Useful Agility

Let’s suppose a man who knows absolutely nothing about mathematics. Let’s give him two apples. Now he knows that he has more than one. There’s an apple in each hand.

Let’s give him one more apple. Now he knows he has more apples then his two hands can hold. Tell him he has three apples. See how he has learned something about mathematics.

I know. That’s a really stupid scenario. But isn’t it true that the more the man learns the more useful he will become?

But how many people think they are righteous yet can’t seem to do the simplest righteous task? Consistent righteous behavior seems to run away from them like it’s afraid. While they should be adding to their agility in righteousness every day, they can’t maintain a single one.

To make yourself agile in mathematics refer to a textbook. To understand the nature of righteousness read the Bible.

Do you hear what I hear?

“When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart.”

Do you hear what I hear?

What good is our profit 

When the cross is in sight;


When he strained so hard 

That glorious night?


Let his body be covered 

With bleeding sweat.  


Father’s will to be done!

And yet.


The pageantry of Christmas.  

Some shiny toy, a new dress.  


Does this keep warm 

The Word of God?


Does this help the message

Be cast abroad?


Or is it something deep within;

Someplace that’s hidden

From our sin.

The silver and gold 

He desires so

Cannot be carried 

By feet.

Believe! Believe!

Deep down in your soul.  


Let the seed of Word

Have a place.  


“Come in, come in.  

Come out of the cold.  


Let me taste 

The meaning of gold.”

Too Much, Too Many

Look how much has been written about the glory of God and Christ.   A 30 some year display of pure obedience and love for his Father.   Just 30 some years out of the history of Man.

The great abundance of Man’s history is filled with rebelion and chaos.  If the accusations God has against Man were to be written in books, how many volumes with that be?   But for the Lord Jesus, the volumes of accusations against me might easily well up to over 3000 books.

But look how great the wisdom of God is, he wrote all that is necessary in one single book, an amazing book of tragedy and release.

Useless Revisions

Why does the following slice of logic escape the mind of the “wise”?

You make revisions to the laws of God, and you pat yourself on the back for accomplishing such a grand victory.  But you fail to take notice that the law you have revised is only a copy of the original.

The original law of God remains in heaven and eternity, far beyond the reach of an eraser and pencil.  Tell me then, what is the substance of your so called victories?

Holy suffering

Eternal life
Pure judgment
Justice
Restraint
Holy speech
Propriety
Godly love
Patience
Endurance

Here’s the sad part:
It is impossible for Man to be empty.  If he is not filled with God, he will be filled with everything that is not God.  If we give the Living God’s Christ no place among us, the ambassadors of death move in.

Look around.  Do yourself a favor.  Ask what day it is.
