Stick IT!

I can’t tell people what to do to gain eternal life.  I can point them to the Lord Jesus.  I can mention the expectations of the Most High God regarding His Holy and Righteous Son.  But I can’t tell them how to put all that stuff into practice.

I can tell them to read the Bible.  But it’s up to them to do it.  I can tell them to pray.  But I’m not suppose to be privy to such a holy event, no matter how short.  I can tell them that they will do well to DO what they learn.  But I can’t make em.

So I don’t try much any more.  I tried to stick with em.  But I didn’t have the stick-to-itive-ness necessary to stick-to-em long enough to see em stick-with-it.  I’ll just stick-to-da-road and write about stick-to-itive-ness.

A Taste of the Chasm

To hear your voice a afresh.

To hear your words so clear.

After a time of rest,

Without your music in my ears.

I’ve spent time with the Holy One.

I’ve listened to his voice.

He has, my love for man undone.

He’s granted me The Choice.

But lies are all you know to speak.

Such noise is vast absurd!

Such peace and truth are mine to eat.

While you feast upon your words.

Then I come across the chasm,

Back to the place of man.

To stand among the chaos,

To hear your unholy demands.

To prayer with you, or away with you!

I cannot stand your din!

For nothing here can ring as true,

As 10 minutes spent with Him.

How great is the gulf twixt man and God,

How great is the distance between?

What is the dimension of impossible odds?

How vulgar is obscene?

Well Now

Cute little poems.
Yes I wrote some.

Mind breaking parables.
Well I tried to write a couple.

Scriptural revelations.
I had a few and wrote about them.

Soul altering visions.
I think I’ve had three, and passed them on.

Gigantic literary works.
None here.

Daily devotionals that will knock your socks off.
Nowhere in sight.

If you came here for inspiration, you may be disappointed.  Perhaps you should do what I did, read the Bible and pray.

What Does Jesus Do?

Jesus will forgive your sins.  How would it feel to have a clean conscience for a change? Will others understand?  No, but you will.

He will teach you to listen.  If you let him, he will teach you how to obey his Heavenly Father.  Even if you are full of rebellion and are difficult to teach, he will provoke you to obedience.  If only you will continue to call on him.

He will teach you of the eternal way.  What men say is good, changes from hour to hour.  He will teach you what lasts forever.

One thing at a time, you will overcome difficulties in your life that you did not even know you had.  Then as the appearance of maturity arrives, you and He will do a significant work to obliterate rebellion.

In the process of becoming a man of God you will develop peace.  With a clean conscience, and proof in your soul that God has accepted you, you will find you have no fear.  And the longer you walk with Him as your Lord, the deeper that peace will penetrate.

You will find yourself teaching others.  Not because someone told you you have to go out and evangelize, but because you simply can’t keep your mouth shut.  And you will not only tell them the words, but you will act them out in the their presence.

In time you will come to know you have eternal life.  You will not just believe the words that you were told, you will know, with clarity, those words are true, and that they belong to you.

Because he is always reliable, you will find yourself looking to him for every possible solution to every possible problem.  It won’t be a matter of discipline to go to prayer.  You will find you never leave it.

What does jesus do?  He will create such a change in you, that you will not be any resemblance to what you were.  And if you continue in the way, all this will happen to you while you were here.  Yes he can prepare you to be a citizen of heaven here.

Wobble Foot

Walking along

And reading his Bible,

The Christian bobbled

Off the path.

The rebuke was very

Soft and warm,

Not at all

A word of Wrath.

A gentle kiss

Upon his cheek.

Drawing him back

To the narrow path

Was the One whom

Good men seek.
————-
Just a bobble,

And that’s so true,

By a well intentioned soul.

But let us strain

To watch our feet,

Lest we miss

The greater goal.

No Time for Prayer

I know what men are saying in their hearts, “There is no time for prayer”.  I know this because I have not only heard them say it, but I have said it myself.

But a different season has come upon me, and this by the loving mercy of the Living God.  A time when prayer lengthens.  A time that is not only filled with requests, it is also filled with a lingering.  And it is in this lingering that I begin to understand what I did not know before.

But as to what men say, that there is no time for prayer.  Let me ask a question.  How much time have you spent in your life retracing your steps from things you knew you could have done?

I have heard people say, “There is no time to make a list!  I must go and do what must be done”.  And in their anxious haste, they spend more time trying to remember than it would have taken them to make a list.

That is the life, comparablely to prayer.   Do you believe this yet?  Are you at least willing to try to prove me wrong?
