“Places Everyone!”

Man is placed in a place remote.  For if his place were among the things of God, Man would try to dethrone Him.

This place of testing, this place of proving, this place of violence or love.

This place of choices, this place of life or death, this place of time and decay.

This place of anarchy, this place of treason, this place of hatred or faith.

They refuse to listen.  They despise the one who speaks.  And at every possible convenience, they turn away from knowledge.

This place of filthy, this place of ludicrous, this place of blood and flesh.

This place of confusion, this place of pride, this place of accomplishment and humiliation.

Lest every man be utterly destroyed, God has set a place for rebellion.

This place of wondering, this hopelessness, place of vile distrust, this place of alienation and rare embrace.

Two doors exit this place.  One is wide to accommodate the masses.  The other is so narrow you cannot point it out.

One is proportioned for the violent fits which company the chaos of rebellion.  The other is only large enough for the soul.

We must all leave this place.  But we do not all arrive in the same Place.

Every man who owns rebellion alone, will certainly find himself alone.

But every man who has been stripped of rebellion, to a sort, that which remains cannot die.  Lessened, such men will find good company.

In all things, the endlessly spacious Place of God is utterly unlike ours.

Moment by moment, every man chooses his destiny.  But let us not think that the destiny of man is varied in context.  No!  There is either eternal inclusion, or eternal desperation.

Debate all these things, Oh wandering souls of men.  Or kneel before the Living God in faith.  Plead with him for understanding.

All that belongs to Man is death.  All that belongs to God is Life in Christ Jesus His holy and Righteous Son.

Profound Reigndrops

Like droplets of pure water,
The Truth of God rains down.

But splashing into the sea of men,
It barely makes a sound.

The roar pleasure and swirl of chaos,
Subdue it all around.

And if it rained a torrent
What would be the effect?

Would not the sea increase its height,
Its rebellion barely checked.

But from where did the ocean get its birth,
That “Salty Brine” that is its girth?

Was it not from the torrent that God set out,
To display his Glory, all round about.

But so it is and will not change;
The direction of droplets men rearrange;

To send their desire, consuming God,
Perverting their nature with all that is odd.

The Traitor

The commander came to the captain.  “There is a traitor in your ranks.”  The captain felt the shock within his bones.  How could integrity remain when a spy had been among them?

“Who is it?” The captain asked in a whisper, for he did not even know if the traitor had accompanied him into the conversation with his commander.

“He is very close to you.  He is privy to all your intelligence.  He even listens hard when you think you are alone.  He is dressed perfectly as one of you.  And though he is among your ranks you would not recognize him if I were to point him out.”

The captain was astonished at these words.  “Then what shall we do sir?  We cannot disband all my men for the sake of this evil man.”

Now the commander said something even more unexpected.  “I cannot advise you regarding what to do.  I can only warn you that he is there.  And that you are hopelessly blinded to his presence.”

The captain was now frightened for the sake of his charge and integrity before his commander.  “How can I hope to serve you with this man among my ranks?  Without your help I will surely become a liability on the battle field!  Why won’t you help me identify and discharge this man?”

“I cannot help you captain.  For the traitor is your pride of position.  You are blinded by his presence, though your men all know when he steps in front of you.  I tell you about it because it is causing troubles in our army.  But what can I do to help you in this?”

How shall be pride be dealt with?  It is an animal within us.  And when he appears our eyes are covered.  We do not know where he comes from nor when he appears.  I have asked the Lord regarding this.  “How shall this be dealt with?  How shall we find victory over what we cannot perceive?”

By the words of man I present the answer.  “The food of pride is praise.  As often as we seek it we feed our enemy.  If we wish to starve our enemy to death, stop seeking praise.  This is the reason we are warned to flee from he who compliments us.  Such men are called flatterers.  Though we intend to starve our enemy (even the enemy of God among us), the flatterers will offer food for their friend.”
