The Value of One

What is the value of one man?

With clamoring, Man elevates all his unholy “strength”.

One man can corrupt millions.

And so, ungodliness prospers like violent weeds.

But what is the value of one servant of Christ?

I consider Stephen, the celebrated first martyr in Christ.

He was not one of the 12.

There is no miracle attached to his witness.

Yet see how God used him with excellent power of revelation.

In the midst of worthless power, Stephen testified with revealed Glory.

What is the value of one man of God?

How the kingdom of lies was shaken and stirred to violence,

When God moved within the soul of that one man.

Let us not consider that a mass of men must rise in order that the Gospel might become a prominent power among men.  But let us remember the Promise of God.  “For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said, ‘In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength.'” (Isaiah 30: 15)  Does the Holy Fire of God seek a place of venting among men?  As lava seeks the place of release, does the Holy Will of God seek a man to “do”?  And what shall be said when the Will of God finds that soul who “will”?

With confidence, the man of God lives out his days.  He knows the Living God’s Holy Son.  He is not restrained by terror.  He speaks with authority, for from Authority he is taught.  He joyfully does the Living Will of the Living God.  With a whisper he quiets the clamor of Man.  With the Holy Wisdom of God, he dispels the lies in which men trust so violently.

What is the value of one man?  What is the power of that man’s prayer?  How brilliant does that one shine before the Holy Throne of the Living God?  How willing is God to teach he who is willing to hear?  How sharp is the eye of the one who desires to see?  How powerfully is God willing to act when He finds one man willing to be used?

“For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance.”  (Matthew 13: 12)

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”  (Matthew 10: 10)

What is the value of ONE MAN?

In the Shelter of his Wing

I wake up before dawn and look out my window at a light dusting of snow.  Out pops a little bird, hopping about in the snowflakes.

Then I wonder, “Where have you slept little one?  Did you sleep among the reeds in the ditch?  Did you forsake the tree limb for the shelter of the reeds?

You would have not perched yourself too deeply within them.  You would have slept in a place where two hops allowed your wings to spread.  You would be no food for the predator.”

And then I wonder.  Where did I sleep?  I slept peacefully under the outstretched wing of the Most High God.  I woke to His Glorious covering.  Lacking fear, I woke only to stretch my bones, and then to pray; even as the little bird sings his song of joy.

Is this how Jesus slept in the boat while the storm raged around him?  Is this how Daniel slept with the Lions, for the weariness of their bodies?  Is this how the Apostle Peter slept so soundly in the jail amidst the soldiers?  Is this how the Prophet Elijah slept alongside the Kerith Ravine, knowing the wings of a bird would feed him in the morning?

Oh how desire rages within this servant to instill these things in my fellow man!  Will you please consider the power of God to sustain your tired soul.  His name is Christ Jesus, the Son of God and the Son of Man.

Three Days

I track the days.  I track three days; yesterday, today and tomorrow.

My Lord Jesus also tracks these days for me.  For he himself has walked under the rising and falling of the Sun and Moon.

But the Lord also keeps track of millenia; that which is yesterday, today and forever.

Can I trust him?  You be the judge.

Not Alone!

O People of the Holy Spirit, know that you are not alone.  I repeat, you are not alone.

For as surely as you have bent your knees before the Holy Living God’s Holy Son, so have a great number of others.  We have all approached the Holy Source of Living Life.  And He, in His Great Mercy, has granted what is Holy and Good to many.  No, we are not alone.

Speak of the Beautiful things you have received, with faithful abandon, speak.  You may or may not receive an echo of your words.  But remain full of trust, you are not alone.

We know He has not abandoned us.  For we have prayed and risen full of truth.  As we will be one, on that Holy Day, so we are one today.  We are not alone.  And we are able to agree in these Holy Promises together as one.

Let us allow our hearts to be full of strength in these things.  Let us not fear in any way.  Let the Promises of the Living God’s Holy Christ fill us with confidence.  Let our legs receive the strength of eternity.  It is His Holy will that His people should stand with great and unquenchable strength.

Faithful Perceptions

So many things to touch and see.

So many things lay out of reach.

The fingers of men will grasp and twist.

But they can never touch what’s His.

Why do you fear, O little flock?

Do you fear the hands of men?

Where are your treasures laid up in stock?

On earth or bound in heaven?

HOPE!

Do you want hope that cannot be crushed?  Then allow yourself to believe the following words of Christ.

Though these words were not spoken to the disciples at the outset of Christ’s ministry, still they are indelible truth.  As we travel with Christ, toward Christian maturity, the beauty of these words shines brighter, even to the magnificence of Christ himself.

“If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.

25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14)
