The spike of peace

Our life can be considered as traveling upon a flat line.  What lay to the left is yet to come.  What lay to the right is written and sealed.  But the spike upon the line is the “now”.

What is to come is not.  What lays behind is done.  Only the moment should be of any serious consideration.  The faith of the future and the faith of the past squeeze together and cause us to be.

There is peace in the faith of what is to come.  For he who promises cannot lie.  There is peace in the faith of what is behind.  For the mercy of God in Christ covers us with beautiful righteousness.

So it is right to say as follows:

“I have peace regarding what comes for God is faithful and supplies.  I have peace regarding what has been for God is faithful to forgive.”

How then should we live in any anxiety?  The promises are sure.  Strength to sustain us is present.  And he has shed His Holy Blood as proof of our forgiveness. (Not only so, but he who believes in the forgiveness of Christ also gains a clean conscience)   How then shall we walk in anxiety?

This should be the aim and desire of every man and woman in Christ.  God has caused things to be in this way, so that his Glory maybe known for eternity.

But if we live in dreams, desire, greed and anxiety about the future, how does that bring glory to God?  And if we quake and shake and cry and moan for the wicked things we’ve done, how does this bring glory to the Holy blood of Christ?

But if we live in peace, understanding, knowledge of truth, and trust, then we live in the place that God has desired for all men to live. Then a man lives in eternity. Then he is prepared to receive the good things God desires to give. Then the man becomes.

Practice trust.  The righteousness of God covers us.  And we know that his righteousness is Holy true.

Is, Was, Will Be

When I wrote these words they were my “now”.  When you read these words they appeared before you in your “now”.   But as each word “was” written or read, it is no longer “now”.  Each word became what was.  That sounds like gibberish.  But it speaks of something vastly important.

We may remember but we cannot re-live.  It is only give unto man that he may live in what is.  Why then do we all struggle so hard to live in what was?  And how do we know that our memory is clear?  How do we know that we remember with fullness of understanding?

Who can change what has been done?  We may do again so that we may rectify what we found wrong.  But that does not change what has been done.  It only “does” again.

The past and the future are equally beyond our grasp.  In our memories we are helpless.  And the future looms as darkness.  Man is utterly helpless.

God in His wisdom created time; moments of “IS” come and go relentlessly.  Like a singular spike in an eternal line of doing.  Who has ears to hear this?  Who is willing to understand?

If a man has peace in what was it is because God has had mercy and forgiven.  If a man is not afraid of what is coming it is because he trusts the promise of the Holy One.

Anxiety lives just behind us and just in front.  But true peace is found in what is.  As long as we strive to live in what we remember we will face anxiety.  As long as we brace ourselves for what comes next anxiety dresses us as a garment.  But peace is found in faith alone.

The name of the sovereign God is “I am that I am”.  He alone owns what was.  And He does with it what pleases Him.  He alone owns what will be.  And He alone does what pleases Him to do.  Why then do his people live looking backward or straining forward?

Since we cannot change what was, we are forced to either live in anxiety or receive His peace.  And since we cannot know what comes we are forced either to live in anxiety or to receive His peace.  Both require faith.

God is.  Therefore if we follow him we must also live in what is.  To do otherwise only brings doubt.  And if that is the case he is right to refer to us as “ye of little faith”.

Leave what was in the hands of he who is.  Likewise leave what will be in the hands of he who is.  Strive only to do in faith.  In this you will find immeasurable peace.  In this you will come to understand that his burden upon you is light indeed.

Who can decipher the deeds he has done according to what is true?  And who has known the mind of God that he is sure of what will happen next?  If we are that tiny then why do we not believe?

God alone gives true understanding of these things.  Philosophers and poets have given their whole life to understand these things and to write them.  But those who are in Christ Jesus find themselves living them effortlessly.

Let the world work with their hands to provide what will be.  Their folly is evident.  Let the world build their filthy temple on the foundation of what was.  They build on nothing.  But let God’s people understand.  We do not build at all.  We trust in the Sovereign Lord.  His name is Christ Jesus.

The island

In the pitch like darkness of the deep ocean a rumbling of silt and sand occurred.  The slime of refuse gave way to molten rock.  Without approval, a mountain began to grow in the darkness.

The place had been desolate and quiet.  Though it had been a place of gathering for refuse, peacefulness and quiet had attended upon it. But now violence erupted where once there was nothing but filth.  The lord was pleased to cause a new place to grow.  And in his pleasure he spoke growth and life.

Lava forced upward the plate of rock that had once been the bottom of the ocean.  Months of great pressure and violence pushed the plate of rock toward the top of the sea.  Light began to touch the surface of the rock and it cringed at the new world it was being forced to inhabit.  Convulsions shook the plate and the edges curled around its new support.  “I am to perish!  Surely I am dying!”

“What are you doing Oh Lord Great God?  Did I not serve you well in the place where I was?  What is my sin that you should rip me from my rest?”  But the plate heard no reply.

Soon the sound of waves crashing at the edge stirred the plate into near panic.  How deeply it desired to return to its former place.  “This is no place of peace!  It is a place of torture!  What have I done to deserve this horrific uprooting?  Was I not content and faithful to support what the world no longer needed?”  Again, there was no sound from the Living God.  Only the frightening roar of water at the shore.  The tumult threatened to rip the rock apart.

In the years of a rock, very little time passed before the silt upon it top begin to produce.  Shrubs and rough grass filtered in to begin the final transformation.  Seeds had appeared by virtue of the birds who came to visit.  All the while the little island was frightened to see his surface so abused.

As the Island got use to its new place it began to see the beauty of the violence.  The Sun would rise and set, warming the rock in a new place called day.  The moon would bathe him in glorious shimmers; not at all like the darkness he had known.  And the sound of the waves often put him into peaceful sleep.  The wind of God shaped him into smooth and various form.  And the storms which came and went were a wonderous delight of activity.

One day, still a great mystery to the island, an animal set foot on his soil.  With great interest he watched this one.  It was not at all like the others who had come to visit.  Nor was it like those who had been a part of his previous world.  For the first time since his peaceful slumber of filth, the island felt pure joy.

“I like this one Lord.”  The island was heard to say.  “He tickles and scratches at my surface.  And now I am pleased for what you have done.  The pain and memory is receding and now there is joy.”

Centuries passed, and the island was a happy place of thriving life for a multitude of creatures.  What he had been before, he no longer desired to remember.  Joy filled his days and his new place produced great fruit for the Sovereign God who had caused him to be.

“Give thanks to the Lord and be faithful for He is good.  His mercy endures forever!  Be faithful and joy filled.  Give thanks and praise to God.”   The island had come to sing a new song.  “Do not be discouraged at the tumult which now attends your days.  For soon you will be thankful for the violent uprooting.”

The Peace of Man

Law among men is built to secure social prosperity.  Who can argue with a desire to restrain crime?  But the definition of crime does not need to contain the word “sin”.  It is easily seen that our laws disregard the use of that word on a regular basis.  One would think there is nothing wrong with excluding such words from man’s laws.  But let us consider what that means.

The laws that are supposed to promote social peace are a dangerous ground to cover.  If we exclude God from our laws what is left?  We simply create laws that relate to the affairs of men.  Such laws do not consider the Living God.  Therefore they do not consider pure righteousness or mercy.  They will, in the end, become profuse and often foolish.  After all, the Lord has said that there is a way which seems right to a man, but the end there of is death; the death of freedom and, eventually, the death of body.

In my short days I have watched laws go from reasonable to comedy.  But the effect of today’s laws is no joke at all.  I can be jailed for even writing this post.  It could be construed as “hate speech”.  But hate against who?  They would say I am expressing a hatred for the entire fabric of society.  (You may think I am over reacting.  Time will tell the story far more plainly.  These words won’t take long to be seen as viable.)  There are those who do not believe in a god at all.  They would be seriously offended by my inclusion of God in this assessment of law.  Though we are not at that stage yet, there is a day coming when that will be the case.

Already I get slammed by men of “religion” and atheists because I speak with authority about religious matters.  They take offence because I do not belong to their group.  And they strive to find fault with me and the words I write.  I do not say this to offend them.  But look at what must be spoken.  There is no lie in what I just wrote.  But they will certainly consider me a law-breaker.

Society wants peace.  All men want peace.  So do I.  But I don’t crave peace with men.  I crave peace with God.  His law is perfect.  It doesn’t take into consideration the laws of men.  While men try to mitigate against every possible offence, the Lord’s law stands firm.  And every infraction is an against insult to Him.  While men strive to rid themselves of His law and create their own, They error horribly.

Because of their law all who desire the Lord will eventually suffer alienation, slander, and isolation.  This has been the case from the beginning.  It is a firm enough aspect of loving God that the Apostle Paul addressed it quite pointedly.   12 “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 While evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”(2 Timothy 3)

I have found that to get closer to God causes my lips to make godly noises.  Without a doubt, such noises rile up man’s sense of independence from Him.  So be it.  I cannot turn away from the Living God to appease the machine of intolerant tolerance.  Not only is not wise before the Lord.  The law of man is far too unpredictable to be trusted for anything.  Yet this unpredictability is the very tool they are using to create their peace.  What superior folly man is caught in.  And all because he has decided to nullify the desire of the Living God among them.

There is hope, but not for man.  There is hope among those who desire God’s law over man’s.  There is a place where the Lord moves to close the door of man’s foolish ways.  When will it come upon us?  The Lord warns us clearly.  3 “While people are saying, ‘Peace and safety,’ destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5)

Look around you today.  Consider what you see.  Note how man has made almost everything illegal in one form or another.  The only place of escape today is to do everything they tell you to do.  But who can faithfully serve the capricious nature of men?  We are to embrace the enemies of our country because law has upheld them as legitimate.  We are to cease speaking of God in almost every place.  I wonder when such posts as this will become overtly illegal.

I suffer for writing.  So will you.  I suffer isolation and shame for speaking the truth.  So will you.  I write this, not to complain, but to point out the times we live in.  What time is it?  Look at the clock of society.  Where is the peace of man?  It nearly encompasses the entire world.  We are nearly at the door of the Lord’s action against us.  I encourage you to wake up and react appropriately.  Freedom to love God openly is about to pass away.  And this time there will be no place to run.  Get used to it now.  Practise your freedom while you still have it.  Prepare to stand against the ways of man, or you will be swallowed up in their folly.

I know it takes a boldness to stand for what cannot be seen.  But isn’t that what faith is all about?  By the mercy of God I have learned to consider Him more alive than any man I might meet.  He is real!  It is the way of man which is contrived.

By His Grace.

The Urging

God urges us from heaven.  He delivered His Holy words to us through His chosen messengers.  Then He delivered His chosen “WORD” wrapped in flesh.  These words urge us to accept the terms of peace from Him.

Men in hell desire to urge their loved ones to accept those terms from God.  Men in heaven desire the same of all men.  And we who serve Him among you here urge you to consider God’s terms for peace with Him.

Forget world peace.  There never will be any among the godless men who rule this world.  Greed inhabits even the fingers of the poor.  Where is the possibility of peace in a world filled with greedy souls?

But there is a peace offered between heaven and any man who will accept the terms.  What are the terms?  God has written them down for every man to read.  And every term has to do with His Holy Son Jesus.

Read them for yourself in the Bible.  Perhaps you can’t read.  Then use the friend who is reading this to you now.

You are being urged to avoid a certain and eternal punishment.  It’s real.  And so are the terms of peace.

I know how unpopular this message is today.  And so do you.  That should set off alarms within you.  Do you really think God allowed us to murder His Son only to let us have our own filthy way forever?  The price to pay for rebellion against God comes closer with every passing second.  Haven’t we wasted enough of them already?

By His Grace.

Strange Companions

Along the way through thickets of thorns

A place was found for rest.

Mid bugs and leaves I made my bed

Though not mansion, was considered best.

They who hate what’s good had jabbed at me

While thorns had torn my clothes.

But in this place removed from sight

His peace was left alone.

All praise to Him who made the leaves

Provided bugs for blessed words bade.

Tis better far to converse with those

Who envy my fleshly grave.
