Good

Define the word “good”.

Now after you just shot some definition at the word, think about the definition you used.  Did your mind really define the word “good”?

“Good” isn’t subject to fault.

It doesn’t offer itself to personal opinion.

It doesn’t even wonder whether you are right or wrong.

“Good” is absolute, endless, unwavering, pure, exclusive, wise, dutiful, and all the other words we have to describe perfection.

The next time someone asks how you are, try not to respond “good”.  God alone is Good.  At best, we are in reasonably fair condition considering the circumstances.

The Lord told us to season our conversations with salt.  That means understanding what we say, injecting truth without mercy into our tongue, and making sure people understand that there is good truth to be had.  If we don’t display it, who will.

The Darkness of Perversity

25 “To the holy, you show your gracious love,
to the upright, you show yourself upright;
26 to the pure, you show yourself pure,
and to the morally corrupt, you appear to be perverse.” ( Psalm 18, ISV)

The mind and imagination of Man is kept to the limits of the place he lives.  If all he sees is death and corruption, that is all he is capable of perceiving.  Men may call another man holy, but they give that title to the one who achieves the best of Man’s imagination.

True holiness and purity must come from God.  Man is not capable of achieving that level of cleanliness on his own.  And to add to Man’s difficulty, pride stands at the door.  Because of pride, no man is able to receive this testimony from another man.  It is required that God bless the receiver with understanding.

Do not be amazed when so many reject the Gospel.  They cannot receive it unless they humble themselves before the Living God’s Christ.  If the hearer retains his pride, the Gospel will sound perverse.  But if the man has a willing heart, God will confirm the noise to be true.

Keep The Faith and be faithful; let God be who he is.  The only thing God requires of us is that we are not ashamed or fearful to bring the Message to our fellow brothers of flesh.

I met a man who could not overcome sexual immorality.  I told him that victory over such a sin will not come to him except that God gives it.

A year or two later he complained that he was still embroiled in immorality.  He said he had asked God to take it away, but it was still an active part of his life.

I tried to reason with him, that salvation is a mutual work.  God may well grant freedom.  The question is: does the man have the will to retain it?  In the end, the man admitted that Christ Jesus must be a liar.

Consider the verses above.  God’s Holy Word is true.  It is we who are liars.

The Fullness of Christ

It is said in every place, “The Holy Father has given all things into the hands of His Holy Son.”

We read it.  We strive to believe and understand it.  We strive, with all we have to “do” the testimony of it.  But “it” remains beyond our grasp to fully understand that simple statement.

This morning, while I went to that habitual place of reverence to the Lord, He brought to my soul a remarkable understanding.

Now, I’m going to try to relate this using human understandings.  There is no way to relate what is of heaven, in the language of man.  I say this to avoid any possible attacks from some who rightfully strive to defend what is holy and of Christ, their Love.

As to the Glory of Christ Jesus:  If all of heaven were to be utterly destroyed (as if such a thing could happen).  If all of creation were to suddenly perish (yet isn’t that part of the Gospel of Christ?).  Christ Jesus would remain untouched.

The Holy Father has dressed His Holy Son Jesus, in such a manner as to be Sovereign.  What I’m trying to say is that Jesus does not depend on anything in creation, whether of heaven or earth, to secure His standing.  Everything else, absolutely everything else, in heaven and earth relies on Him for “continuing”.  Nothing, and no one else holds any possible equal to the Majesty of Jesus.

He, Jesus, and the Father are ONE.  As God the Father is Sovereign, so it is with the Holy Son.  Grasp this, and your understanding of the Holy One of God changes drastically.   Have it spoken to your soul from the Father Himself, and your entire day just got injected with unshakable strength!

As the understanding covered me this morning, I stood in wonder.  For it came to me dressed in everything I know.  It was not given as if a statement.  I guess man might say it was a revelation from God.  For I struggle so to relate what I perceived.

May God bless you, my beautiful family in Christ, this day.  May He open the volume of Heaven to your holy heart.  May all that His Holy Wisdom desires come upon all His people.  May Christ Jesus dawn in our hearts, that we might hold the strength of testimony due His Holy Name.

May the will of God be done among us all.  For the Glory of His Majestic, Holy, Loving, Patient, Merciful, Just, Righteous, Pure, and Blessed Holy Son!  (In that Jesus has been blessed to be Sovereign, as has always been the Holy Father, it is impossible to exhaust or articulate His Holy Name).

Amen!

Philippians 2: 15

[. . .] “blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”

What does the Apostle Paul mean by this, in his letter to the Philippians?  Is it possible to read into this, “It’s okay to toy with sin, after all there’s grace”?

You gotta be a blithering idiot to read that in there.  I mean no particular offense to blithering idiots.

But I have met some people in the past who say there is no such thing as sin.  and these folks consider themselves Christians. Really?

And I know there are hundreds and thousands of people who think all they have to do is roll back their lust a little bit.  Don’t sin as often, or don’t enjoy it as much as you used to.  Really?

Heaven is not a fast burger joint.  No one will say to you there, “Have it your way”.  What will be expected in heaven is expected now.

Look, just get busy chipping away at your sins.  If you have to be caught doing something get caught trying!   Either way, you will be caught!

Don’t think you’re going to get rid of them for a day, week, month or a year.  Get rid of them for eternity.

If you find something you can’t whoop, take it to God in earnest prayer.  If it doesn’t go away, keep taking it to God in prayer!  Judge for yourself: which is better, to die in your sins, or to die in earnest prayer?

This ain’t no dress rehearsal!

Pure

In the early days of Christianity the word pure did not have the same definition as it does today. Today we might think about pure sugar, pure water, pure chemicals and the like.  These things are edible or usable because they are pure. But we say “pure” from our own perspective.  We who are impure call something better by a word that does not apply to us.

We all die and we will all appear before the Pure God.  Most people are aware of this truth.  But few give the concept the priority it demands.  To clarify what I’m trying to say let me play with a concept for a minute.

Let’s say I had a disintegrator gun and it was set to simply remove impure attributes. You consent (by signing 437 consent forms) and I begin to remove from you the things that are impure.

First the ray works on your clothing for it was made with impure thread.  Then the dirt on your skin is its object, for the dirt is impure.  When it reaches the end of the dirt it find your skin but your skin is not pure, it is removed.  Next your bones and organs until finally all that is left is your soul.  But will the ray stop there?  Sadly no.  Now it goes after lies of every sort.

When the ray is finished we take note of you that you are a micro- scopic speck of existence. That’s all of you that was true.

While I’m finishing up this article someone says “wait”! The scientists who were wielding the gun come running to me.  “Sir I’m sorry we have to admit to an error. The speck of life form we detected is not the person we begin with. Apparently the speck is simply the essence of life.  We have determined that the speck belongs to God.  Sir there is nothing left of the person we begin with”.
