On Seeking God.

I have heard some say they searched for God and found nothing.  I have heard people say they have found God, yet I see no evidence in the way they live their lives.  I have heard people say there is no need to search for God; it is His task to seek us.  In short, we have all heard many versions of this statement.  The following is an observation regarding seeking God.

He says “You will seek me and find me when you seek for me with all your heart.  And I will be found by you”.  The promise is true.  I can testify to that.  So why don’t more people find what they’re looking for?  They seek Him with wrong motives.  He will not honor pride.  So the one who looks for Him as though He was an anomaly won’t find Him.  That one is looking for God as if God were the created one.  That person is still holding himself up as God and taunting God by forgetting who made who.

Some say they have found God, yet there is no apparent difference in the life they live.  These people lie by their actions.  It is possible they can identify what God is.  But that’s as far as they intend to go.  God is not mocked.  A man reaps what he sows.  He who sows to the sinful nature, will reap that crop.  He who sows from the Spirit of God will reap his reward according to God’s will.

He who thinks it is the Creator’s task to find and secure lost souls is missing a great mark.  God knows where you are.  He knows who you are.  He knows what you’ve done.  He knows your attitude.   And He makes the demand that you seek Him.

What Are You Waiting For?

When I had walked the fullness of my ability I found I was no farther than at first.

It was not till He taught me to listen to His voice that I found my steps to move me.

We will not find salvation in the religion of our chosing.

After all, look around you, how many religions can you count?

Where shall a man turn to find the “truth”?

JESUS!  JESUS!  JESUS!

Now that I know what He had in store for me all those decades I wonder.

What was I waiting for?

Here, Eat this Plastic and be Healthy.

Imagine how foolish it would be for God to say to any man, “Follow Me and Keep My Ways”.  Only to turn and walk away, leaving the man to flounder in his own understanding.  Yet isn’t this what most believers in America believe?  Is it true that God left His people as orphans after saving their souls?  We all know that the answer to that question has to be a stern NO.

Who taught you this?  Where is the power in human understanding?  I’m not accusing anyone.   Just pointing out that Jesus does not leave His people to fend for themselves.  And what shall we say of Jesus’ statement to Pilate:  “You can do nothing to me if it were not given to you from above”?  We often look at what we are caused to endure as “just part of the game of life”.  But Hebrews teaches us differently: “Endure hardships as discipline.  God is treating you as sons”.

There is a belief that God’s activity in this world was completed during the times when the Bible was written.  This is to say that all God’s activity in mankind lasted only about 100 years.  I don’t find this to be true.  He is speaking and leading into great things this very minute.  It is possible that we are so busy with the demands of this world that we miss His calling.  Remember the statement: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever”?  If He was willing to announce His Glory through the early Christians, He is willing today to do the same for us.

If I’m wrong, I encourage anyone to prove it.  Sincerely, show me where we are supposed to go about becoming Holy as He is Holy on our own.  What does any man know of Holy?   Wouldn’t this be something like giving our children bubble wrap and telling them that if they eat it they will grow big and strong?

But if I’m right and we do have access to the very voice of God through Jesus.  Then consider the possibilities.  What could a people accomplish when they hear the very voice of God directing them in His Holy Will?  Only, let us be careful not to adopt a religion which has no power.  It is not God’s will that His people remain in darkness.  He is more than willing and able to lead them out.  And I find that as I watch every aspect of every minute, God is working His Great will through, around, and in me.  This should be the case for all who proclaim the love of God in Christ Jesus!

“Watch Over My Soul Lord. . . . . . please…..”

We wake and yawn from a nights helpless sleep.

We prayed the night before our souls that He should keep.

And now we see a future pressed out before our eyes.

Another day has dawned.  Yet much to our surprise.

It is no different than the one before; this day of possibilities.

For we have not changed.  We are the same; a mess of liabilities.

We trust You Lord, our lips were heard to say.

“Can I trust You” the answer comes, “With holiness this day?”

How shocked we’ll be when His Dawn fully comes.

That we wasted so much time.

We traded dirt for gold and dross for coins

Yet He remains sublime.

By His Grace.
