Sober minded

Fires, pestilence, disease, floods, earthquakes, storms, Financial uncertainty, and all those bad things. They leave us quite unsettled don’t they.

In the midst of our unsettled minds, do we realize that it is our sin that has unsettled The peace of eternity?

Even so, many people still blame God for all their trouble. Truth is what it is.

Just One

How big and bad does something vile need to be to destroy a righteous Man?

Like a single ant on a pebble in the Rocky Mountain Range.

What then is the state of affairs for a wicked man?

Will you really then continue in your way until you were called to give account of yourself to God? Really, will you let your mind relegate the Judgment to the category called religion (conveniently forgetting and pushing aside the things that matter most)?

If you stand condemned for the things that you have done in the past, why add to it by not listening to Him today?

The judgment of God does not sleep. The gospel does not go silent. And your life continues as you choose to make it.

The Judgment of God will be like an F-5000 tornado. There will be no place to hide. And there will be nothing left untouched.

Let those who decide to be vile, continue then to be vile. But let those who can hear, hear with sobriety.

Panacea

Thinking about medicines. How we all wish there was one single pill you could take and everything would be great forever. That pill is called panacea. “The fix all to end all troubles.”

This week I’ve been stuffed full of antibiotics. So I’ve given a Little thought about a panacea. Surprise! Wouldn’t it be great. But it’s just wishful thinking. There is no such pill. But there is a panacea.

Everybody gets to take it. And it’s strength is endlessly useful. The funny thing is, no one seems to want to take it. But as soon as they do everything becomes perfectly right. It’s called death.

At the moment we take it, everything is divided into the places it should be and will be forever. Everything evil goes to the place where everything evil belongs (The wastebasket of eternity). And the righteous are released into eternal glory and joy. It is so powerful that once you take it it can never be undertaken.

Now that’s a panacea!   Who’s next?

The Road

The materials we use to build a road are worthless, and we consider them worthless. Except for the expense of labor and machinery, there is no value in asphalt. It’s just a mixture of tar and rock.

But come with me in your mind. Look at the streets of heaven. God is the living God. And in his kingdom there is no worthlessness. Everything is of him. Even his streets.  I surmise that everything in heaven is living.  And that there is no such thing as worthlessness.

What do we know about such a place as this? We travel all the roads without a single thought to the surface we are riding on. We throw trash out the window not the slightest concerned that we are making the road filthy. And every inch we travel is forgotten before we get to it.

Let me make a leap in thought. If this is the condition of difference between our world and the kingdom of heaven, what do we know about God’s righteousness? If we can’t even conceive the nature of God’s streets, how can we hope to understand the nature of his glorious sacrifice?

Like our roads, we know about Jesus. But isn’t it true that before we experience one moment of his glory, it is forgotten in the chaos of the day?

If we try to think on these things to deeply our brain just gives up. The best we can do is give him the best place of honor in everything that we are.

I’m not going to go into the contrast between how the world treats Jesus and how we should treat Jesus. But I sense how radically astounding the difference is.

What?

If someone will inherit the things of God in Christ,  why wouldn’t he or she be extremely passionate about the coming promise?  Even if that person’s faith is extremely small, you would think there is an unquenchable joy and yearning for the things of God’s promise.
But if that person truly believes what God has said about his people, how could they possibly resist sharing the joy?
Maybe they don’t understand what God has said.  Maybe they don’t know what God has said.  Both of those can be rectified by reading the New Testament.
But why would anyone who believes these things choose to live like the world lives?!  How could such a joy be pushed down to silence?  How could such a person have so much fun in the ridiculous and useless trivia of this world?  You would think their longing for the place God promises is so intense that none of the things here give them any joy it all.
I’m trying to help everyone see.  And I just don’t understand why they don’t.  I don’t want to infer yucky thoughts toward people.  But I’ll admit I’m running out of excuses.

Time & Places

When you think of eternity, who’s there?  When you think of eternity, what time is it?

Eternity is not marked with time as much as it is with places.  Much like the Sun would not know what day it is.  He simply keeps his place.

Who is in eternity?  We are, my friend.
