From My Point of View

From my point of view, God is indescribably great.

Some may call my point of view theology.  But in saying that, I think they would have a hard time nailing down what I believe.  Even I would have a hard time finding supporting scriptures.  But then I’m not a scholar.  And my knowledge of Scripture is usually pointed in the direction of application, not theology.

What I believe has come to me by Bible reading, faith, prayer and diligent observation of God moving in my life.

In the way of Bible reading, I am relatively fluent.  But there are certainly masters of the art.  I may well remember what it says, but I likely can’t tell you chapter and verse.

I say faith.  I’m afraid you need a microscope to find mine.  If faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain, how much can I hope to brag.  The Rockies are still where I found them.  The Appalachians are still filled with trails to hike.  And there are still enough hills in America to hide gigantic wheat fields.

As far as prayer is concerned, I am no prayer warrior.  I am more the man who will pray as he knows, and ask to be taught.  It is here that God has revealed enough to make me able to walk as a Christian.

I am no prophet as some define Prophets.  And I am no teacher, but for the fact that we all teach by the way we act.

And as far as diligent observation goes, I see with what bleak eyes God has chosen to give me.  I watch the wind blow.  I listen to the words men speak.  I take note of the way of men as opposed to the way of God.  And I even listen to the birds.

All of this was written to admit I know nothing.  All of this was written to avoid a war of words and ideas.

With all that said let’s get back to the idea of how great God is.

We are a product of an answer to an accusation.  The accusation is that God demands too much and does not provide sufficiently.  (this is the specific belief that may draw conflict)

How great is God?  God is so great that he allowed an enemy to amass, in a place that he willingly created.

God is so great that he entered this mass of enemy.  He assumed their form and there was nothing beautiful about him that he should be desired.

God is so great that he willingly taught this enemy about a way to live instead of die.  All this he has done knowing what would happen.

God is so great that he allowed his enemy to take him by force.

God is so great that he did not complain while they mocked and beat him.

God is so great that he allowed them to strip him of all his glory.  He let them flogg him to the point that he was no longer recognizable as a man.  And in this he made no complaint or accusation.

And here is the crowning achievement of the greatness of God:  that when the Word of God assumed his place as the rightful King of kings, he reached down to his mass of enemy, and continually offers salvation for those who hate him.

Yes God is great!  Men may dispute his existence.  But for those who believe, he is the supreme power of salvation.

Oh how my soul wants to continue.  There are so very many reasons why God is great.  But I’ll leave this to stand.

May the spirit of God strengthen, convict and convert as the will of God dictates.

Amen!

By His Grace

For now, but then

For now we suffer a little.  How shall our suffering compare to that of Christ?  Where is our righteousness that the nails should pierce so sharply, releasing Holy blood?

For now we live in confusion.  But how does that compare to, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”  how should we say our questioning is just?

For now we look to die.  But how does our death compare to that which was foretold; Not a bone will be broken.  He will make no complaint as he is led to slaughter.  And, to rise into immortality in three days?

We worship the Son of God for he is a utterly unlike us.  His faithfulness to the Holy Father is without fault.   Our righteousness is by faith alone.  But the righteousness of the Son of Man has been from the beginning, unblemished.

For now we have nothing to offer that belongs to us.  Every good thing we have is given from above, full of Mercy and Grace.  How shall that compare to the sacrifice of our Lord?  He has given that which has belonged to him from eternity, and that for the sake of his enemy.

For now we see as through a glass darkly.  But then we will know fully and be perfected by the strength that is Jesus, the Christ of God and our Lord.

Let us free ourselves from all that is unrighteous.  For now, let us worship Him in all that is true that he may then receive what is rightfully his.  Let us renew an earnest heart, for the sake of our appearing before Him.

By His Holy promise we shall be perfected.  Even though, for now, we stumble about as blind men in a freshly plowed field.  We trust, and rightly so.  For Christ Jesus has earned the right to sit as King of Kings!

Great news!!!

Hey there studly guy!  Howdy gorgeous woman!  Have you heard the news lately?  Scientists are saying with a slight tweak to the genetic material they can cause us to live for 500 years!  Whooo hoooo!!!!!!

You might think that’s good news, but its not.  Even if they invent that tweak  tomorrow morning and you happen to have enough money to purchase a dose of whatever they make, you’re still gonna die.

Yep.  You’re going to get old and wrinkly.   Your bones are going to give out on yah.  Your eyes won’t work too well.  And you’re going to turn up your TV really loud.

Then the day will come. The Sun will shine.  The birds are going to chuirp.  People will laugh, cry, eat, and dance.  But you won’t be here.  Nope you just won’t be here.

I’m not going to bother to tell you where you will find yourself on that day.  You wouldn’t listen to me if I told you.  And you wouldn’t change your life if you let me talk to you.

I just wrote this little piece for you,  in case the Lord happens to be merciful and cause you to drop by here.

There’s no need to tell you to have a good day.  That’s the entire focus of your life isn’t  it.

By the way, my hope’s name is Jesus.

Oh Holy Men of God

Oh, holy men of God.  I salute you with an earnest heart.  I would have gone with you as you engage the enemy on that bloody ground in the land of lies.  But I allowed my hands to be tied with sin.  How I cried as I watched you go.  How regal you appear as you marched in the feet fitted with the Gospel of peace.  But it is given to me to carry firewood and water for your families.  How earnestly I desired to go.  But I find myself fit for the task He has given me.  And in my amazement, He has granted me this task!  Peace to you who fight the good fight.  Glory to He who calls us both.

My brothers go in assurance.  Your families are well cared for.  I will carry the wood and water till my hands bleed.  I will break my back for you.  You go to accomplish that which I can only dream.  Though imagination fill my heart with grand visions which belong to you, still I am but dreaming.  He has chosen you to fight with a strength I will never have.  He has gifted you with a righteous life behind you.  He has raised you up with a holy history that man cannot assail.

And now, I pause to wipe my eyes.  Look at how beautiful He has made you!  Look at the sparkling among your ranks from the Holy Sword of the Word of God.  How beautifully it is wielded in the hands of a righteous man!

Go in peace my brothers. Your back is where I belong.  Through tears of regret I watch you go.  But I will now turn, with all my might, to care for those you are sent to defend.  In the end, we serve the same Glorious Lord!  And we will celebrate with great joy on the marvelous day of God!  Bless you, that He has considered me worthy to serve those who rise so tall.  Glory to Jesus!

I wipe my tears and pray for iron hands, a backbone fitted with steel, and a heart filled to over flowing with purpose, for the Holy One they serve.

As I turn I consider you who laugh at this display of love.  Subduing wrath, I will speak to you.

There is a place where the wickedness of man will be decimated!  You laugh now, but you will ache with a deep and eternal sadness.  You revel in rebellion now.  But you will desire to run for shelter from the face of the Most High God.  You celebrate every wicked thing, and even call God a liar.  But it is you who will shudder as your lies are brought out for all to see.

Those men of God I salute tell you the truth.  As a man I beg you to listen to them.  For now you hate those gallant men.  But there is a day coming when you will desire even the strength to look at them.  Listen to the Gospel they speak.  They speak the truth from lips blessed by the Most High God!  They speak what is true and it will not be taken from them.  Please, please, listen to them!

“We Can Do It”

No one has to listen long to hear this popular saying, “We can do it.”  That saying has its place in certain things.  When it comes to moving a large rock with poles, the men may say, “We can do it.”  The saying indicates encouragement and determination to do what can be done if we try hard enough.  A new baby can bring that saying from the lips of the husband when they consider the awesome task of raising a child.

But is it appropriate to say that when we encounter problems we know are too large for us?  A man wakes up from the night’s sleep.  After considering the day before him, he has no right to say, “I can do it.”  He has no idea of what lay ahead.  The probability that he can’t do it is far more than the likelihood that he can.  Things happen beyond our control and we are forced at many times to realize that we couldn’t do it.

Billions of people have thought they could whip a problem into shape.  But notice the past tense of that sentence.  By our very nature, we are not designed to handle life alone.  We band together to build a city.  We band together to invent new means to do what we couldn’t do without that invention.  Has anyone asked why?

It’s hard for people today to imagine living life with a simple campfire, tent, and stone tools.  What did those folks do?  How did they cope?  Though they banded together to accomplish more than could be done alone, they were never-the-less helpless in the face of a storm.  Things too large constantly emerge to threaten our lives.  And the saying, “We can do it.”, falls on deaf ears in the aftermath.

We are designed to rely on something larger than ourselves.  That’s who we are.  And even the greatest of our inventions will never thwart sickness, hunger, alienation, and death.  Even our ability to think is sent off into oblivion when we are faced with a series of thoughts necessary to accomplish something large.  We’re “one thought beings”.  That’s a fact that can’t be denied.  Oh, we can manipulate a few thoughts within a minute or two.  But this only gives us the appearance of being able to think more than one thought at a time.  We are quite fragile and helpless, in the sum of things.

Why is this so?  And why is this ignored today?  Liars have emerged to convince us that we can do something that should not be done.  Where this is so very blatant is in society itself.  We are being told that if we want to change the world, “We simply need to try harder.”  Lie!  The entire world is under the rule of Jesus, the King of Kings.  It is He who sets up leaders.  It is He who has created this place of limitations.  And it is He who determines how far man will go and what he will be able to accomplish.

This is the “hole” in our lives that we keep trying to fill with invention.  We were never intended to live independent of His Rule.  But look at how man is striving to replace Him.  Cell phones, TVs, central heating, cars, roads, a fragile economic system, and more.  None of this can do what God can do in a moment.  Yet we continue to try.  God has called all this what it is, “The works of man’s hand.”  And He has promised that godless men will never forsake these works.

Something to consider folks.  I encourage you to give this some thought.

By His Grace.
