Worthless Powers

The superstitions of Man are so abundant and deeply rooted that we often live in endless trouble determining what is false and what is true.  The Living God alone is true.  He has glorified his Holy Son as the only source of Truth.

We say we know this.  How is it then that we continually turn to superstition as a testimony of what is strength?  “I hope luck will be with me.”  “Maybe Fortune will smile on you.”  And I won’t name the kind of so-called gods people use to bless one another.

Why do we beat around the bush?  Why do we call on every “power” but Jesus, when we speak to one another about prayer and the power of God?  Why is the name of the only true God so hideous that we are ashamed to speak it with confidence?  Are we truly afraid that others will laugh at us?  Is that all it takes to make us cower in the dark shadows?

Whose opinion matters?

You are all greater than I.  You are all reasonable and trustworthy people.  You have not done the things I have done.  But add this understanding to the things you do.  Then you will be the people you say you are.

Unexplainable Sadness

We have been accused of self righteousness.  We have been accused of judging others without authority.  They even accuse us of taking joy as we turn their laughter into sobriety.

But I see they do not accuse us for the tears we shed on their behalf.  They do not accuse us of having legs weakened by horrible sadness, because we understand their coming plight.  They do not accuse us of praying earnestly for their sake.  They accused us because they say we don’t care.  But their saying has no foundation.

12 When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. 14 The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. 15 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slavee and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”  (Revelation 6)

Classic Horror Movies

In any horror movie you might watch, you’ll find the victim fairly clueless until understanding comes home.  The world is living a real horror story.

They’re all happily busy hating and devouring one another, thinking quite highly of themselves, and gathering whatever kinds of trinkets they can gather.  Yucking it up with parties and laughter.  All the while time is pushing them forward to the judgement day.

Isn’t it interesting that they pay millions of dollars to be scared, but they pay no attention at all to the truth.

Only the serious know how to truly laugh

Celebrate and feast, you world of the godless.  What great pains you contrive to hold the Lord of Life at the edge of the universe.  But He was here before you opened your tiny eyes.

Party, laugh, lie, and plot in vain.  For all that is God was from before the foundation of the world.  And all that is God will continue long after that last laugh is let loose from lying lips.

Corrupt, devastate, destroy and condemn, all you who strive to gain what you can’t keep.  While your busy, bloody, hands grasp at each others throats, the Glorious God of Righteousness, peace, freedom, and life, is planning your destruction.

Shed your tears, you who love the Lord. Let the belly convulse in sorrow at the plight of Righteousness among the wicked.  Sigh deeply, you who witness the heavens and remain on earth.  For your prayer of non-words is heard.  Raise those forgiven hands, you who plead for mercy.  For all that is holy will soon be yours.  Those who’s belly is craving true manna, your fast will not be in vain.  For the feast is coming when all is peaceful.  Where the joyful blast of perfect lips will proclaim the Glory of He who redeems His own.
