Evidence of Belonging

How should we spend our days?  Doesn’t it depend on whose you intend to be.

Let’s make a choice with finality.  Either Christianity is a mere religion, or it is the power of God to transform.  Either the words of God are benign “good sayings”, or they are filled with Holy Fire.  The life we lead proves the choice we’ve made.

Heaven rages with eternal love toward Man.  Blazing with holy duty, all of Heaven is busy in the preparing of the sons of God.  Construction of the age to come includes the preparation of those who will inhabit it.

Those who join in this holy frenzy will enter beyond this place with little change in their character.  Having a allowed God to create within them, they are fast becoming a welcome addition to the throne of Christ Jesus.

Such people have no room for trivia.  Such people do not hide in the shadows.  Though they are compelled to use the things of this world, they do not rise every morning to satiate the desires of the flesh.  Like sunflowers, they seek the will of the Living God to grow within them; always tracing the Son across every day’s sky.

On rising they call out to His Holy name in Jesus.  Without thought, the eyes of their soul look to him in every decision they make.  They will be welcome, for the work of God within them provides what is required.

Give thought to this.  Eternity is now.  Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for He who is Righteous, for they shall be filled!

Describing Desire

What kind of burning desire emboldens the Christian?  It would not be right to say, they think of themselves as righteous folks; as if they look down their nose on those who do not believe.  Rather, they burn with a desire to share.

But what words might be used to describe this consuming desire?  If we speak of the enticement of eternal life, we would miss the mark.  To speak of the clean conscience born by the forgiveness of Christ, is fully insufficient.  And to say that they love God, is to make a mockery of the love of God.  For a love toward God, as seen in the Christian, is easily shown as less than full.

So perplexity attends the building of this article.  Because the consuming fire within my heart is more than all these things put together.  The fire is Christ Jesus himself.

In this place of testing, man will lack any ability to describe the Majesty that is Christ.  The best any Christian can do, is to allow the Lord to display himself (By this I mean we simply agree with the Lord).  And in this we recognize what was told the Apostle Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you”.

By command of Eternity, the Gospel has been handed to men.  Even so, in this it finds restraint.

But now perceive what God has done.  When he enclosed his Majesty in restraint, he intensified desire near to the point of explosion.

It is as if one closes the door on the oven.  When it is open, the intensity of heat is lessened.  But close the door and you can melt metal.  All this he has done in the frailty of a human life.

Today, this is as close as I can come to describing the desire of a Christian to preach the word to all men.  If you would know more fully about these things, dedicate yourself to things of Christ.

Eusebius of Cesaria

Why do men look so diligently to discredit those who write for Christ?  It is as if we look for fault before we look for Life.

I know there are wolves among us.  But is it right to treat every brother in Christ as if he is a wolf, before we embrace him as a sheep?

Can we trust the Living God in Christ Jesus to show us plainly and quickly the value of a man?  Or must we rely on man’s opinion which is full of violence and obscured by doubt?

The fruit of a man’s doing must be the proof of his heart’s allegiance.   Perhaps his words will be faulty, yet his actions may display integrity.  But look how we attack him because of his words.

I agree that words may be all we have to determine a man’s allegiance.  But let us take stock of what rules in us first.  Is our first strength mercy or is it a violent behavior?  The latter thins our ranks.  The former gives place to learning.

I write this because I see that there are those who diligently try to discredit Eusebius of Caesarea .  I would guess they pursue their desire with great abandon.

But a question comes to mind.  Were those who are diligently desiring to distrust his writings, there among the people when he wrote his work?  Why not believe the man’s word?  Why not believe the power of God to save, and the love of his holy people to endure great torment?

You people view things from this perspective; a time of relative peace and plenty on your table.  But as you inspect a man’s work, you conveniently discharge a truth; it could just as easily have been you who lived in his time.  It could just as easily have been you whose writings are now under violent scrutiny.  And make no mistake, there will be people who will scrutinize your own work with violent intent.

We are but men.  But Christ is God.  Do we dare waste our time discrediting the foundation of our faith, while there are so many souls who are abandoned to eternal death?  Is that a profitable use of our very short days?

What Does Jesus Do?

Jesus will forgive your sins.  How would it feel to have a clean conscience for a change? Will others understand?  No, but you will.

He will teach you to listen.  If you let him, he will teach you how to obey his Heavenly Father.  Even if you are full of rebellion and are difficult to teach, he will provoke you to obedience.  If only you will continue to call on him.

He will teach you of the eternal way.  What men say is good, changes from hour to hour.  He will teach you what lasts forever.

One thing at a time, you will overcome difficulties in your life that you did not even know you had.  Then as the appearance of maturity arrives, you and He will do a significant work to obliterate rebellion.

In the process of becoming a man of God you will develop peace.  With a clean conscience, and proof in your soul that God has accepted you, you will find you have no fear.  And the longer you walk with Him as your Lord, the deeper that peace will penetrate.

You will find yourself teaching others.  Not because someone told you you have to go out and evangelize, but because you simply can’t keep your mouth shut.  And you will not only tell them the words, but you will act them out in the their presence.

In time you will come to know you have eternal life.  You will not just believe the words that you were told, you will know, with clarity, those words are true, and that they belong to you.

Because he is always reliable, you will find yourself looking to him for every possible solution to every possible problem.  It won’t be a matter of discipline to go to prayer.  You will find you never leave it.

What does jesus do?  He will create such a change in you, that you will not be any resemblance to what you were.  And if you continue in the way, all this will happen to you while you were here.  Yes he can prepare you to be a citizen of heaven here.

Toward Easter

Much to my surprise, evidently there is conflict over which day of the week Jesus was crucified.  Ok fine.  But the day does not matter as much as what God has done.

Those who should have known him.  Those who should have been able to embrace him.  These became the instrument of His glory.

It is not ours to hold it against them.  I have often been reminded that men will do what they do.

But as it was true and Joseph’s words, so it is true in Christ.  It was meant for evil, but God has used it for good.

Evangelism

The day I was born, the day I graduated high school, the days I spent drunk as a youth, the day I accepted Christ Jesus, and every other significant day of my life.

On the days I thought important things happened to me, millions of others experienced their own significant occurrences.  Not a single one of them saw the days I saw.  Yet time moved forward for us all.  The calendar chimed in unison.  But the entirety of humanity saw a richly variegated symphony of experiences.

There is one significant occurrence that should happen to all men.  Every man should be able to say he has accepted Christ Jesus as his Lord.  This is the only common thread we can share for eternity.  How that comes to be is also a richly variegated symphony of experiences.

Now I try to preach about Jesus everywhere I go.  But as I think of the differences with which we all encounter each day, I am struck to remember to let the Lord Jesus speak on his own behalf.

Who could possibly imagine a single canned gospel delivery for every man?  Each delivery must be tailor-made for the ears that hear it.  What man can possibly do that?

If you plan beforehand what you will say as you testify about Christ, the chances of profitable delivery are significantly diminished.  Bottom line, if we don’t let the Holy Spirit do the will of Christ Jesus in us, we restrict the ears of those who might hear.

Though I cannot condemn the use of gospel tracts, or what is called the Roman Road, it is not wise to dictate what God will say.  Those can only be useful examples.

All the same I suppose it is better to testify than to keep your mouth shut.  Yet to give free rein to God’s lordship over our testimony is best.

I understand how organized testimonies can help those with a weak faith.  But even as the child grows adept at adult things, I think it is quite possible to overcome fear of delivery.

I have no idea who may benefit from this message.  But I know that the Spirit of God does not dress us in timidity or fear.  True belief in the power of God within us ought to be visible in a boldness, and Godly wisdom.

While it is true that each of us stands before Christ on our own, it is also true that our opportunity to testify to any one man, may be the slightest of opportunity.  And so we are encouraged to make the most of the situation.

Who can say how God will lead them in any one place.  But let us try to lay aside prepared commercials for the Holy Lord’s testimony.
