The East Fence

Snuggle up to the threshold of heaven.

There make your bed and wait.

Abandon the herd and wait by the East fence.

Lightning will splash on green grass and the lake.

But caring eternal fingers will pluck up those who wait.

Eat sparsely where the grass is dry.

The luscious fields that draw are a ruse.

The beckoning bellows of joy are a lie.

Listen for the voice of your herdsman’s truth.

To the East fence, and stay nearby.

Lightning in the Snow

I had heard it was true, but I had never seen it.

But what is that to me; what do I know?

Lightning in the snow.

I am in the winter of my life.

It came to me without asking.

I did not ask for this storm.

But it has proved to me what I did not know.

Lightning in the snow.

Men live out their days and die.

Mostly quietly fade away.

But some with godly knowing.

There is lightning while it’s snowing.

Such lives are driven by great, wonderous power.

Such lives become full of “Knowing”.

There is lightning while it’s snowing!

Something from Nothing to Perfection

Man has invented (or realized) many items.  He tells his brother that his life is better for all the things they have made.  First came steel.  Then came the computer chip.  And man is boasting quite loudly that his hand has been able to save him.  From what?

God spun the world and all items of creation from absolutely nothing.  Man refers to the big bang.  God says He just spoke and the universe, in all its complexities, came into being.

Man makes a car.  Absolutely straight wheels glide the chassis and body down relatively smooth roads.  And with this invention, man’s world is transformed.

God makes a cloud rise up.  Turmoil between heat and cold eventually provoke a lightning strike.  Though lightning seems to us arbitrary, God does not see it that way.  He tells us the lightening answers to Him, “Here I Am.”

It comes from the cloud.  Traces the most random appearing path to the ground possible.  Then hits exactly the spot on the earth that God intended it to hit.  Amazing precision through apparent random behavior.  But this is the nature of God’s ways.  It is man’s way to control nature.  It is God’s way to use what is natural to perform absolutely perfectly precise tasks.

Man invented the car.  God created man’s feet.  And what a difference between the results of both.  Everything man does is destined to collapse.  Everything God does is destiny.

The Faint Rumblings.

Another day, another lightning storm. This was...

Image via Wikipedia

The world around us is beginning to crash to the ground.  Listen to the sound of destruction.  It comes from the hills.  Like distant thunder we hear the faint rumble of hopelessness and death.  Listen!  Be still and listen with all your heart.  The approach is in progress.  It is an approaching “storm of wickedness”.

God has promised that man will endure a horrible time in the last days.  His wrath has been held back for thousands of years.  He has been patient and loving for everyone who will call upon Him.  And He has shown mercy on the godless and ungodly as they mark out their days in rebellion and cursings toward the Holy One of Israel.

But listen.  Can’t you hear that faint rumble?  It is the collapse of man’s ability to fend off chaos.  Man has determined that he is able to bring about peace on this world.  How can there be peace in a world of limited resources?  How can there be peace anywhere without the Living God directing the ways of man?

They have thrown His Holy Commands aside in favor of pleasure and pride.  Now they begin to pay the price.  And as the Day comes closer, the price will increase.  God will be glorified.  And rebels will be subjected to humiliation, defeat, fear, and destruction.  Listen to the faint rumble.
