first. Jesus IS. Jesus forever will be: the beauty of God, the majesty of God, the preeminence of God, and Life.

Value what you will, nothing on earth or in the imagination of man, can compare to the Glory of the Living God’s Holy Son; The Lord of HIS glory – both in this place and forever sealed in HIS temple.

THIS IS BEAUTY DEFINED!

Where y’all going?

“Are you going to go to heaven?” Someone may ask you that. It’s the answer that I find very interesting. Perhaps we say “yes”. But isn’t that where our minds stop?

It’s not the arriving my friends. It’s the remaining.   We don’t go to heaven as if we mark it on our bucket list; as if someplace we have always wanted to go.

Those who trust the Lord Jesus, and count Him as their God, will THERE remain. His promise is to take us to a place we have never seen nor imagined.  Isn’t that true?

One might dare to say, “I’m already there”.  Isn’t his promise that solid and sure?

Questions

They say, “yes”.

“We live in a land of shadows.  Reality and forever is beyond our comprehension.”

They say “yes”.

“Eternal reality has come to walk among us.  He brought the incomprehensible to live in our language.”

They say, “I’m not sure”.

When the Lord promised to bring beauty to the ugly.  Though true light was brought to us we prefer to live in shadows.

They say, “I don’t know”.

When they wonder, “Does this apply to me”.

It applies to everyone. How are you not included? And if we have been included, how can we possibly remain silent and timid?

Is it wicked for a man to eat a marvelous meal in the comfort of his home while the beggars crouch around his steps?

Useless Women

What’s called an argument can have two meanings. One is a volatile debate between two people who are not willing to see eye to eye. No, this is a bad thing. The other can be referred to as a substantiation of something true. Yeah, that’s what I’m about to do.

The arguments for Christ are irrefutable. They can be denied, but that’s always at our loss. They can be taken wrong; that is to say, they can be taken personally as an offense. But that’s to misunderstand the entire purpose of such an argument.

Here’s an interesting argument for Christ.

The young man is out to seek a wife. He’s a good looking young boy, so there’s a lot of very beautiful and talented women who want his company. What should he choose?

If he considers himself an ugly and useless young man he’ll choose wisely. But if what he’s looking for his beauty and talent and lots of joyful unions, he’ll choose wrong.

When a man or woman except the gospel of Christ, they are taken into the house of Christ. From that vantage point they are shown numerous marvelous things. They become part of the bride of Christ. Then they are sent out into the world to be useful to their husband. They are to help him add to his bride.

What if they consider themselves beautiful and talented? Won’t they become just as useless to their husband as all the beautiful women who chased after the young man?
