Mastery

A Master of martial arts has not mastered punching or kicking. It is not that he has mastered self control. What he has mastered is the art of practice.

He has set his mind to pay attention to everything he thinks and does. In this mastery of awareness, the master practices immediate restraint. If there is any lapse in judgment or action, the master quickly brings it back under control.

Mastery of martial arts does not apply only to battle. It applies to absolutely everything under his control. He takes great care of his “world“.

We speak of doctors as practicing medicine. They are thoroughly embroiled in their work, whether they are on duty or off. We speak of jobs as professions. Consider that if we profess something is true, it would be best if such things are true. The master of any profession then has mastered the art of restraint for the sake of what he says He does for a living.

A professional driver, a professional lawyer, a professional labor, a professional teacher, a professional politician, a professional human being, a professional Christian.

Just a Quirk?

They called a change in wind direction “a quirk of nature”. How many times have the enemies of Israel said the same thing? Those who despise Israel’s birthright never seem to learn.

Your “quirk of nature” is the Living God.

The direction of the wind not only thwarted the kites, but also blew copious amounts of Israeli tear gas and smoke from the burning tires toward the protesters, chasing many away.

Serve Self?

Let common sense rule.

Every servant serves a master. He who serves himself is no servant at all. Doesn’t he make himself his own domain; King and the subjects over which he rules. Can anyone say “folly”? And no servant is allowed to serve two masters, such a man will not serve either one with integrity.

We are servants to the one we obey. Fidelity is the target. Either a man serves chaos or seeks, with all he has, to serve purity.

Consider the Robin

In the quietness before dawn, the Robin wakes to consider. Rested, healthy, feathers to preen, hunger to notice, thus a hunt to enjoy.

Following his musings (taking stock of who he is):

Publicly, loudly, shamelessly, he gives thanks to God before the hunt begins. The open window has been our seat midst the symphony.

He cannot hide his heritage. Never does he consider the miracle of flight. He is a Robin.

Can the Christian hide his heritage?

Does the Christian consider the miracle of belief?

Can the Christian desire that he were not a Christian?

Remember the Robin before he is gone for the season. He has been a faithful and radiant display of how Man should treat his own place and the God who made him.

Remember the Robin while he is gone, that faithfulness may attend your winter days. When HE returns will he find you having been faithful?

Consider, the Robin cannot be an Aardvark.

Beyond Us

We all know that it is easy to sing praise to God when the good things are in our hands. Blessed is he who sings when his hands are full of trouble. For such is a kin to Christ as he bowed to sweat blood drops in the garden.

Wealth has its own reward, but faith in The Promise of HE WHO IS exceeds the vocabulary of Man.

Practice

John 3:21 mentions those who “practice“ the truth. In our vocabulary practicing means pretty much taking a stab at something. “Well I hope this works out.” But there are quite a few different meanings to the word practice that are worth examining. Let the readers decide for themselves which words best reflect God‘s intention. The numbers after each word or how many times they occur in the Bible.
