Cutting the Difference

Christmas is coming.  Many will now turn to a false religion.  From their daily life of caring nothing for the things of God, they will now act as though the gospel belongs to them.  They will quote a portion of Scripture that says, “Peace on earth and goodwill to men”.

Smiles on peoples faces, music of God will fill the air, and winter will force a certain diminishing of wickedness.  Ungodly behavior is but a seed planted in late fall.  A treasure of the wicked waiting to sprout in spring.

Christmas is a time of year when the word of Jesus gets passed around rather fluidly.  But what about the other 11 months of the year?

Consider these tidbits  from the Bible.

1 Peter 4:
17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And,

“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”

Proverbs:
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
and the one who is wise saves lives.
31 If the righteous receive their due on earth,
how much more the ungodly and the sinner!

Luke 2:
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

2 Timothy:
19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”

Seek the Lord’s favor while it is still called today.

With all that he has, I watch Man search for peace.

Entertainment and distractions abound.

Yet Peace eludes him with the agility of eternity; avoiding without boundaries.

Entertainment and distractions abound.

Peace lives and thrives in the brilliance of perfect righteousness; the place where the eye of Man is not fit for perception.

All the while:

Entertainment and distractions abound.

He who abandons the futile path of discovery, can go nowhere else but the path of the Holy Lord God Almighty.

There he will find Peace, pleasantly and joyously waiting to receive him.

Who will be patient enough to abandon the pursuit of entertainment and distractions?

This one is likely to find Peace.

His name, is Jesus the Christ of God.

Peace and Safety

The beginning of the end is not marked by a crescendo of rebellion.  It is marked by a flat line of the peace of man.

What time is it?

1 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. (1 Thesalonians 5)

The Rift

“To all perfection I see a limit, but your commands are boundless.”  (Psalm 119:96)

All of them were right.  Every one of them gave his testimony; with what words they had, they described what they saw.  Chaos exploded before their very eyes.  Reality appeared then vanished.

A car accident, in full view of many witnesses.  Differing statements were taken.  And the question is asked in retrospect, how can so many variations of witness exist?

It is because there is a difference between believing and seeing.  It is because there is a difference between the imagination and true perspective.  When what we believe comes into view, we find we do not have the words to describe it.

For a split second a rift opened between the peace of man and the truth of God.  For a split second the reality of eternity displayed itself before their very eyes:  “If man continues on that destructive path, bodies will be exploded where they live”.

Yes.

The Incarnation of the Word of Life

1 “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our joy complete.”

From Demand to Debate

What does the world say?

“Love me while I am wicked, with no intention to do what is pure and good!”

What is the response of the Christian?

“Get your hands off my throat so we can talk.”

It Can’t Be, But it is.

I am remembering.

How blessed I am.

For consciousness no sooner returns to my sleeping mind, and the things of my God come flooding in.

I am remembering who I was.

What an unspeakable blight to heaven and earth, was I.

For in those days,

No sooner would consciousness come to my sleeping mind and everything I could do came flooding in.

No thought of God.

No thought of righteousness.

No thought of restraint,

Except for apprehension by the laws of society.

I am considering.

There is a place where creatures are not blind.

There is a place where there is no break of sanity.

It is not a place of “was”.

It is not a place of “will be”.

It is a place of “is”.

Here, righteousness floats about like Cottonwood seeds on the breeze.

Here, righteousness is like the irritating mosquito.

Here righteousness is, “I will get to it when I feel like it”.

But in the place of “is”, sin and blindness are like those things.

So I wake to eyes in my soul that see.

Among the people of abject blindness, this one can see.

I am remembering.

What mercy is the Living God, that a man such as I should know these things like this?

I am remembering.

What potential lay in the blind souls of every man on this planet?

And now I remember my pleasurable duty;

Speak release to the captives.

With the cunning of a predator,

With the gentleness of a good mother to a newborn.

With every skill of captivity man has invented.

Yet with every possible release the living God offers.

I wake to holy sanity.

This cannot be!

But it is!

The glory is not mine.

I am no inventor of righteousness, skill, hope, regeneration, or release.

I do not have it in my hand to do any of those things.

What is in my hand is only to point:

There is God.

Here is God.

All around inclusive and exclusive, there is God.

Nothing is hidden from his sight, as it is in the eyes of dead souls.

He is perfectly dependable,  full of righteousness, peace, mercy, justice, grace, patience, life and hope.

Show me the place here that even is a shadow of a likeness to those things.

That I should know these things!

It can’t be, but it is!
