Stiff Necked Children

You ask. You suggest. You try to reason. No success. But the matter is urgent and learning is not up for debate.

The mind is not willing. The heart is not open to correction. The child has decided to disobey.

So out of kindness, you decide to push the back of his head to make him move (any obedience is better than none). He hardens his neck against your hand, pushing his body against your will.

For the moment, he becomes a stiff necked child.

I admit to the Lord that I am useless without his will in my heart. I ask for his leadership. Then, when a moment comes to do what is right I choose my own direction. Without saying a word I become a stiff necked child.

What is the meaning of Grace?

Stay with apathy. Stay with superstition. Stay with your own brand of religious ideals. Laugh at what is Holy. Mock sincerity. Consider godly righteousness as a myth. Leave the Bible in the room of “ignoring”. Be critical of those who try to obey. Receive gossip about Christians and pass it on with a joyous mouth.

What does stiff necked mean?

Who are we that God should even care about us, a stiff necked brood of snakes? Yet he suffered among us the most brutal life and death to redeem us as his.

Give the gospel another opportunity.

Dreamers

They gave themselves to the reading of the word and to prayer. The result?

Thousands were saved in Christ. The power of God moved among the people with unprecedented strength. A Legacy was built for billions.

We have one life to live. What will be said of us when we are ushered into his holy kingdom?

“One good deed is more worth than a thousand brilliant theories. Let us not wait for large opportunities, or for a different kind of work, but do just the things we ‘find to do’ day by day. We have no other time in which to live. The past is gone; the future has not arrived; we never shall have any time but time present. Then do not wait until your experience has ripened into maturity before you attempt to serve God. Endeavour now to bring forth fruit.” (Charles Spurgeon)

Dare not just dream. Become. The thief does not steal your life. He steals your seconds.

Golden Silence?

Every day more babies are born. Every day more children come of age to understand the complicated things of life. Every day adults are faced with their own unrighteous inadequacy before God. Every day there are people who have struggled to grasp the gospel and are losing their faith little by little because no one comes along to encourage them. Every day senior citizens reach the precipice of death, never having understood the gospel of Christ. Every day dirt covers the body of errant souls who have gone to the judgment without any shield. Considering all that, when is it OK for a Christian to stop speaking about their life in Christ?

Isn’t it a little bit like secretly nibbling from your vast resource of food in a famine struck land? While the others waste away from malnutrition you appear to be a miracle among them. All the while, the Christian knows the secret of life.

The really sad thing is that simple fear of embarrassment is what is causing so much death. If we yearn to be like Christ let us remember this: he did not fail to open his mouth.

Finality

Every stitch. Every form of embroidering. Every shape that ever was. Knitting beyond your wildest dreams.

A net is made; of finest silk, strongest metal, threads of burning sulfur. Woven together with every shape, every texture, and every possible mixture of elements. Produced with purpose, to capture all that is.

Faithful servants take their place, singular in purpose, perfectly prepared in faithfulness, with endless strength to the task. With piercing eyes of readiness, they look and wait for His command.

“Through space and time,

From galaxies to dust,

Sweep your net!

Gather My souls.

Not a single one left behind.”

From edge to edge.

From beyond to the near.

Sifting out all

That they hold dear.

Bring them to the place prepared.

The living and the dead.

Darkness is no more.

To the “Valley of Decision they bore.

Some to live,

But most to die.

From the “Place of Testing,

He will purify!

What was, what is, what ever will be.

The Son will rise

To His rightful place.

Erasing His enemy,

Establishing Peace.

Prepare! Prepare! Prepare!

O’ Man, be aware.

The Net is about to sweep!

Man’s Futile Judgments

There are many who do not know. They have not been able to consider: That the wrath of God is not at all like the wrath of a man.

Man’s wrath, in my mind, is like the senseless blood thirst of a pack of dogs against a helpless prey. Man perceives some offense, in varying degrees of severity. He lashes out with some makeshift judgment. As if he can rid eternity of this perceived offense. “I will destroy you until even God agrees you never lived.”

Sad upon sad, that Man attributes this vile sense of equity to the wrath of God.

I mean no harm to anyone by bringing this up. But I mean to bring glory to The Righteous Living God in Christ. I mean to open the eyes of my brothers of flesh.

Man is born in futility. All man’s doings are nothing more than futility. His judgments are shortsighted, his desire for peace – mired in a tar pit. If he kills a man, he presumes to have simply ended and irritating matter. Perceived righteous judgment turned violent.

But consider the wisdom of God’s wrath, vengeance, “striking out” (if you will). If He does away with a man’s life here on earth where does the soul of that man go? Doesn’t it go to the One who just struck him with death. Doesn’t it go to He who is Love? Man is only striving to still the waters. God is forever trying to impart Life.

There so much more to say about this. But what value are my words to anyone? Wouldn’t it be vastly better for you to go to the One from whom I have received this understanding? He can explain in the blink of an eye what it would take me four years to unravel in the words of Man.

But understand this, nothing God does finds its beginning in futility. It is all for the purpose of Love and Life.

It used to be that if men found someone ranting insanely in panic, they would slap them in the face to wake them up. (today, that’s not PC.). That’s what is happening as the world crashes in on man’s version of prosperity and peace. It’s a wake up call with endless, boundless, intent for love.

There is eternal destruction, yes. But the offer on the table before you is Life. His name is Jesus.

Our Violent Preoccupation

No man is capable of doing the things we say are expected of him, anymore than we ourselves can produce a crop of pure righteousness.

Why then do you ridicule your brother? Why do you say he is worthless? Isn’t it because you yourself can’t have what you want? Isn’t it because, in your own wicked eye, you perceive that he has taken something from you?

Have you been to truth? Have you been to the truth that devastates every man? Have you tasted your own condemnation? How many things have you denied your fellow man? How many things have you robbed from others simply because you exist?!

I propose your mouth would slam shut at the revealing of your own sin! That day is most assuredly coming.

The truth of Christ calls out in the streets, in your home, and in your own soul. Yet who will listen voluntarily? Who will listen until he rocks back-and-forth, recognizing his own helplessness?

Do not say you love God while you bash your brother’s soul against the rocks!

I write this as one of you. If Our God had not convicted me of my sins and taught me what is true, like you I would have nothing to say. But because I have seen what is true, (and am devastated) I am compelled to join Him in crying out in the streets. I am nothing, Christ is ALL.

Go to God in prayer. Confess your own failings. If you think you have none, ask him to show you. He is happy to reveal as much as you can stand.

I guarantee, any man to whom his sin is shown will drive his own face to the dust with remorse. His boasting, his hatred for his brothers, his sense of self righteousness, and his expectations of perfection from others will diminish radically.

Stop your ridiculous onslaught against your brother, humble yourself before God, and receive the truth.

If not today, when? Our days are numbered. The sum of them will come. Who do you want to be? Stop being preoccupied with your brother’s failings. Take a long hard look at your own.
