God Born Habits Rescue From Dereliction

I was just thinking of the things that the Lord Jesus has taught me over the years.  Above all other lessons, the lesson of creating habits has been the most useful.

He has caused me to make a habit of doing the things that don’t normally need to be done.  So that when they do need to be done, they are just a natural extension of my normal day.

By this he has also taught me to notice when things are not right.  If I go about my tasks in a habitual manner I notice when a piece of it is missing.

By this he has taught me to be a somewhat righteous worker.  I mean, the habits he has taught me to employ, are the habits I am told I must use by those who pay my wage.  I make less mistakes.  I don’t cut corners.  And by the habits, I generally make a good use of time.

You may think that man can learn this by himself.  Perhaps.  But that is not the general rule is it?  And why would anyone think that?  Are they trying to avoid a relationship with the living God?  Likely.

There is so much more to say about how the Lord Jesus has rescued me from folly and the insanity of dereliction.  But if a man will approach him, and ask to be taught the things that matter.  The Lord will show him these things.

If you too could have these, why would you not ask him?

By His Grace

“Nain”, the Pleasant Land

You think you are dead.  You look back with horror at the things you have done.  You take stock of the sum of your life, and find no beauty in it.

You are rightly afraid of the sin you have loved so much.  It will indeed consume you, even unto the second death.  But I tell you there is hope.

There is one approaching this land of what men call pleasant.  In your recognition of failure you are the dead and only son of a widow.

The life of men is like a wife whose husband is dead.  They are widows of righteousness; helpless to provide for themselves.  The mercy of God is hidden from them, for they have loved all things that are not God’s.

He has compassion on her, as she cries with unquenchable tears.  Let Him come close.  Let Him touch the coffin of your folly.  He will speek to you, “Child of demise, I say to you, awake.”

You will wake and be revived.  Not by your own strength, but by the will of God to be compassionate.  And you will not wake to return to a life of demise.  You will be purchased for the sake of life eternal.

Does your hollow heart think these words are useless dribble?  Do the tears you cry cloud these words to obscurity?

Read for yourself the compassion of God in Christ Jesus His Holy Son.  You will find the story in Luke chapter 7 verses 11 through 17.

I testify to you as one who was dead.  I tell you these things are true because I now live.

I was once like you; lost in horror at the sum of my life; dead to hope.  I now live in comparatively blazing difference.  All of this because the Lord had mercy on a dead man.

The hope I have is living and active.  It is impossible for God to lie.  I have received his promise and it does not disappoint.

Call out to him with what belief you can render.  Reach deep inside, and continue to call out with what strength you can find.  In due time, according to his excellent wisdom, he will lift you up.  Only dare to believe.

Serving a King

I remember when I first came to the Lord.  I was told to revere Jesus as a King.  I said to myself, then to Him, “I do not know how to serve a king.  I have been raised a free man.  And I have no respect for the ways of those in leadership in this country.  How can I know to serve you as King?”

His reply to me has taken decades.  I am beginning to understand the concept of King.  I believe the full understanding will have to wait till heaven.  But there are two things that are worth saying in regard to this.

1.  I have heard many use affectionate names in public for the Lord Jesus and God the Father.  Names such as daddy, papa and so on.  They use names of familiarity.  But what about the holy Lord is familiar to us?

What a man does between he and God in private is of no consequence to me.  But the words he uses to describe what is holy in public is a reflection of his understanding.  And every time we use such names we give our understanding to others.

It is not my job to judge the relationship of a man to the Holy Lord God Almighty and his Holy Son.  But I have found some men of this nature in great error.

How we refer to the “Great I am” says a lot about what we believe.  One such man did not believe that holiness was even possible in the flesh, let alone a command from the Holy Lord.  He openly used the word “papa” to describe his God.  And the doctrines he promoted were of the flesh.

What will be his end is not for me to determine.  But his view of God was obscured by wicked desire.  As quickly as was reasonable I abandoned his company.  We are not to entertain the doctrines of demons.

2. God is Holy.  What He has given us is for our reference.  To Moses he identified himself as “I am that I am”.  And Jesus said, “You call me Lord and rightly so.”  How should we presume to bring his holy name down to our level?  It is we who should rise toward Him.

Yet how shall we who are full of darkness understand what is Holy?  The Lord will teach us over time.  The longer I serve Him the more I understand, and so it will be for all who serve Him in the holy faith.

Such men, as the first, put a stumbling block before those who are learning.  But if a man will continue in the way of God he will be taught what is good and true.

In weakness and lack of understanding we are tiny and hopelessly tossed about by every breeze of teaching that comes along.  But the Lord knows your state of affairs.

Read the Bible that you may know what is true and correct.  Then do the things it says.  Both of these will help you discern what is right and true and holy.  And the Holy Spirit of Jesus will teach you what is Holy.

Do not accept every man who speaks the name of Jesus.  Test the spirits.  Bring your lack to the Lord.  He is ever willing and able to guide you into what is true.  Only be diligent in your desire to understand.

We serve the Lord through the darkness of faith.  But in this faith we have more light in us then does the world or those who pervert the way.  Do not fear.  If you put your faith in the living God he will direct you to the holy path.

Millions have fallen away because of a lack of understanding.  They did not trust.  Therefore they did not receive.  This will not be so of those who apply themselves with great diligence.

Men study for years to become proficient in their trade which earns them money.  How long then is it right to persevere that we may gain a place in heaven?  Renew your efforts.  Give God more importance in your heart.

If destruction is our natural reward, how hard should we struggle against it?  And if we fall away for a simple lack of knowledge, how shall we propose to stand on the holy day of the Lord?

What more can be said?  With what may a man convince the weak?  How can I strengthen you?  I have said enough.

Our holy cup of offering

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

A man who loved the Lord took his best cup off the shelf.  He went about his kitchen gathering the best ingredients for a tasty drink.  When the mixture was perfect he set it on the table and waited for his guest.

At the appointed hour his guest arrived.  When he walked through the door the man bowed to his face and greeted the Lord Jesus.  “I have waited for you, Oh Holy One.  Welcome to my house.  I have prepared I drink for you that you may quench your thirst and have what is rightfully yours.  Please come and sit, that we may converse.”

The Lord responded with a smile and went to the table to sit.  He reached out to the glass to receive what his servant had made.  But as it neared his lips the smell of sour and putrid struck his nose.  He gave the man a glance with his holy eyes.  Without a word he stood from the table and left.

The man had given what he thought was best.  But in his corrupted mind he had created a concoction of wicked ingredient.  He could not please the Lord for he did not know what pleased the Lord.

If we are to love the Lord with all that we are, let us be sure we understand who the Lord is.
