From Not to IS.

GLORIOUS COLORS

Ah, the wild imagination of man without God.  That he calls what IS as though it were not.

Ah, the Glorious strength of God.  That He calls what is not as though it IS.

Bend the knee and worship He who redeems the wicked!

Good Morning My Son.

tiny bird believes in values you believe in

As I wrote this morning, a little bird hopped through the door.  Afraid that it would come in too far and get in trouble by the windows as it came to understand its misstep, I whispered “hey, you don’t want to be in here”.  With one hop, my little friend left.  What a beautiful way for the Lord to say “Good morning my son.”

Testimony Born of Trials.

John Bunyan's Tomb

In a cell Pilgrim’s Progress was born.  And long after the penman’s body had turned to dust, the “scholars” of this world began to recognize the value of this chain birthed word of the Lord.  Since then, the work of God has found its home in the hearts of millions.

Has God placed you in a certain place of personalized suffering?  Do you own words of understanding born of stripes?  Speak with the wisdom of God.  Testify to His Glory.

Pop a Pimple.

Pondering the possibilities for me, regarding the will of God for the remainder of my life, I fell upon something beautiful:

I spoke with a man who decidedly hates the word of God.  He suggested that it’s only fair that I entertain the writings of those who would tear at the Faith of God in Christ Jesus.  Without reservation, my response was that I am not interested in “fair” when it comes to dedication to my Lord.  I am singularly interested in His truth.  I have no need for the trash of man.  Such garbage is not for the godly to consume.  And such writings are mere speculation driven by a hatred for God and His people.

The beauty is that God has caused me to desire Him!  Every day, every moment, my sin is before me.  And every day, every moment, the Holiness of the Lord Jesus surrounds me.  What a beautiful pain to endure.  And so it is with all His people.  May it never cease in this place of testing.  May it grow to an uncomfortable level, forcing me to move from sin and into holiness!  And may the Lord of Life find pleasure in His creation.  May He provoke His people from glory to glory, that His Word will find fulfilment as the Transformer of death to Life.

As we might pop a pimple by the use of force from two fingers, may God force sin from our lives.

Listen With Ears Everywhere.

I, ElC, chipfolding the ears of a small, somehow!

Image via Wikipedia

A man who desires to hear the good of God through Christ will listen with all his ears.  Though the body of man is adapted with only two ears, the Lord’s wisdom requires far more.  Much like the creatures of Revelation chapter 4: “8And the four living creatures, each one of them
having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say,

“HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is THE LORD
GOD, THE ALMIGHTY,
WHO WAS AND WHO IS AND WHO IS TO COME.”

We listen to the activity of ourselves and others.  We listen to the lives of animals.  We listen to our dreams, in which we search for truthful meaning.  We listen to the works of man such as he has applied his hand to build.  We listen to time, past, present and promise.  And we listen to who we find ourselves to be.

1. What are we doing?

2. Are the animals at rest while they do the day’s work?

3. Is there any importance, at all, to the dream I had last night?

4. What wonderful truth can we hear from a building, road, airplane, fence, and other such things?

5. Is the noise which can be heard by history, now, and yet speaking a truth for the current moment?

6. What noises do I hear from the man I’ve come to be?

The Word of God found in the Bible is valuable beyond our understanding.  But we are also given senses which enable our “listening”.   “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27)

We reject the simplistic view that God can be found in nature alone.  For He has given us a Holy word for guidance.  We are able to read.  And if we’re not able to read, we know someone who can.  But the combination of all creation and the Holy Word of God can enable us to listen with all our being.

Can a Stick be Guilty of a Beating?

stick stick stick stick stick stick stick stic...

I often (understatement) point to the faults of men.  But I will allow for a few things:

Even a violent man can live at peace with a few things.  He usually doesn’t abuse his drink.  He’ll coddle a glass till it’s gone.  But he might just as likely throw the glass against the floor when the drink is gone.  A corrupt politician will take care of his money.  He will take care of it like a sow bear guarding it’s cubs.  A mother might take good care of her children.  But without the rule of God in her life, she will allow her children to watch television all day long (except when the gossip programs come on).  A husband might well take care of his wife, which was his pledge at their wedding.  But without the rule of God in his life, he’s just as likely to gawk at other women as they pass by.

With the rule of God in our lives, we learn (emphasis on “learn”) to continue our obedience out into the remotest reaches of our life.  We listen to what the Lord says and strive to apply it to everything we are.  There is a significant difference between socially acceptable behavior and Godly behavior.  And this is what you will find posted in my writings.

Yes, I am learning to hate the “ways of the world”.  And I ask for forgiveness when I slip into considering the individual rather than the sin.  It is sometimes extremely hard to tell where one starts and the other leaves off.  And if a man is beating me with a stick, I’m not likely to blame the stick.
