Turn or False

True humility is not a brand of servitude.  It is a joyful and willing acceptance of one’s place in life, according to ALL that is true. 

Pride is the exact opposite.  Pride thinks it is humble.  But such false humility only weighs itself against a certain compartment of life.  Pride refuses to take into consideration the fullness of what is offered.

Humility receives all and is glad.  Pride rejects all, and sadly keeps what it thinks is his.

But let’s not be mistaken here,  pride seamlessly believes it is humble.  Therefore it is fully incapable of understanding true humility.  It is fully incapable of receiving anything.  Pride will gladly die, in abject poverty of truth.

Yes, I See You

Yes I see you.  And isn’t that what you crave, to be seen.  Yeah, you.  The one with the beard shaped so carefully.  The one with just the right clothing.  The one who thinks that the way he looks and what he owns carves him a large portion.  Yeah. . . I saw you.

You have plans for the old man you will be.  Great boasting of what you were.  And when sickness and health comes near, you will “face it like a man”.

But I also see what you don’t see.  I see a man sniveling and groveling before the Most High God.  Or else I see a man spitting venomous hatred at the living God, because God does not respect the majestic nature of this one who stands before him.  Yeah. . . I see you.

Do you think this only applies to the self aggrandizement of a man?  I see you, the woman who has social etiquette down to an exquisite fine art.  I see the child who has everything he wants, except a desire for patience or obedience.  I see the drunkard who’s proud of his ability to kill himself.  So many who are proud of their mind.  Oh you millions of misguided ungodly folk, yes I see you!

I see you in the here, and I see you in the there.  How is it you only have eyes for today?

Knowledge and Ignorance

Knowledge and ignorance are two tar pits along the way of life.

Knowledge can easily lead to pride, consuming all hope of placement in heaven.

But ignorance stands as an unseen monster, even grasping at the heel of those who love knowledge.

Ignorance is so much more vile because it is so easily remedied, leaves its owner vulnerable to every lie, and bolsters the bravado of pride.

Who can divide between the two, that he may walk the favorable path? 

Only he whose teacher is the Sovereign God in Christ Jesus.

Stunningly Cheap Luxury

I am struck afresh, by the message of the Gospel.  Who is Man, in the fabric of eternity, that God would give us eternal life?  Something so perfectly vast, yet for a simple price; simply believe.

Yet, look at the cost of that price.  The great majority refuses to believe.  It is evidently too high a price to ask.

Again, I come to the conclusion that if God does not reveal faith to us, we cannot have it. 

What does it take to procure faith from God?  Read or hear the Gospel and respond with humility.

What an absolutely surprising cost.  How absolutely surprising to see how few can afford it.

Walls

Every wall divides, that is its singular purpose.  On one side of the wall are those things that are not desired.  On the other side of the wall is the desire of the one who erected the wall.

Your house has walls.  Your heart walls.  The City of God has walls.  Think deeply on this and understanding will bud on the limb of your tree.

But there is another wall that men rarely speak of.  It is created to keep Man distant from the Holiness of the Sovereign God.  My soul sees this clearly, but the limits of Man’s communication perplex my words.  And how should this be astounding?  Even the Lord Jesus questioned as to how he might deliver these truths to Man.  “What is the kingdom of God like?  And to what should I compare it?”

Every man knows the wall I am speaking of.  It is the blackness apparent on a cloudless night.  It is the blackness of our understanding.  Is the blackness of our ability to speak to one another in regard to the great things of the Holy One.  It is the blackness of the will, to obey the Living God’s Holy Son.

This wall is for protection on both sides, for the Living God is not evil as many attribute to his Holy name.  It protects our evil hearts from the condemnation of the Living God.  And to protects the Sovereign purity that is Life from the Living God.

If any man would pass from one side of the wall to the other, the doorway must be shown to him.  This doorway is the Holy Son of the Living God.  You will find the complete description of it written in the Bible.

Now who has understanding?  Who desires eternal life?  Who will bend his will, that God may raise him up?  Who will lower his walls that God may enter?

My God will watch over these words.  Wherever they go, what eyes may read them, the Living God will watch the response.

From their own imagination, they gather to themselves great crowns of righteousness!  Not only do they boast in their own inheritance, but they refuse to honor the One who is Clean.

But go ahead, lap it up America; like a hungry dog at a bowl of milk.  The wrath of God waits patiently.
